Hi everyone i am new to this site and i got some great tips. We will be staying at WL for the first time in Nov. I am trying to find a room location or room# where we will be able to see wishes from our room. Our 4 yr.old dd just doesn't stay awake to late and i don't want the rest to miss out on the fireworks. I have a courtyard view requested but i don't think thats what i want. Thanks in advance for the help.

Hello and welcome to the Dis! I am excited for you that you have chosen WL, you will LOVE it. You will want to switch to a woodsview room if you want to view MK, remember it isn't a sure thing that you will get it. Last year I requested 5th floor MK side. We checked in early and were able to get our requests so I was quite happy. We had a similar situation and watched the fireworks from the balcony every night while our kids slept, HEAVEN. Hoping to get a similar room this year, CAN'T WAIT!. Enjoy your trip!

We'll try and make our reservation this weekend !!!

THANK YOU so much , Beckie !!!
We will try as usual DU - they also take good care of all of our ADRs !!!! and we really would not want to bother you with them also !!! :teeth:

BUT ... should we need your help ... we'll surely ask !!!!
(I've posted at home!!)

SHOULD I ask for a specific STANDARD room ??? :rotfl2: just kidding !!!

My family and I are booked for 8 days in oct/2206 for WL Concierge. Can someone tell me what the food & drink offerings are. Could we make a light dinner of the food offerings? What is breakfast like? How does the food offerings compare with the AKL?

Thks,

A Proud Canadian who loves WDW!!!!

Snacks and Refreshments 11:30am - 4:00pm
Wine and Cheese Selections 5:00 - 7:00pm
Cordials and Desserts 8:00 - 10:00

The Breakfast has bagels, croissants, pastries, inividual serving boxes of cereal, juice, milk, coffee, tea (butter, cream cheese, honey, peanutbutter, jelly) - I think that's it.

Snacks - I only glimpsed them once this trip - mostly things like pretzels, mixed nuts, gummi bears and beverages

Wine and Cheese - Cheese platter, veggie platter, crackers, bread (butter)with a wonderful redpepper dip, a different hot soup every night, a different hot entree every night (stews, meat, chicken etc), peanutbutter and jelly uncrustables, soda, water, wine, beer, coffe tea

Cordials and Desserts - Several kinds of cookies, brownies, yummy sweat cookie bars, a hot fruit cobbler (berry, apple) coffee, hot chocolate, milk, tea, wine and about 4 bottles of cordials... Kahlua, Baileys, etc

Lesley, Thanks so much for the advice I am going to change my reservations to woodsview and hope for the best. We are so excited, now we just have to be patient and wait for November to get here. :tink:

Hi WL Experts! We have recently booked at the WL for our vacation Aug 26 - Sept 3. We can't wait! When we saw the lobby on our first night in Aug 2004 during a visit to WCC, my DH said that this is where we would be staying on our next visit. (This from a man who did not want to go to WDW in the first place and on the first night is talking about our next visit!?!? Thank goodness I had decided on WCC for our first dinner! We hadn't even visited any of the parks yet!)
We booked a courtyard view room. The only reservation requests we made were for non-smoking and bunk-beds. As I've been reading through this thread I realized that courtyard view did not necessarily mean "inner" courtyard view. If upon arrival we are assigned a room without the inner courtyard view, how difficult is it to change our room assignment? Should we wait until we get there and hope for the best or should we have our agent add it to our reservation. (I realize that there are no guarantees and it certainly wouldn't be the end of the world if we didn't get bunkbeds or an inner courtyard view - but it would be nice after paying a little extra for a view.)
Thanks in advance for your advice!

If I were you I would definitely call your agent and have Inner Courtyard View added to your reservation, the room assigners do a great job but why even risk it. You never know how many guest will be checking-in the same day as you are.

Hi Beckie! All is Great, and yes most of us are busy planning summer trips to WDW & Swan/Dolphin (trying to figure out dates). I was just thinking of the "memory" box, Fred...and all the wonderful times we had at the WL. Artist Point (oh, that planked Salmon...) remains one of our #1 favorite restaurants on property. Along with all the hootin' and hollerin' while riding stick horses over in the cafe  (the associates still do this, right?). They offer one of the BEST skillet breakfasts we've ever enjoyed (please tell me this is also still available). With so many "changes" implemented at WDW from year to year, you never know where the axe will fall next?!?

