The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

Hi girls! It seems like forever since I have been on here.

Everyone doing well here. Zander is growing like a weed. Still not consistently giving me long nights but the nights he gets up at around 2:30ish, he eats for just a few minutes and goes back to bed.

We leave this Friday for a weekend at Universal Studios. We can't afford to do Disney this year and we have never been to Universal, so we thought we would give it a try. I would REALLY love to do the Disney Alaska cruise but I know we can't afford it.

All the kiddos pics are just too cute!

I am missing out on my sisters consignment sale this time. They hold one in Mobile, AL and I usually go and help but since Madeline is in school this year, she can't miss that many days. SO the other day I tele-shopped! My mom went over to the location and my sisters helped her shop for me. Their sale is huge this time. They have over 850 consignors.

, but we are a start early & take an afternoon break kind of family, so as it's getting busiest is when we are heading back to the resort to rest or swim.

I'm sad.... looks like there's no 2010 trip in the cards for us..... probably 2011. Unless I can scheme a long weekend mom & son trip for me & my oldest some time..........

We are an early start family too. (Much to DH's chagrin.) I hope you can eventually do a mom & son trip. After my oldest DD got sick during one trip, I thought about doing that with just her. When they emailed me a code, I went for it. That was when she was 7. Some people thought it was a little odd to leave my other children at home when going to a place like WDW-but four years later I am SO glad we did it.

I love kids' clothes resales. Because I am a "new" mom (baby under 6 mos. old), I got to go to a presale of one this weekend. It was actually pretty small and didn't have a ton of good deals, but I thought it was really nice that they let pregnant women and new mothers shop a day early. The bigger ones here in the metro area don't do that.

Wow, that is nice. Only one sale I've been to did that and it totally stunk once we got there. Nothing worth while or in the right size. But if you volunteer for 3 hours you get 1 hour to shop the night before at most of the club sales.

Now that's a sale! The last one I went to that was considered big was only 250. But there has been a huge leap in prices this year. I think people are trying to get the most for their items but some were so overpriced for 2nd hand. At least you could tele-shop. ;) Ha ha, that's a good one. Glad Zander is doing well. Have fun at US!

That's the same thing my little guy does. He loves being on his tummy on his playmat. That's where he turned over last week. He was stunned once he flipped over and laughed out loud. My other son yelled, "wow! see that?". I'm glad Lily has decided to try another place to sleep. I think we'll be moving the baby to his crib next month. He's getting too long for the bassinet. :(

Love the costume ideas so far. I found one for my oldest that is a lion with a big fluffy mane. I think we'll just have them match this year before anyone can object openly about it next Halloween.

I went to 2 kids clothes resales this weekend and am all set for them for fall and winter. A few of the 6/9 shirts are too small, but most of them were only $1-2. Between the two of them I got 40 shirts, 2 coats, 2 snowsuits, 1 pair boots, 10 pants, 2 overalls, 10 holiday/my first bibs, 2 pairs of shoes (never even worn!), 12 pairs Trumpette socks, 4 sweaters, and a small assortment of puzzles, blocks, and links. $125! The pants are all Gymbo and Children's Place and the shirts are mostly from CP as well. The baby's clothes are mostly Carters and Gap. :woohoo:

I wish we had those resale things around here! I'd go to those in a heartbeat but I'd never heard of them until you guys started talking about them on this thread.
The lion idea sounds cute!!

The pics are too cute!

I've been home with Katie and ds12 today. Neither were feeling good this morning, and ds12 got a nosebleed, so we thought we'd better keep them in.

I spent the last 45 min on the phone with Disney. I let dh out of our trip. He just really didn't want to go. He said he still wants to do Kennedy, but over a long weekend. I said that was great, he'd be happier and not make us miserable. Then the 4/3 deal came out! So I just booked POR for March 13-20!:yay: I've never done anything but AllStar Sports, and I'm so excited to try a moderate. It was only $150 cheaper to do Pop, and if I get my sister to come with me, there will be room for 5 (her and her son) in the POR trundle room!!!!

I'm going to ***try*** to keep this a secret until Christmas, and make this the kids big present this year.:upsidedow

I'm horrible with secrets so I couldn't do it but I think that is a pretty awesome present! How exciting that you guys are going!!
I went in March in 05 and it wasn't bad. The parks were open late which was one of my favorite things.... it's weird to me to be going in a few weeks when the parks close so early. More daylight hours, too!

I'm thinking of calling myself for the 4/3 deal. But seriously, how bad are the crowds in March? I've heard horror stories and always tried to go off season. But it's been forever since we've gone (check my signature :sad1:) and now that my kids are older, it's harder to take them out of school. So tell me the truth, Ladies. How bad is it? (Our spring break is the third week in March.) DH has an elderly aunt in Florida who refuses to fly anymore, but really wants to see Alexis so she would be thrilled too.

Gooooooo!
I'm such a Disney pusher. :headache:

I hope you guys have a great time at US! Try to sneak some looks at the new Harry Potter stuff... lol

DH has given me permission to book NOT the Alaska cruise... but the 2011 eastbound transatlantic crossing instead.
I can't decide whether or not we should do it.
We'd have to make some choices if we went. To try for baby #2 a few months before my OB advised (April instead of June) and only try for 3 months and cross our fingers... or if we don't get pregnant one of those 3 months, we'd have to quit trying until a few months before the cruise (if we decided that it'd be OK for me to be pregnant on such a long cruise)... Otherwise we'd have to wait almost an entire year longer than we wanted.
Is a vacation really worth that?

