kpjr,
I noticed you mentioned the codes at mousesavers. THe codes for the Jan-Feb months came out in Oct-Nov if memory serves me right. If you decide on the WL, make the ressie and call back if the code comes out. They should be able to apply it to your existing ressie. I have not done this but have read on the DISboards that others have had lots of success with this. Worse case it you pay rack-rate, but hey you only honeymoon once!! Cindy :flower:

She went to Terrebonne high in the late 90s class of 2000 actually.
We met while in the marching band at Nicholls State though.

With the codes, how do you get them from MouseSavers? I went to the site, but I really didn't see any codes listed anywhere. Also, AAA codes, do you need to be an AAA member to use them??

How do you go about asking for the code when calling for reservations?

Can anyone tell me how long the Holiday decorations stay up at the WL? When are they usually taken down!?

:dancer:
Just paid our deposit on 10 nights at WL! We arrive on Wednesday Nov. 23, staying off property one night and checking in at Disney's Wilderness Lodge (LOVE SAYING THAT!) on Thanksgiving day!
:dancer:

I'm going to go back and start reading this entire thread and take notes. So very happy right now! :wizard:

OMG, totally forgot to add that this is our first time staying on WDW property. It's going to be Magical. :cloud9:

Usually no later than 1/8 or 1/9.

Ok, quick question about Laundry Facilities. Simply...are there any at Wilderness Lodge? and if so where are they located? We'll be staying for 9 days in May and will likely want to do a load or 2 of laundry at the halfway point.

I need some help!!
I have a concierge room booked for our first four nights in March. Then we're switching over to BWI CL. I'm very excited. DD and I are going w/ my SIL and my 2 nieces, ages 6 and 2.
Will we be too cramped and is this even allowed? I definitely told the CM when I booked my trip a couple of months ago but the 2-year-old is not listed on my WL confirmation slip (The BWI slip DOES have her listed). Since she is 2 does it not matter?
Aside from whether the 2-year-old /5th person is allowed, will be be too cramped? We have stayed once at WL in a regular room with a total of 3 people and it was fine. Will there be a pack and play in the room? I'm not even sure my niece will sleep in a Pak-n-Play.
Should I try and get into another MK resort? I know GF and Poly allow 5...
I was really looking forward to trying WL CL but now I'm worried...
Thanks for any advice!

Hi all. I just got back from a wonderful trip "home". When we pulled up to the Lodge on Wednesday morning, my DD2, said this is the place I like. And no matter where we went, she kept saying she wanted to go home. I found out she was calling WL home. (she is my daughter!!) We had a great room, could see the water pageant and most of the fireworks.
And of course the first thing we did was rub Humphrey's nose. :wizard: Our friend lost his drivers licenses and his PDA. He thanked us for telling him about the luck Humphrey brings. Because after he rubbed, he found both. (no joke)
I was on the look out for others, yet saw no one. But we were busy doing wedding stuff.(friends not mine)
Take care eveyone. I hope to have pics soon, I am just too tired right now.

Debbie

Yes, we are still going ahead as scheduled...my MIL is doing fantastically WONDERFUL....she may be going to rehab tomorrow (Kessler Rehab. facilities) if a bed is available!!! I can't even begin to thank all of your payers and well-wishes. Yes, is is having some discomfort, but that is to be expected. My MIL has regained most of her color, as well as her appetite; she is slowly walking, although she is on pain meds for her knee. Thank the Lord she is not 'zoning' on Morpheine like LAST WEEK!

Just got back around midnight last night, and I'm sorry to hear about your MIL Kim, but happy to hear that all appears to be going well and she is well on her way to recovery!

The Lodge was beautiful, and oh so peaceful after a long, busy day. It was full (I know because I tried to add onto our reservation since we didn't leave for MCO until after 4pm yesterday, we wanted to keep a room just in case) and wasn't able to do it, nothing at all available! It did not feel crowded at all. Roaring Forks had lines at times but they moved fairly quickly. They seemed to have added a lot of boats over the weekend as yesterday you could actually see several on the water at the same time.

We had room 5026 overlooking the otter pond with a view of Cinderella's Castle in the background and the monorail in the foreground. We could see fireworks from our balcony but I went up to the end of the 6th floor to watch because the view is unobstructed from there and we would have had to look through some trees from our room.

After we checked in last Sunday night we quickly dropped everything in our room and went over to MGM. Upon returning we found the gift box I had ordered from feralpeg in our room for DD (it was absolutely perfect!), along with some happy birthday balloons and a signed photo of Minnie Mouse made out to DD...very nice touch, except it wasn't her birthday, LOL. She's only two though, and didn't know what the balloons said, she was just happy to have them, LOL. :confused3 :rotfl: There was also a message for us from Dharma, the CM who checked us in, welcoming us 'Home' and letting us know that if we needed anything to just call down, VERY nice.

The lobby is very beautiful and DD loved the bridge over the water. She only tried to climb in once. ;) It is very similar to AKL of course, but I must admit I did miss the AKL 'smell' every time I entered the lobby. The courtyard area is drop-dead gorgeous. I loved, loved, loved it out there. It felt like having two vacations in one. I didn't swim, but DD did, every day. She preferred the baby pool and that was fine with me. The water in there was warmer than in the big pool and it was easy to keep an eye on her. She found lots of little friends to play with, though a couple of times I think there were kids in there who were way too old and should have been in the big pool. Everything everywhere, inside and out, was impeccably neat and tidy...very clean! Some things, I think, could use a refurbishment and are showing their age, but everything was as clean as it could possibly be.

