The NEW WL FAQ (Part 5) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

I just had to post a note of thanks for all of the information I have found on this thread. You all are so generous. I should be dreaming of springing forward, but I couldn't stop reading.

I booked WL (DH and DS5, too) this morning for our Nov 27-Dec 2 trip. My last stay at WL was our honeymoon in June `96, so I am THRILLED. More importantly, we can't wait to share the experience with our son.

Now, I must remove the toothpicks from my eyelids and try to sleep.
Daylight savers.... Spring forward.

Just decided on the WL after watching the video again and giving the kids a say! Now I have my research cut out for me since I haven't read much on this resort other than this thread. My question is: can I book a junior suite with concierge? Are the concierage rooms the same size as the standard rooms? We want to stay concierage but the deluxe suites look wonderful and would love the extra space. I have two boys (pictured below) who need a little extra room. Love this thread and can't wait to arrive!

I haven't been here in a while, but here's a link to some of my pictures from my recent stay at WL. These pics are in my (incomplete) trip report. Enjoy!

Some WL photos

Hi,

As of now the Junior Suites aren't available with Concierge, but after the new work is completed adding a larger area for the Concierge Lounge it maybe.

The manager over concierge told me last year that he would like to be able to offer this to guest that want the extra room of the Deluxe rooms (Jr. Suite) and concierge . You can always call ande ask if it would be possible for your stay, but your Jr. Suite wouldn't be located on the 7th floor.

The rooms on the 7th floor are the same sq.ft as the other rooms at the Lodge with the exception of the Suites.

I have stayed in the Jr Suites Deluxe rooms several times before they built the Villas, I would book a 1-bedroom Villa if it was just for the extra room for your two boys I love having the king size bed and whirlpool bath in the Master bathroom, the washer/dryer and full kitchen available.

Hope you are feeling better, I loved your photo's, Thanks for posting them.

I have often wondered about the Jr Suites and concierge service. DH and I love to stay at WL Concierge level, but we always wanted a "little" extra room. An the other two suites up on 7 are a little out of our price range. We also thought about the villa's which would you choose, the concierge or the extra room of the villas?? Just wondering. We may be going with the in-laws next year, trying to figure out where we all would have more room.

Does anyone know if you can obtain any sort of discount renting a villa through cro? I have rented points before but our stay includes a saturday and this year is a "potential" strike year for DH so I need the flexibility of cancelling.

I have another thread started and was advised to post this here as well. I have read various reports from people staying at WL lately, some were told they didn't allow the evening turndown service to individuals staying outside of Concierge, and others were given the service sporadically after it was requested. I was so confused by the mixed reports that I called the WL front desk last night and the CM put me on hold for awhile and then came back and told me that turndown service is for concierge only. I went to the Disney website and it says "turndown service available upon request". We will be staying woodsview/ not concierge and wanted this service as an extra added luxery of staying in a deluxe for the first time. Can you help me with this? Is it available upon request for everyone? Will they honor it? Someone on another thread she requested it at check in and the CM told her it was only for concierge. People at AKL have reported getting it every night no problem when they aren't staying concierge. Would love to hear your stories/experiences.

...We recently returned from AKL (both concierge AND 'regular' guests) and we only got turn-down service with concierge! :teeth:

Did you request it and were turned down, or did you not request it? That is my confusion because I know it is a given with concierge but on the website it says "turndown service available upon request".

Lesley

...we never asked for turn-down service, but it was a pleasant surprise! :flower: (complete with chocolates and all!)

DH and I were at WL August 2004 . our first time !
I called HOUSEKEEPING and asked for turndown one morning, the lady answered :NO problem. I left a " Thank you" envelope :flower: with my tip inside on the table ...
At night, coming back VERY TIRED from MK , we found the room with a few lights on ,our beds with "turn down" , MILK and 2 VERY BIG COOKIES on the table. In the bathroom 2 of our towels had the shape of a ... maybe bear, I have to say it was cute...but you had to use your imagination ! DH thought it was a sleeping bear !!! :goodvibes

We didn't ask for turndown anymore after that day, but from time to time our towels had very "strange" shapes....flowers or a "basket" with our soap inside or a "face" with my straw hat on it ...

WE WERE DELIGHTED !!!!!!

WL is just WONDERFUL !!!!

I'm sure you'll have a great time !!! JUST ASK !!!! we found every cast member there very willing to meet every request we might have !!!

laura
Almost forgot : we paid for a woods view and were upgraded (free) to courtyard.

That sounds wonderful, I will definitely request it!!! Thanks for the advice.

I have to say reading this thread has made me a litle home sick. My DD and I are going at the end of April (without DH), so I thought we should save some money and stay at Pop. As the time gets closer, I am sad to not be staying at WL. :sad2: ( I do not know what I was thinking) I will miss the music, smell, and feel that it has. I hope I did not make the wrong choice.

Take care everyone
Debbie

Debbie,

I am excited about our trip coming up at WL, we have only stayed on site one other time and that was at POP. I must say we LOVED it and hesitated switching to WL but just couldn't resist with the code we got and the cheap price to upgrade. I hope you enjoy POP, we had a 4 year old with us who LOVED it, it is a fun resort, I'm sure it's not a WL but it is an enjoyable resort.
Lesley

I glad to hear a good report on Pop. You will love WL. Just feels like home and you are treated in that respect. Have a wonderful trip. Thank you for putting me at ease.

Debbie

:cool1: :cool1: 5 DAY'S and were OFF to the WL :cool1: :cool1:
anyone else gonna be there next week!!
Might have to put in a little request for the turndownservice!!
 if I actually remember once I get there! ;)

do you all still have the secret box thing going on?? Can you link me to the thread on it? I can't find it now!

Hi pattyT,

We will be at the WL in 6 days! This is our 3rd time at the WL in the past 3 years. After the winter we had here in New England, I am really looking forward to sitting by the WL pool (drink in hand!) and watching the geyser go off while my kids are going down the WL slide!

See you there!
- Karen

Hey Karen -
I am from MA too! :earboy2: Im in North Central - you??
This is only our second time in three years though :)
We were suppose to go LAST May but having a baby got in the way a little - I refused to go Prego since I AM the one who likes all the thrill rides!!

So I will be right there next to ya by the pool (I wish I could have lost some of this 'baby' fat first but ohhh well!)