I have a heck of a mental battle going on right now.

I'd love to do the Alaska cruise, too, but it is WAY out of my league price wise. I shouldn't be doing this trip, but I am darn it! I'm tired of making grown up decisions-I want to do something fun!:goodvibes I canceled the townhouse for July, and I have my little planning book out ready to get started. I can't wait to book adrs!

I want to do Universal after Harry Potter World opens. I doubt it will be for our trip-or it will be so new it will be a madhouse! Maybe when we go back for the long weekend with dh for the space center, we can add on a couple of days there.

We got lucky.... we'll be going with the money I had put away for Lucas' birth from when I was working.
In some strange twist of things his birth, my hospital stay AND my gallbladder surgery have been paid 100% by my insurance company.

So we've got some "play" money. :)

:woohoo:Wow, that is awesome Patsy!

I wish dh would agree to do something like that, but I'll take a long weekend-better than nothing!

That would be awesome, Piecey. We've always wanted to do a long cruise buy they never seem to leave when DH has time off.

Have you tried Craigslist for resales? You can check usually under 'baby and kids' or the garage sales. That's where I find a few church or school clothes sales around here. I'm sure you have them around you too! :) A few of our elementary schools have 2 each year.

So, I've been thinking ahead to when the twins outgrow their infant carriers. It'll be a while, Katie's around 9 lbs & Dylan is around 10. Right now I have a Snap n Go double that I picked up used on Craigslist.

Double strollers are pricey, so I may need time to save for this. The ones I have my eye on are the Baby Jogger City Mini double or the City Elite double, sooo expensive, more than a car payment, double a car payment. Here's a link if anyone wants to see.....

Before I make that sort of "investment" in gear I ant to be able to get my hands on it & test drive it -- but no one around here seems to stock the doubles, you can order 'em but that doesn't help me.....

Valerie-I picked up the Sit n Stand stroller at Target when they had their baby clearance back in February/Marchish. I got it for 49.00. If you are still looking for something around this coming Feb./March you might check you Target's baby clearance to see what they have. You can get some great deals from their clearances!

Patsy, WOW! I would jump at the computer and start planning if DH okayed us a Disney cruise of any kind! That's awesome that your DH is on board with going on one. But I totally understand the hesitation. I guess it just depends on how old you want to be when you have your second. I really like the age difference between my two. The four year span is nice. Madeline helps me a lot.

As far as having the money goes, our vacation this weekend will be really cheap. We use a Choice Privileges cc to pay for all our purchses every month and then pay it off every time but the amount we put on it adds up in points for us and we can stay for free at any Choice Privileges hotel. (Comfort Suites, Sleep Inn, etc.) And DH had Hilton Reward points that he cashed in for one adult 2 park 2 day ticket, so we only have to buy lunch and dinner for two days (breakfast comes with the hotel) and for one adult and one child ticket. :woohoo:

I feel like a bad mommy. I don't give Zander near the amount of tummy time I am sure he needs. He gets sooo frustrated with it. But on the other had, I feel like he will walk in a month! :lmao: He's always trying to stand up when I am holding him and sitting down. And he just wants to mobile so badly!

LOTS of moms on my twin boards have that stroller, and they LOVE it. LOVE IT. Every single one of them. Enough that I have been thinking about getting one! LOL! Right now I have a Graco Quattro Duo Stroller something. I dont know, its the nicest tandem graco... and I LOVE it. But I am getting a side by side soon. My babies are getting very close to outgrowing their car seats... They go to thirty pounds.. They are already to heavy for me to carry at the same time. Once they can both sit well unassisted, we will switch to just leaving the car seats in the car until we buy more seats.

I HAVE to have a stroller that will hold at least 50lbs per side. I have big babies... and need a BIG stroller. Kaylee's big ole butt broke her stroller at Disneyland when she was two. and it was a nice stroller!

We are most like going to look at the Maclaren..

I'm very grateful Lucas was a summer baby.

I'm struggling to keep the little bugger warm. He sleeps with a blanket night. I put mittons him. Fleece sleeper. Socks. the whole shibang.

But when I woke up this morning his nose and cheeks were red (like Santa Clause!) and his hands are freezing. :(

We have a space heater. Trying to decide if we should put that in his room because we don't want to kick the heat on just yet... but I guess we'll fork over the $$ if we have to turn it on for him.

Right now I've got a TON of candles lit in the room he's in. Crossing my fingers that warms him up a bit.

I have an $11 off coupon for Enfimil. First to respond, I'll send it out to you. :teeth:

ETA: It's not Enfamil. It's Nestle Good Start. One is an $11 off coupon, and one is a $1 off coupon. They expire 1/1/2010.
J - I sent you a PM to see if you still wanted this; if not, they are back on the table.

Hey, I don't know whether or not any of you will use this but I thought I'd post.

It's a $4 coupon off of any of these games: Hungry Hippos, Gator Golf, Giraffalaff Limbo, Scatterpillar Scramble or Elefun.

You can print 2 and it's good until 12/31/09... the games should go on sale for Christmas sometime soon, too! :)

If anyone is interested, I have 4 $5 off coupons for Similiac, good until 1/17/10. My daughter only rarely uses Enfamil, so I would hate for these to go to waste. PM your info, if interested, and I will pop them in the mail.

:)

Whats the website Patsy?

J - i'll send it out this week!

When you guys were pregnant, did any of you have a dark brown line appear down the center of your belly? When did it go away? Mine is still hanging around and I hope it goes away or at least gets lighter...
