I have another question for all of you experts out there. If I requested a king bed for my stay will I also have bunk beds in the room or will I have ashower instead of a tub? I just requested a king bed b/c the CM asked me if I wanted to when I told him it was for my honeymoon.....

Another question: Do you really need PS for the Whispering Cafe? I mean we are staying there so I figure we will probably eat a few meals there. If it helps were are staying February 7-14th.

You'll Love this thread - really friendly & helpful people here. I'm not a WL 'Vet' yet either - we're going Nov/Dec 2005 (UGH - sounds SOOOO far away!) Wish I could be there this January too - my birthday is the 20th! What an awesome way to celebrate. I hope that you, your wife & daughter have a wonderful time - I KNOW you will. How scary that must have been last trip!

I have to add that I love New Hampshire. What a gorgeous state!

King bed rooms do not come with bunks...so don't worry!
Now about WC, if you don't have a PS, I wouldn't worry too much because the crowds don't start coming till Feb 14th for Presidents week! We have often walked right in and were able to be seated during busy season!

Hi all! I'm a newbie to this thread as well and looking forward to our first stay at WL. We've stayed at AKL the last two years but wanted the closer accessibility to MK since this is a quick trip at the end of our cruise.

We will be there 1/4-1/6 and received a standard rate of $132.50/night (includes tax) for the nights through Dreams Unlimited (LOVE them!). I'm going to ask about an upgrade when we arrive (given that we're there mid-week, I hope we can get one) but in the event we don't get one, are there are specific "really great" standard view rooms? Thanks!

Hi All!

I have been lurking on this thread (and others) for a while. I am so excited as DH and I have booked our first trip to the WL from Jan 30 - Feb 5th. We have been to Disney only twice in last 10 years. Honeymoon at POR (then Dixie Landings) in 1994 and Fort Wilderness in 1998.

I know so much has changed and would appreciate any advice that you WL veterans would have about the WL itself or any other must-see or must-do while we are there.

BTW - I appreciate your informative posts and you all seem so much friendlier then some of the other threads out there.

Just wanted to welcome all of you newbies!...but that of course will only be a temporary title! Shortly after you return from your stays at WL, you too will be figuring out and concocting ways to get back to the Lodge!

Masonpips, I would request a room on the 5th or 6th floor on the North side!...there you may get a view of the fireworks!...and remember EVERYONE...ask to be a "Flag Family" during check-in!!!

I'm so excited! We will be at WL from 12th to 16th. 4 nights in a woods view at AP rate. It's our second trip to WDW and our first at WL. Last trip we stayed at CBR.

This trip we are splitting our stay.

10-12 and Beach Club Resort, cause that's where DH wanted to stay.

12-16 at WL, cause that's where I wanted to stay

and

7-10 at POR so we can afford the other 2!

It's our belated 5th anniversary trip (Nov 27th), Dh's belated birthday (Dec 2nd), and I'm in the 1/2 marathon.

I found out last week that the banking centre where I work is closing and we had been told April for our last day, and now it will be January. I asked DH if we should cancel our trip, and he said no, I will need it by then!

(We have paid our airfare and accommodation, and I have Q&C voucher and VKL vouchers, and we have annual passes, so it's really only spending money left). So we will not being doing much between now and then, so we can save my wages for spending.

I am so looking forward to the 4 nights at WL, we plan to eat at Whispering Canyon, watch the movie at Fort Wilderness and ride the boats!

You guys are going to make me cry... So the story is almost right . What happened was this. Another CM at WL started posting on the Dis, that CM then came back to WL and started asking questions and voicing opinions about 999gshts. Management was trying to find out who 999ghsts was and the situation got a little crazy. Per 999ghsts request to the DisBoard Moderators the sign on was deleted and all posts were removed. However she does still lurk and post, and yes Aspiring Cindy and Florida Cat where quick to pick up on the new sign on... So for all of you that have had questions answered on another thread by Libertybelle...you have been talking to 999ghsts all along Aspiring Cindy has been great about everything, coming to me with questions and then posting the answers herself. I was just sent an email from another Dis member, that knows me, about all the nice things that were being said here about 999ghsts and I thought it was time to let the cat out of the bag and start hanging out again. I am however no longer at WL, I am now at Old Key West so I can try and answer questions that I remember and if you have any vacation club questions or are coming to OKW I would be more than happy to help out there Thanks again guys, you really know how to make someone feel special....

