The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

I am so all over the place with this.. I WANT to go. My husband WANTS to go.. My kids REALLY want to go! :lmao: But I am a little freaked out about going someplace new. I know.. Im a dork!

Ahhhh, you can do it! You're just feeling insecure because you never *yet* have done it. But, you're right, it's no harder than things you have already done.

And if the kids & DH are prepared to help because they really want to go, well you've won half the battle right there. :goodvibes

We have never been.. and I want to go, for the older kids sake. They have been wanting to FOREVER!:lmao: I think we are going to do it... It is actually going to cost less to go to WDW then it would be to go to DL. Isnt that nutty??

We go through a can of formula a day.. The little cans, but still. YIKES!! Only 2 and a half more months until they eat solids.. hopefully we wont go through so much formula.

I would go, but I'm the one dragging my 5 month old in October! :rotfl: I just love me some Walt Disney World! :lovestruc
Keep us updated, I love to hear about other peoples trips!
I REALLY want to go to DL and I think we're going to bank DH's vacation (he can roll over up to 6 weeks) and take a month and go to Vegas for our anniversary and Yellowstone and visit all his Marine Corps. buddies (he's got one in Portland, one in Vegas, one in San Fernando and one in San Diego)... but I want to wait until Lucas is old enough to appreciate a trip like that. (Sorry, I really do tend to ramble on and on and on...)
I can't believe it's cheaper! Thats nuts. I'd definitely take advantage though... you'll get back with the other kiddos. I know it BECAUSE once you go, you can't stop going .... :rotfl2:

I meant to ask Lisa how Luca did, they went recently I think...? She should have some tips for us following behind her with little ones! There were a couple great threads I found on the Family board but I think I've lost them since then...

I have flown tons with my two older kids.. starting really young.. and by myself a lot.. We would definitely give them their own seats. I have done the lap baby thing, and that only to California, a 2 and a half hour flight. NEVER AGAIN! :lmao:

That is part of the fun! (Someplace new...) besides, it's Disney. It's like going home... (or you can insert some other dorky phrase in place of that one if you'd prefer) I've read the baby care centers make it super duper easy to take the trip.

Lucas will be a lap baby in October. Am I in for it? :scared1: It's barely a 2 hour flight for us.

I've re-hooped using my singer Futura. . .

I mark the fabric with the kind of fabric marker that washes away and then re0hoop using the lines as a guide. Then the futra software has a grid, so I can place the next set of whatever I am embroidering exactly on the same lines using the grid, It has worked. . . :)

Sounds like you're making progress, though, introducing a little bit here and a little bit there... not too overwhelming at once!

This is kinda off topic a bit, but Lucas' pediatrician always wants to know how many ounces he is eating a day. How do BFeeders know?

...I also think I'm going to start giving him a bigger bottle before bed. He cried and cried last night after he ate and it was the hungry cry and so I gave him a snack (2oz) and he went right to sleep. He's happy with 4oz during the day but it seems like if I give him 6oz at night he sleeps pretty much the entire night a very happy little Lucas.

We're off to my parents to utilize the pool and enjoy my brothers company before he returns to Orlando tomorrow!

Happy Father's Day to everyones DH's and such!!

Bfers don't have the same kind of control over how much our kids eat, so the ped doesn't ask in the "how many oz" sort of way but rather "how many times a day does she nurse" and how many wet/poopy diapers she has and how her weight gain is, among other things, like getting chubbier faces, etc. Happy content and gaining weight? Mama milk is working good.

Gotcha! :thumbsup2 Thanks!

Stacy, you said CJ was on Neosure, right?
(I'm like the freaky discount/bargain lady so sorry if I get a little into my penny pinching ways for you guys! :rotfl:)

I don't know how much it is normally but I noticed CVS has a 6pack of the powder marked down from $112.74 to $90.19.
Then, you go to your cart and they've already taken another $10 off for spending $60 (so $80.19) and if you use a Mastercard they take another $5 off. Shipping is also free for any order of $49!

Just thought I'd share.

Someone got to this before me, but I thought that I would add that bfed babies eat a lot less because momma's milk has very little waste and is exactly what they need at any stage of development. So your milk is vastly different at 2 weeks than it will be at 6 months...you body changes it automatically to meet the babies' needs...isn't that amazing?! I've been reading a lot about bfing lately!

We had it all planned out for a nice driving trip to California.. doing some camping on the way to Disneyland. We have done driving trips with the older kids too..