Our lodgekeeper stopped me in the hallway one day, early in the trip, to inquire if the money left on the vanity was supposed to be for her. I assured her that it was and she thanked me repeatedly, and continued to do so every time we passed! Unbelieveable! She seemed truly appreciative of that daily $5 tip, and with a 2-year-old I think she was earning it, LOL. The CMs here are the friendliest I've come across anywhere, I think! We requested turn down service and it was very nice also. One night we were in the room when the CM came and I told her we would pass that night, as we were spread out all over the beds with our dinner...she gave me a huge handful of candies anway!

I found transportation to be a bit slow, compared to AKL last year. I guess it was because AKL had direct busing with no sharing, and WL seemed to always have another stop before we got to where we were going. We would stop at either FW, the Poly, and/or the GF. I also seemed to always wait about 15 minutes for my bus, sometimes 20, whereas at AKL I never waited more than 10 (and then went straight to my destination.) I thoroughly enjoyed the boats, though they also were not what I would consider fast. They were very relaxing, if sometimes overcrowded. I especially liked sitting up front feeling the breeze and listening to the sounds of the water and birds! I think I could spend a day (if I had one to spare ;) ) just riding the boat around in circles. :cloud9:

DD enjoyed playing in the sand and on the little playground. It was never crowded. We also walked the path over to FW. The nature trail has some rough spots if you're using a stroller, LOL, but we made it through. We took the paved path back.

The parks were a good deal more crowded than at this time last year, but we still were able to do most of what we had planned.

I'm still unpacking and such, but if anyone has a question, fire away and I'll do my best to answer!

jcemom that was such a nice report. Thank you so much for sharing. We arn't going till May but the great things being said keep me excited. Thanks again.

 :wave2: princess: princess:

jcemom, That was a great report! :flower: Thanks for sharing! I was wondering, was your room a "woodsview" or a "courtyard view" room? Did you have bunkbeds? We have a woodsview room booked for mid-March and are wondering what to request! We were thinking about re :wave2: questing a 6th floor room, but heard they were all smoking/smoking optional rooms! My ds has allergies, so I don't think that will work! Also, did you have a fridge already in the room upon arrival, or did you have to request it!

Hello,

My family and I are WL vets but new to the DIS. I hope all of you will excuse us until we get things rolling here but look forward to getting and sharing info on WL and WDW.

My wife and I first stayed at WL in March of 95' and have stayed there 8 times in the last 10 years. We've stayed in Courtyard, Woodview and Standard view rooms over the years on each side, end and each floor (except ground floor) there.

We still have our original "Alladin brand" WL refill mugs we got in 95' and still use them each trip for those free refills!

Were are going again for 7 days in April, have a Woodview room reserved for then and can't wait.

Well I hope this works, look forward to any help we can be to anyone going to WL at anytime, or even suggestions from all of you, you learn something new everyday!

Thanks,
Phil

Hi,
Laundry room i just down the hall from Roaring Forks, right across the hall from the elevators.

Have a Magical Time

Debbie- My 3 1/2 yr old daughter did the same thing. She called the room her vacation. We would be at the MK and she would say that she wanted to go back to the vacation. She told everyone that she was a big kid that slept in the bunkbeds. She slept on the bottom but it is still cool she says. The kids love the lodge. I am happy to hear that you had a good time. :wave2:

Our room was a woodsview and it had two queens. It was quite close to the elevator near Roaring Forks, maybe about 4 rooms down the hall. I thought is was a nice location. It was very convenient to Roaring Forks and the courtyard/pool area, not too far from the boat dock, and a bit further to the bus stops, but as the resort isn't all that large it didn't feel like a long walk really. There wasn't a fridge when we got there. I called housekeeping immediately because we had a few requests and were wanting to get to the Studios asap. I asked for extra pillows (beware, they are VERY thick, LOL), a pack'n'play for DD, turndown service, and a fridge. The very nice lodgekeeper on the phone told me that they did not have any fridges available, but she would be sure I got one when it became available the following day. I was fine with that, but when we returned after Fantasmic there was a fridge plugged in and running beneath the vanity in the sink area. It was large enough to fit a half gallon of milk that my mom picked up in the gift shop, along with several bottles of soda, water, and juice, and even a container of fruit and some yogurt/pudding cups.

Quick question. On the first page, it mentions...
STANDARD ROOMS: All Non-Smoking rooms with 2 Queen Beds.
Does this mean there are no bunkbeds in any of the standard rooms? We are going the first week of Dec. We want a lobby view room and thought might as well save the money and go for standard on the fourth floor above check-in. However, we really like the bunkbeds.

Thanks for any help!

are the standard rooms above the check-in the rooms most likely to have balconies that face the roofs?

I know EXACTLY what 'smell' you are talking about!! (WE'LL be 'smelling' it in about 5 days!!)

Wow, you brought me back 'home'...*sigh* I wish part of our stay was at WL!! :guilty: (but I'm sure we are gonna LOVE AKL!!)
