::yes:: We returned from the Lodge on September 25 and DH and I have already started planning for an October 2005 return!!!!!

Also, our room (5026) had great views of the otter pond, Wishes, and CR.

Hi, the following is from my post when we returned last May 30 2004. Though I'm not sure of the scheduled time-frame for the changes...I'll try and check out the status next week.

After visiting with each other Fred called upstairs and arranges for us to take a tour of the 7th Floor Concierge. One of the Concierge CM’s Daisy comes down to the lobby and escorts us to the 7th floor. We where met by the Guest Service Manager over Concierge Mark Newman, he was very nice and we received a warm welcome. After introducing us to the other CM’s on duty Mark gave us a tour of the area and went into detail of all the upcoming changes to the 7th floor at The Wilderness Lodge. Mark has already started plans for two new lounges to be added to existing dead space areas on the floor. The designers have come up with some beautiful ideas, Mark also has several plans to update the Lodges offering by possible adding all the Jr. Suites access to concierge as well as all or parts of the sixth floor for guest who prefer the open balconies. We where shown one on the Deluxe Honeymoon Suites it was much larger then standard room and it has a beautiful bath area.

....a couple o' us (not me:( !) are doin' the SINGLE-DIGIT HAPPY DANCE!!! Woohoo!!

Hello all,

Thanks for a great FAQ. We have stayed at most other WDW Resorts, and since we needed a one night prelude to our upcoming Land/Sea cruise package, we took an early night at WL, going for a courtyard view. We got a great rate of $151 including tax. I've eaten at Whispering Canyon many times over the years, and we had great times with "Chuck Wagon", our favorite server, who unfortunately for us, has moved on ( to the Wedding Pavillion last I heard). Anyway, we figued WL was perfect for us since we're doing MVMCP on 11/30, and it was a chance to stay close by, and check out a new ( for us) resort. We plan on getting there early afternoon, exploring the grounds and building, maybe hit the pool if it's not too cool out. Afterwards, we'll have dinner at Whispering Canyon, then head over to the MK for the Christmas Party.

The next day we move over to AKL for four more nights ( we also added an extra day on there), then four nights on the Disney Wonder.

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated!!!

Thanks, and take care,

Bill

Our first ever trip is getting so close - I am starting to realize all that I haven't done and haven't prepared for! LOL! Keep the great tips coming - I read this thread religiously. We want to really enjoy the lodge while we are there, along with the parks. I honestly think I am waaaaaaaaay more excited than my 8yo dd! LOL!! :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

Hi, and WELCOME to the Wilderness Lodge FAQ Thread. The only suggestion I will give you is to make a PS over at the MAGIC KINGDOM for dinner. With your MVMCP ticket you will be able to enter the park at 4:00pm to enjoy the park and dinner. I only say this because if you wait until closer to start time for the party everyone at Ft. Wilderness Campground and Wilderness Lodge will be trying to depart at the same time and ::yes:: there can be a long wait for the boat to MK If you arrive early no long waits and you will be able to receive you ID band at the gate...when the park closes to the general public you will be asked to move to special waiting area (tomorrowland or Liberty Square) You may be able to get your photo taken early before a long line.

For those that have PSs for WC...at the podium, ask to have "BOBBY The Kid" as your server! He will not disappoint! In fact, your families will be talking about it for months! I have eaten at WC at least a dozen times, and never had the experience that I had this past visit! He is INSANE!! ::yes::

I am sooo glad Libertybelle has revealed herself!

What I would do is ask to see if it is available, then see if the EMH that you would miss would really make that big of a difference. Missing an hour of TOT or RnR maybe important to you if the scheduled day was EMH for MGM, but might not effect your plans if it was on the morning for AK to open early. Play it by ear, you don't have to do it if it would effect your other plans. Hope you have a great stay either way. Beckie

Beckie:
I appreciate your input. I guess I didn't ask it fully. What goes on during the flag family event to cause me to WANT to give up EMH or R&R??? I have seen the views and know it is a special WL thing bestowed on the lucky few but...is it just and hour tour up there and a look around and a quick flag raise? I know the view is spectacular.
Ann (still red-faced from being laughed at! lol!!!):scared1:

Another Great Server at WCC is Hop-Along (I think that is what he goes by) his name is Kalvin Higgins (goes by Higgins) WONDERFUL!!!! He is a lot of fun as well (He is usually there for Breakfast).

Other then the honor of raising the flags for the day, meeting Ranger Stan, and the view...thats about it. Oh you will get to see the Lobby from the 7th floor if you have never been up there. For a quick trip it may not be something you would want to give park time up for, I have been to the parks so many times that I feel that Flag Day is a special experance that most never have the opportunity to enjoy.

HughJackman'n'me - you read my mind, if we can get there anywhere near dinner time I would love to eat at the WCC and see the look on my Mom's face when she asks for ketchup!

If any of you guys are lucky enough to be flag family ask Stan if the fish are biting!

Was this your server? He told the girls he was "Billy the Kid."But his Cast Pin had another name. (can't remember) When I asked him about it he said: "You do know what an alias is?" Us outlaws use many names. Both girls fell in love with him...and yes even if you have to wait for one of his tables to open, it was worth it.

our wait for WCC wasn't long enough...
the kids (to include my dh) didn't have enough time to finish their creation on the Lincoln Logs Table!
We didn't have ps's and we ate there 3x on our ten day stay (at dinner time when the lincoln log table was full we just enjoyed the lobby while we waited - ds who was 2 at the time LOVED the bridge while I personally loved sitting in the rocking chair near the fire!

We loved the fireplace so much that when we build our new house next year we sorta designed it similar - meaning full rock all the way pas tthe catwalk up through the cathedral ceiling - but we will be using rocks from the land itself so it won't have that kewl stacked colored thing going on!

....pic of your DD's!

:scratchinHmmmmm, SOMEONE'S doin' the "Single-Digit Dance"!

When we arrive in January, if they have any availability on the Conceirge level is it a good chance that I could upgrade to the conceirge with a discounted rate? Has this happened for any of you and if so how much additional did you pay a night?

Thanks Dave

LibertyBelle...or any one else who knows... We have a woods view room booked for Nov 9 (yes, sadly only 1 day). Now, I was wondering when the rooms are actually assigned. I have only requested nonsmoking as that is very important to us. It would be nice to have a north woods view to hopefully see the MK fireworks. I didn't request it because I am happy no matter where we were but at checkin, I was going to ask. Might they be able to accommodate us at that time or is it already "set in stone"? Thanks so much.