The more I think about it, the more sure I am that I can handle it. I mean.. my husband will be there, so that is a bonus right there. My older kids will be 8 and 5... My mom will be with us some of the time.. (not that she is any help with the kids..) Shoot.. I handle all four kids on my own most of the time, and we do okay.

Maybe an overnight flight so everyone will sleep through it?? Everyone but me that is. :lmao:

I think you should go for it!! We're here to help with planning...WDW is sooo cool. I completely understand about not wanting to go somewhere new, but for me WDW is the place I keep going back to. :thumbsup2

Will you stay onsite?

I'd go too!

Have you thought about staying offsite? I've only stayed at AllStar Sports for my 2 previous trips. But next year we are staying at a townhouse in Windsor Hills. For less than $1000, we get 7 nights, 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a private pool, 4 tvs, playstation, free internet, a kitchen, and tons of baby gear. And it is only 2 miles from Disney. I'm excited that we can park right at the front door of the house instead of having to make long walks from the parking lot or bus stop!

Well my milk isn't doing diddly squat (never came in, as expected) but in general yes that is pretty darn amazing! :goodvibes

You could have ended up like me with over-production, both babies! I could nurse all day and it never goes down. I sometimes envy the bottle feeders because there is no trying to hide what others could see. :rotfl: The cabbage leaves do help a tiny bit for me.

Our ped just goes off how many poopy/wet diapers & weight gain, like the others said too. I wish there was a way to know other than measuring with bottles. DS2 is already bigger than DS1 was at the same age. DS1 wore NB and 0 until he was about 2m, DS2 is already wearing 0-3 and 3-6 onesies.

I think we are going to do it..

we are going to stay onsite, and we are looking at POR... There arent to many places we can stay with our gigantic family.. It looks like its either POR, or the family suites at All Star Music. And the Port Orleans is just so pretty looking! Plus they have some really neat stuff for the kiddos...

I mentioned that to my mom, and she shot me down so fast. She has a friend that goes, and stays offsite in some cheapy hotels... So that is what she thinks we should do. Umm... with two one year olds?? Stay off site in some questionable hotel, with questionable shuttle service?? Im good. I told her we would just pay for ourselves. That way we arent stuck under her thumb the whole time..

She doesnt even want to go to Epcot!! GEEZ!! We have never been, and you want us to skip that? I dont think so!

She is also trying to convince my sister to go... My sister's husband is unemployed right now... they are BROKE. So broke.. and my mom wants them to try to save some money for the trip. I love my sister, but I dont think I could handle this trip with them. Her kids are WAY older then mine, and are never around little kids.. So they get irritated with my kids, and then I get irritated with the older kids.. Plus my sisters husband is a jerk. I dont know.. I just dont see something like that ending well.

Wow.. Im sorry! I didnt mean to unload all this on you guys!

Sorry, I'm not one of those people that is momma's milk crazy. I don't care what anyone does. I've just been reading a lot! :thumbsup2

Ugh...sounds like maybe you should just wait and take your own trip when you are ready. I would hate for your first trip to be ruined by family (been there, done that!)

I think POR is a GREAT choice. It's my favorite resort by far. I love the grounds--you really feel like you're in a whole different world without cartoon characters all around you all the time. It's a great place to relax outside the parks and the bus service is good. It's a bit of a pain since there are so many stops (4 around the resort because it's very large), but you rarely will miss a bus because it's full--which is common at the All Stars (I've stayed there too!).

The other option is to go with your mom and just only meet up with her for meals or when it's convenient--unless she's expecting to be with you all the time (which is probably the case?)

I can't imagine skipping EPCOT and I've been there 7 times!

I'd love to help you plan--I can live vicariously through you!:thumbsup2

My kids would KILL me if I mentioned skipping Epcot! They were 6 and 9 (my son turned 9 in Epcot) for our first trip, and it was their favorite park! My daughter loved shopping in World Showcase, and they both loved the performers. There are tons of characters in all the countries, too. And Test Track is a must-it is dd9's favorite ride (ds11's is Expedition Everest in AK). It is what she missed the most when we went to DL. We were watching Extreme Makeover Home Edition the other night, and the family was in Epcot. She started screaming when they showed them on Test Track. We also love some of the quieter areas-the Living Seas is awesome, and even the kids like the Living with the Land boat ride. I know alot of people skip the Circle of Life movie, but my kids want to see it mult times.

I can't imagine going and not doing all 4 parks. It is like a different vacation every day, since they are all so different.

Oh, and if you ever stay at the AllStars, pick Sports. It was recently renovated, so all the rooms are like new. And it is the first pick up and drop off for the buses, so full buses is never a problem there!

