The NEW WL FAQ (Part 5) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

Depending on actual concierge room availability at the time, they will probably offer you between $40 and $60 a night to upgrade to concierge. If they come to you with $60 make sure you try to bargain. Say something like, "Well, I might do $50 a night but I can't see us doing $60."

It worked for my in-laws last year and they did actually drop the price.

When we arrive in January, if they have any availability on the Conceirge level is it a good chance that I could upgrade to the conceirge with a discounted rate? Has this happened for any of you and if so how much additional did you pay a night?

Not sure when they assign the rooms but I can say that you can make the request in advance and specify that you don't want to be near the smoking area. Then when you check in, make sure that they note the request you made in advance.

Wilderness Lodge has "NEVER" failed us when it comes to room assignments. I am confident you will be pleased.

LibertyBelle...or any one else who knows... We have a woods view room booked for Nov 9 (yes, sadly only 1 day). Now, I was wondering when the rooms are actually assigned. I have only requested nonsmoking as that is very important to us. It would be nice to have a north woods view to hopefully see the MK fireworks. I didn't request it because I am happy no matter where we were but at checkin, I was going to ask. Might they be able to accommodate us at that time or is it already "set in stone"? Thanks so much.

Thanks for the quick reply and awesome service... I want my wife to see what it can be like with that level of service, I think she would really enjoy it.

Thanks again Dave

....where are campinggal, BluOrchid2, and Ratpack??? Heven't 'seen' 'em around these parts for quite a few....if you are lurking, stop by and 'set a spell'!!:D

Dave, trust me, you have GOT to try it at least ONCE. My DW didn't want to do it when they first offered it to us a few years ago. Since then neither her or I can think of NOT staying concierge. Especially at the Lodge because the CMs there are magical ya know. They really help to make your trip fantastic. That's my first hand experience and you can take that to the bank. :)

Enjoy!

P.S. Did we discuss what your dates were? We are also going in January. 10th to the 16th.

Thanks Fred

We will miss each other by a couple of days we are going from 20th - 29th. I am hoping that is they have the upgrade open it wil be affordable, if not then next time.

Thanks again Dave

What are the benefits of upgrading to concierge level at check in? I am just asking because I know that a lot of the benefits are that they can get ps for their guests beforehand. Are the concierge rooms any different than regular rooms? Is there a nice lounge or something? I have a courtyard room booked and I have a 3 and 5 yr. old with us. I was just wondering if it was worth an additional $350?
Tara

Well, it's actually personal preference but you have to like being spoiled. I do!!! Some may have other "opinions" (we all know what those are worth!) but my wife and I really enjoy the atmosphere and the extra care you get on the concierge floor. The food that is out throughout the day is also a big perk. You get something to snack on anytime you want.

There is no lounge at WL concierge...YET...they are building one in but it won't be ready till mid 2005.

Was this your server? He told the girls he was "Billy the Kid."But his Cast Pin had another name. (can't remember) When I asked him about it he said: "You do know what an alias is?" Us outlaws use many names. Both girls fell in love with him...and yes even if you have to wait for one of his tables to open, it was worth it.

That is not him! My server was Bobby!

Oh well, "Billy the Kid" was also great, both of my nieces fell in love with him, the next morning we had to wait until one of his tables cleared...it was worth the wait because when he saw them he made a big deal about them stalking him. They both ordered the Little Gabby's Flapjacks then requested ketchup, he said if he got the ketchup they would have to eat it on the flapjacks...which they both did.

I have been lurking, but I have to respond to that.

YuK!

:crazy2: :scared1: :crazy2:

Actually they were almost finished with just a bite or two left, of course "Billy" made them stand on their chairs and he did the airplane game to get them to open their mouths.

 I here!! Thanks for asking about me!!

I'd love nothing more sit a spell- maybe in a rocker by the big fireplace....with a nice glass of red wine...maybe an Australian Shiraz.....

POP!

There goes my day dream!!

I find I 'lurk' more on this board to ensure we stick to 'bizness. I'm still a 'Vet in Training' so I usually defer a response to our Sr Vets! ::yes::

Happy WL planning everybody! You will get hooked if it is your first time!

We are there the same time as you!

We have a woods view booked for 12 to 16!

It will be our first stay at WL, and we are really looking forward to it.

I got news last week that my job (along with 200+ of my colleagues) will be elminated in January, so this will be an extra special treat for us now.

We are looking forward to relaxing in the hot tub, and eating at whispering canyon.

Thanks for the help and all. I talked to Miguel(sp) on the conceirge floor last night and then talked to my wife and if they have a good discount and room available we are gonna upgrade. We might as make are first visit to the WL a special one.

Do you think that they will have some conceirge level rooms open the last week and half of Jan.?

Thanks again

Dave

Let's make sure we meet up to say hello in person ok? :) PM me and I will send you cell phone details.

Miguel is awsome. He takes great care of everyone.

Remember, January is a somewhat slow month so there may be availability but they also actively offer upgrades to guests whenever there are to keep the rooms filled. It's a tough call if you want to risk waiting till checkin. Worse case scenario they may not have immediate availability but you can be moved into concierge when there is. The other option is that you can have concierge floor access from another floor. It's the same price but you just have to take th eelevator up to the 7th floor for concierge.

I think they stopped doing this. It may have just been temporary, so you may want to check.

Thanks

Unless I can get a reasonable upgrade at check in it won't happen. When I called yesterday to CR they told me my price now would go up about 175 % which I can't afford. We will wait and see what kind of pixie dust is flying when we arrive.

Thanks Dave