Thanks for all LibertyBelle ...I am new around DIS in 2004 so missed all of the who-ha that must have happened before and missed your posts. But I KNOW that I must have benefited from lots of your advice/recs for WL rooms and booking etc. THANKS!! I am a CM-in-my-dreams and live vicariously thru you real CMs. I have never set foot in WL but feel as though I have thanks to all of the vets that share knowledge and experience and PICS here!

Question: ..OK, don't laugh...really, don't...but is it really worth being flag family if...we are without kids this trip AND we are only staying 3 nights and hate to miss the early entry??????? I said, don't laugh so QUIT!! . I know that it is an honor and you get a great view but it sounds like it takes away from AM early benefits.

Libertybelle Thank you so much for all your help in the past, and welcome back. It's sure nice to hear from you again. Funny, we were having BIGtime trouble getting ressies at WL, and had them made at OKW instead! Then the AKL thing came along, and we decided to take that, and split our stay with WL, but we couldn't get a discount rate at WL no matter what kind of dance we did! SO...........we are only staying there for 3 nights, , but I'm sure AKL will be wonderful also. Anyway, nice to hear from you again, and stick around!

Then I have read your post and even taken your advise. It's so funny how you can always tell when someone knows what they are talking about and enjoys sharing the MAGIC. Thank You, for all that you do on the boards...I am a DVC Member I have two homes my first was The Villas @ Wilderness Lodge, then this pass summer I purchased over at BoardWalk Villas, I have stayed at OKW several times and am going to try out the new pool as soon as it's completed. I'm glad you are still around and feel like we have a "Guardian Ghost" watching out for us.

What I would do is ask to see if it is available, then see if the EMH that you would miss would really make that big of a difference. Missing an hour of TOT or RnR maybe important to you if the scheduled day was EMH for MGM, but might not effect your plans if it was on the morning for AK to open early. Play it by ear, you don't have to do it if it would effect your other plans. Hope you have a great stay either way.

Okay, so now, here's something ELSE to add to my saga: Dreams Unlimited finally returned my quote request yesterday. I was quoted $2,295 for 2/20-2/26 at WL for a std room for 4(2 adults-2 children) with tax and unlimited park access! Now I gotta figure out how much it would cost for the multi-day passes with the $161 [or $181 for Ft wilderness cabin] quote I got thru CRO with the code......

Wow, hadn't posted on the boards for so long I forgot my user name! When I saw Libertybelle's post had to add my undying gratitude for all the magic she has thrown my way since my first trip with my DD three years ago. CM's like her are what make Disney more than just a theme park and I will consider her a friend for life.

I love the wl and hope you all have wonderful stays there, we are visiting for just one night in November and will be at the CR this trip because there are five of us (although one seems like she is backing out and I am ready to kill her because we could have booked the wl if I had known there were only going to be four of us)! Oh well, have never stayed at the CR so it should be nice to try something new. I definitely plan on a boat trip over to the WL to show my Mom the beauty of it while we are there though and hope to stay there again on our next trip - whenever that may be!

I would sign-up to be Flag Family when you check-in, Then schedule a PS for dinner at Artist Point, take the tour of the Lodge "Wonders of the Lodge," it is offered to guest on various days, Ask for the list of Hidden Mickeys at Guest services and try and find them all. Be sure not to miss the EWP out on Bay Lake every night at 9:35pm.

I was just reading the Loung Lizzard thread - just the last few pages

and it seems that the WL CL is getting a lounge area - anyone here hear anything more.

I'm going in January and I am sure it won't be ready then - I wonder if the construction will interfere with regular operations...