I'm really missing Disney right now:guilty:

****The kids also had their favorite meal of our first trip in Epcot. Garden Grill has wonderful character interaction, and the restaurant rotates, which is neat. Instead of buffet, it is served family style. So you don't have to worry about getting up with all the kids!

You have to go to Epcot!! Even the twins will like Epcot, just because there is so much to see! That'll be one of the best parks to take them to!

Sounds like paying yourselves to stay onsite is the way to go. I've only stayed at POP and GF, though so I can't be much help on resorts.

Given any thought to the dining plan and such? Sarah and I can talk restaurants with you!

Hey, it's pretty much the point of the thread. Unload away. I ramble like a crazy woman, so feel free! :rotfl:

Your DS2 and Lucas are pretty much the same age, right? I think born 1 day apart or so? Lucas can wear 3-6 month onesies, too. He's grown out of the Gerber 0-3 I had.... I almost want to take a picture and mail them a letter that says "0-3 my butt, this is my 2.5 wk old son!"

I think I am going to have to up ALL of Lucas' bottles up to 6oz. He went from making it 5-6 hours between 4oz bottle to only 3.5-4... which isn't a big deal, but holy crap! This boy is an eating machine~ :rotfl2:

I can't imagine going and not doing all 4 parks. It is like a different vacation every day, since they are all so different.

I agree! My husband was like "What are we going to do down there for 8 days?" I said... "There are 4 parks!" and we're also going to be taking it a whole heck of a lot slower than I've ever done Disney before. I plan to do a park in the morning and go back to the hotel in the afternoon for the pool and to put Lucas down for a nap. Then back to a park for the night.

I'm so excited! I know it'll be a completely new experience going with hubby and baby vs. my brother and best friend which has been the majority of my trips.

I had to share this!

My brother's girlfriend went back to Sydney at the end of April but she mailed us a baby gift...

These socks are adorable!! I can't get over them. He can't wear them yet but still... Lucas will be the only kid in town with cool Australian sneaker socks. Haha.

You guys are awesome!! Thank you!! Okay.. I think what we are going to do is stay at the POR.. It will be squished, but you should see where we live!:lmao: We are really thinking about doing the dining plan.. The restaurants there.. OH MY!! So many places we want to eat!! Cinderellas Royal Table.. Chef Mickeys... Boma.. Jiko.. California Grill.. Im ready to pack my bags right now!:lmao: We are also looking at getting a sitter for one night. The biggers are big enough for a childrens club, but obviously the babies arent. As of right now its $23.50 per hour for daycare with four kids. :scared1: But for a night with the hubby, its worth it! To bad we wont have our own room..;):lmao:

The whole thing puts my brain on overload!! Since you all have been there, I will have OODLES of questions for you!

Sounds worth it to me!

My brother lives down there right now but I think he'll be gone for our trip (to Australia). I was thinking of asking his roommates if they'd watch Lucas one night, I'm with you-- I think a night on the town with the hubby sounds excellent!
One of his roommates he went to college with before she moved to Orlando and in with him, and she works at the NICU so I'd definitely trust her with baby Lucas.
(See? Rambling.)

Feel free to ask anything you want! I'm sure we'll have plenty of answers for you!! !!

The whole thing puts my brain on overload!! Since you all have been there, I will have OODLES of questions for you!

I'm w/ everybody else, we love planning questions!! :goodvibes I've taken my son every year for the past 4 years & have done both KNO (DS was almost 4) & Kid's Clubs (at Poly & WL) -- my son preferred the Kids' Clubs, but KNO was just fine too.

So whenever you want to start thinking about planning & have questions, fire away. We're here to help, or at least offer opinions. Oh yeah, don't skip EPCOT!! Some of the best restaraunt choices are there. And for us, it's as much about the eating as everything else.:goodvibes

Yep, the food is a big part of the trip for me! I can't wait to take Katie to Cinderella's Royal Table. She already has a dress, that I bought in March (and she wasn't even born until May!). princess::upsidedow

I love character meals! As much, or more than, the kids!

I ate at CRT in 2005, but not since then.

They've changed it since then! It's all characters and pictures now. I don't know that I can con Lucas into going in a few years...

I love Whispering Canyon, so much fun. I think my absolute favorites are Ohana and Le Cellier (Le Cellier at the top!)...

All the Disney talk is killing me LOL!!! We just went this Jan (it's quite a flight from HI to Orlando LOL) and now you're making me want to take the new one!!! Have a great time! The food is part of the fun LOL!