It's such a beautiful place, :lovestruc the grounds have probably matured SO much since we last stayed there (not long after it opened). The trees were small/tiny then...making just about every room a FIREWORKS/MK view...lol! We received an incredible promotional rate offer, and upgraded to concierge at the desk upon arrival. We also "extended" this stay to make for a full week once at the lodge. Looking back at what we paid, we should have extended it for a full MONTH!! :teeth: But, concierge back then was in it's baby stages...and was nothing like it is today.

I will definitely have to VISIT the resort this year, for old~time's sake. It will be nice to shop, dine and walk around the grounds and view the landscaping, changes, etc. I still recall the absolute glee and excitement :yay: associated with reserving this place for the first time. We were all so happy--planning and anticipating exploring, swimming and relaxing. The feelings never diminished (not even after arriving)---if anything, they only got better! :goodvibes I just recall how much DD loved every part of it---from the pool to the lobby and shops.

We experienced many "magical" moments together during that week. A cast member "gifted" DD with a plush *Humphrey Bear* near her birthday (we left one day BEFORE the actual date). You would have thought she gave her the MOON! It was actually on her bed when we returned to the room...propped on her pillow with a big bow, and a card signed by Mickey and Minnie too. It reminded us of the time we stayed in the lodge at Yellowstone near old faithful, (but so much better). Rustic, yet charming. Warm and inviting, with a true touch of genuine "Wilderness" (ala Disney Style!). Yet, there are some things which can not be faked. Disney engineers and developers, architects and design teams are simply...the BEST. ;)

I'm so happy to see you are all still here...generously offering information and planning assistance on one of the best resorts in the park! :cloud9: Perhaps '06 is the year I surprise DH/DD with a stay in an old familiar friend, walking down memory lane, visiting the past. :thumbsup2 Are the buses still efficient over at the lodge? The ferry is still one of my favorite rides to the MK! Traveling back at night...seeing the lights of the lodge flickering through the trees...brings back some warm & wonderful feelings.

Thanks for the welcome and hello! Nice to see some things never change...

P.S. Kimmar...~my heart goes out to the three young teens involved in the horrific car accident last week, (Louis, Joe and Richie). Thank the Lord no one was killed in this incident. To think illegal substances may have played a part in the incident is disheartening. I'll keep them in my prayers, and hope they all recover from their injuries.

I'm in the early planning stages for our May 2007 trip. I was thinking of going back to AKL, but now we think a 1 bedroom villa at WL might be better because it has a kitchen. We stayed at WL a few years back (2001). How is transportation now? What hotel does it share bus service with? How good is the bus service? Any opinions on the villas? Are they worth the extra $$$$?

Nik's Mom

First do I think the one-bedroom villa worth it. :rolleyes1 Well after staying there I purchased DVC $$$$$ so yes ::yes:: I do believe the extra space, kitchen, washer, dryer, two TV's, king size bed, and jacuzzi tub are worth it.

Everyone is always asking about transportation at Wilderness Lodge, I truly don't understand why? :confused3

I have stayed in most all the resorts so I know there are always some days when it seems the bus just takes forever. The routes will depend on the time of year and crowd level. The most common route seems to have the Lodge and Campground to share EPCOT and MGM, some trips may take you over to the Grand Floridian if not shared with the Campground.

The bus to AKL may stop by Blizzard Beach thats due to location. The DTD bus may also stop at Typhoon Lagoon due to location. The bus to Magic Kingdom is direct.

The only bus that I have had a problem with would be the DTD bus but it's because of DTD not Wilderness Lodge the DTD bus service is terriable at all the resorts. The worst for me was while staying at AKL.

The worst bus service for an entire trip would be over at the Beach Club and Boardwalk. (bus would arrive but only one or two people could board)

I have always been able to get a seat when getting on the bus at Wilderness Lodge. When sharing the routes the Lodge is always the first to be picked-up and the first to be let off when returning from the park.

Hope this information has helped, have a GREAT TRIP whichever resort you choose.

Beckie

Here is the link to the on-line version of the WDW Vacation Planning Video: click here. Once you’re on that webpage, click on the RESORTS button. The webpage will rearrange itself and some new buttons regarding the Resorts will appear. Put your mouse over the Disney Deluxe Resorts Overview entry and select “Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.” A video window will open and the Wilderness Lodge video will begin to play.

It’s a nice way to experience a little bit of Disney magic without leaving the comfort of your home. ;)

Thanks for the info, Beckie. I'm doing research on VWL, OK and SSR, then passing it on to DH so we can make a decision. VWL is high up on my list!
