Well, we are back home after a FABULOUS time at the lodge. We had reserved a non-smoking woodsview room and requested bunk beds. When we got there Saturday afternoon there were no bunkbeds but we were upgraded to courtyard view. Wow was that beautiful! We were in room 4143 that 1st night. The next morning we had 2 messages: one welcoming us to the lodge from the CM that checked us in, and another saying they would move us to a bunkbed room that day! So we called the bellman and had them store our bags while we hit the Studios. We got back to the lodge and they gave us keys to our new room (4035) which had the bunkbeds AND a courtyard view! The kids (7 & 10) each got 3 nights on the top bunk so it worked out nicely. We were right in the corner directly above Artist Point. The view was beautiful. We saw the water parade a few nights that we were in the room at that time (9:35). One night we caught it close-up from the beach!
We ate both breakfast and dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe. Having a good waitperson makes a difference! Of course, we asked for some ketchup

and the kids loved the pony races and bandana hat we all got (I think we brought home 6 or 7).
Valentine's day dinner at Artist Point was out-of-this-world fantastic.

We had a fairly early res. for 2 (sent the kids to the Cub's Den) and asked for the corner table as far away from kids as possible. We chose the 4 course chef's menu--DH had the Cedar Plank Salmon and I the Tenderloin. OMG that was the best steak I have ever had! And the wine pairings were perfect. They have so many wines that you just don't see anywhere else as they all come from the Pacific Northwest. Yum! The Icewine is a must with the berry cobbler for dessert. I was really worried that I wouldn't like this restaurant: that is would be to "gamey" but it was probably the best meal I have had.
The kids took advantage of the pool nearly every day. I liked the hot tub myself!
The only thing I wasn't thrilled with was the transportation. It was not very timely and the buses were always crowded when we had to share with other resorts. On the way to AK there were some mighty unhappy people at the GF who didn't make it onto that bus. And I heard one comment from someone staying at FW that it wasn't fair they always got picked up after us and had to stand or that we seemed to always be dropped off at the lodge first. (I think it was just luck of the draw whether we were picked up first or FW was first. Never could figure out their system.) :thewave: :thewave:
That was the trip in a nutshell. We stayed 7 nights and by checkout yesterday (Sat) they were FULL! (So was MK on Friday--WOW)
If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer what I could.
BTW, there was no fridge in either room when we got there but they did deliver one right away in 4035 and plugged it in right uder the vanity area. it looked as if it had been beaten on but it worked just fine. The water and milk stayed cold all week!
