Just made rezs to WL. You know it's so painful, b/c I'm always on the phone with them for at least 20 minutes! Their computers are always slow and after PS rezs it is a minimum of 20. Today was 25 minutes. Ahhhh, now that's off my chest, my rate is $239/night, no discount for a standard view. The AAA rate is $270/night for a courtyard view. I opted for the std view b/c we rarely hang out in the room.

After you drive through the MK parking plaza you will keep to the right (just like you do when traveling to the Poly or GF) at the light (Seven Seas Drive on left) instead of turning left and going by TTC you will turn right (Timberline Drive on the right) the next stop is Wilderness Lodge.

WL is about a 10 to 15 minute boat ride to MK. WL is one of the MK resorts and is located on the lake just outside MK main entrance. Looking at a map its about half way between Fort Wilderness Campground and MK and while it doesn't have a Monorail stop its not far from the monorail track and is between Contemporary and Polynesian.

My fiance' and I have decided on the WL for our honeymoon in January.

I'm curious to know what kind of things there are to do in terms of recreation both during the day and at night at the lodge in January. I figure that since the parks close earlier in the Winter, I need to know what is available at the resort.

Thanks in advance!

:confused3 I will be planning a trip for 8 adults 2 teenagers and 1- 1yearold (to be 21/2 at the time of the trip) in early Dec of 2006. :hourglass How soon (besides all the good stuff in planning/ps's -- which I love to do an acturally have my PS list running already :goodvibes ) can you book rooms/villas etc for the trip this far inadvance?

we were thinking about a 2br villa and a 1br villa at the WL what is anyone's oppinion on this? :tilt: We could go elsewhere, but DH and I LOVE  WL, usually we stay at the Concierge level, but this would be way to much for everyone. Do you think it would just be better to go for 3 rooms?

Would this be worth considering a Grand Gathering? (I am only used to planning trips for 2 (3 with step son) tops!! :crowded:

Depending on the weather, we go out to the hot tub, and like to sit at the fireplace, but we do DTD too--- so we are out and about. :rockband: :dancer:

Not sure how long you'll be staying but with a group that size I would try for a two-bedroom villa and a studio. You would have the full kitchen in the 2-bedroom the studio would be less expensive then the 1-bedroom. You will need to make your reservations with CRO as soon as you can. Dec is very popular with DVC Members and the Villas book early.

A Grand Gathering # would make it easier to book PS and other events for your group.

You're going to love the Villas @ Wilderness Lodge.

After so many countless hours or research and planning we've just booked our 1st trip to WDW.

4 adults, 8 nights @ at WL in a standard room, MYW w/ dining, sept. 8-16th.

we're so excited. I've got the itinerary down to the last 2 days!

I probably had move to say but I can't think right now.

OK back to work.

Hi. We will be at the WL for the first time April14th to the 23rd! I am trying to find out what drinks are available for the refillable mugs. I tried to use the search but it isn't working for me. Thanks for any help you can give me!!

Regarding refillable mugs, you can get any type of fountain drink (coke, diet, sprite, etc) or coffee or hot or iced tea (you have to ask for a tea bag but there's no charge for it). I think you may be able to get hot cocoa but I am not sure.

Thanks for the response. I was hoping there was some type of juice available. I think it will still be worth it for the coffee though..

Hi everyone,

I'm really excited to be going to WL 5/14 - 5/21 with not only my 2 dd's (first time anywhere...especially in an AIRPLANE)..but we're also taking my mom and dad (who can't wait to see their gd's expression at Disney)...

anyway...we've reserved 2 courtyard view rooms...(one with a king and one with a queen and bunks) and have requested connecting/adjacent.

Here's question 1: Can/should I request a specific room(s)? or location?
I'm a little concerned that if we're over the lobby, we'll hear a lot of the noise...not sure how it is looking out over the pool...

Question 2: I hear mixed reviews about the bus transportation to/from parks...are taxis available if we HAD to get from one place to another quickly?

any advice from the "vets" here would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Marion

I too am interested in transportation. :flower: I have heard mixed things on these boards. Does WL share their bus with another resort?

:wave2: Welcome my2girlsmom and fun and fancy free!

Let me try to answer some of your questions- room requests are just that- requests- sometimes they are granted, sometimes not. It certainly doesn't hurt to ask! Regarding Lobby noise- I had a woodsview room that opened to the lobby on our first trip. I loved it and didn't find the noise bothersome at all. You do hear the 'triangle' clanging in the distance from Whispering Canyon as early as 7:30 but it wasn't loud enough to wake DD.

Regarding transportation- I found the WL transportation very efficient. You do share a boat to the MK and CR with Fort Wilderness but they split the day as to who gets picked up/dropped off first. If I recall, in the morning, the boat goes FW/WL/MK and in the afternoon it goes in reverse. I found the bus very efficient too- there is a bus directly to the TTC making it easy to get the monorail to places if you like that transport. You can also take the boat to the Contemporary to catch the Monorail too. And yes, taxis are available. One of our seasoned WL veterans- Fred/Majestic- did that a few times his last trip when traveling with his two small daughters (5 month old and 4 year old). I should add that we were there in Oct and Dec so I don't know what it might be like during the peak season.

Happy Planning!!

thanks campinggal, we are scheduled to go May7-14. Normal reg season but w/the 50th celebration who knows. :flower: I don't care as long as I'm in WDW I'm happy :teeth:

May I ask a trans. question too? What about going from WL to other resorts, such as AKL and Boardwalk? I definitely want to make some PS at their restaurants! Thanks!!

We always take the boat to the Magic Kingdom then hop a bus from there.

Enjoy! :)
