Does anyone know if WL CL has started the renovation to the concierge lounge area?

I was told it was going to start in January or February and be finished by May.

Thanks in advance. :sunny:

I'm very interested in this topic as well, as we will be at WL CL in late March. I noticed someone asked about it at the top of this page and Majestic replied "Let me see what I can find out..." I can't wait to read his update!! (Hint, hint ;) )

Heys guys!...just wanted to let ya know that...Kimmar is on her way to AC to catch her flight to WDW! :moped: Have a great trip!

Well, we are back home after a FABULOUS time at the lodge. We had reserved a non-smoking woodsview room and requested bunk beds. When we got there Saturday afternoon there were no bunkbeds but we were upgraded to courtyard view. Wow was that beautiful! We were in room 4143 that 1st night. The next morning we had 2 messages: one welcoming us to the lodge from the CM that checked us in, and another saying they would move us to a bunkbed room that day! So we called the bellman and had them store our bags while we hit the Studios. We got back to the lodge and they gave us keys to our new room (4035) which had the bunkbeds AND a courtyard view! The kids (7 & 10) each got 3 nights on the top bunk so it worked out nicely. We were right in the corner directly above Artist Point. The view was beautiful. We saw the water parade a few nights that we were in the room at that time (9:35). One night we caught it close-up from the beach!

We ate both breakfast and dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe. Having a good waitperson makes a difference! Of course, we asked for some ketchup :rotfl: and the kids loved the pony races and bandana hat we all got (I think we brought home 6 or 7).

Valentine's day dinner at Artist Point was out-of-this-world fantastic. :cheer2: We had a fairly early res. for 2 (sent the kids to the Cub's Den) and asked for the corner table as far away from kids as possible. We chose the 4 course chef's menu--DH had the Cedar Plank Salmon and I the Tenderloin. OMG that was the best steak I have ever had! And the wine pairings were perfect. They have so many wines that you just don't see anywhere else as they all come from the Pacific Northwest. Yum! The Icewine is a must with the berry cobbler for dessert. I was really worried that I wouldn't like this restaurant: that is would be to "gamey" but it was probably the best meal I have had.

The kids took advantage of the pool nearly every day. I liked the hot tub myself! :earboy2:

The only thing I wasn't thrilled with was the transportation. It was not very timely and the buses were always crowded when we had to share with other resorts. On the way to AK there were some mighty unhappy people at the GF who didn't make it onto that bus. And I heard one comment from someone staying at FW that it wasn't fair they always got picked up after us and had to stand or that we seemed to always be dropped off at the lodge first. (I think it was just luck of the draw whether we were picked up first or FW was first. Never could figure out their system.) :thewave: :thewave:

That was the trip in a nutshell. We stayed 7 nights and by checkout yesterday (Sat) they were FULL! (So was MK on Friday--WOW)

If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer what I could.

BTW, there was no fridge in either room when we got there but they did deliver one right away in 4035 and plugged it in right uder the vanity area. it looked as if it had been beaten on but it worked just fine. The water and milk stayed cold all week!

Wow, thanks so much for the report...only a few days left on my timer... :hourglass I can't believe it is almost time to return!!

We have two standard rooms reserved at WL...hoping for an upgrade but I will happy no matter what. :cool1:

Does anyone know, Can I get a fridge for each room?? We are supposed to be guaranteed connecting since its 3 kids and 2 adults. Just wondering.

I hope the Pres. Week crowds head home by Sunday at the latest!! (we get there Friday, so I am expecting a busy weekend, but hoping for it to slow down a little the rest of our time there!!)

Glad you had a great trip, and thanks again for the report!!

i am so excited - we made ressies at the wl on a whim - we've never stayed there before.

however, when i made my ressie, the cm at cro said the whole resort was non-smoking. in reading through this thread, it seems a lot of people request non-smoking rooms. is the resort really non-smoking or do i need to request it?

No, the entire resort is not non-smoking, however the smoking rooms are all in one section of the 6th floor, so yes I would have non-smoking noted on my request, although its doubtful you'd be put in a smoking room anyway. Also, there are one or two designated smoking areas around the building but these are far enough away from the main goings-on that you hardly notice them.

What time do the boats operate? the boat to MK and the boat to CR? and during MK EMH? Sorry if this information has been mentioned already but I seem to have read different things about this.

BTW I've read almost every page of this thread because we're going to stay at WL for the first time in May. I was nervous because we've stayed at the CR repeatedly for the last 3 years. I'm actually starting to get excited about WL now!

If I remember correctly, the MK boats start around 8 am. (Probably 7 when EMH starts at 8) and go until 45 minutes after park closing, even after EMH. I think the CR launch started about 7:15. Hope this helps!

Denise

The boats start the first run at 7:30 a.m. - or they have the times I have been there - they do change the times at their own discretion at any time.

To answer my own question, I just called WL and asked them about boat hours of operation. The boat to CR starts at 645 am, and the boat to MK starts 30 minutes prior to MK opening.

Good for you for calling. I guess the MK opened at 8 a.m. the week I was there, when I caught the boat at 7:30.
Good luck and have fun

Okay, we've got the Disney Jones so bad, here. Nothing combats a case of the Februaries like thinking of your last trip to Disney. So, I spontaneously made reservations for this October. 8 nights WL Concierge......

My question is this...if Disney does another deep discount sale this year, how difficult is it to cancel and rebook the reservation?

Also, we requested the same room we had last year...what is everyone's experience with having those types of requests honoured?

TIA,

Katherine

Hello all.

I am in the process of trying to plot our return to the WL. We just found out that my kids school district is closed for the entire "Jersey Week" in November. I called CRO and put a courtesy hold on 8 nights woodsview with a AAA of $238 plus tax which is 10% off rack. Arrival would be Nov 5th. Hopefully some codes will come out in the furture and I can get a better rate.

We're staying at WLV from 3/25- 4/2. Does anyone know the cost of the health club? I can't remember for the life of me what we paid last time for it.
Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that the resort's health club is now free to resort guests. I'm going to see if I can find the info and will post it here when I do.

Here's what I got today regarding the work to be done in the concierge areas of Wilderness Lodge.

"Regarding your questions about the upcoming concierge work, we will try to maintain standard operations to enable us to avoid any interruption to service.

There have been no setbacks to date, the estimated start is set for the end of March with a completion in the end of May."

Hope this helps. :)

Several pages back there was mention of a new concierge lounge coming to the Lodge, does anyone know if this is still planned and if/when concierge service may be interupted for construction?

Thanks for the info.

I was told they were going to start in January. :confused3 I wonder what the delay is.

I'll be anxious to see the finished product in May.

Thanks again.
