The NEW WL FAQ (Part 5) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY! Part 2

We booked 4 standard rooms this past December and were given 4 rooms overlooking the lobby, right above the check in desk. Even though we were told by many that there were no connecting rooms in the standard view category, we had connecting rooms with my MIL. We were in 4094 and I guess she was 4095. They were great rooms- we loved looking out over the lobby and they had rocking chairs right outside of our room to sit in and watch everything going on in the lobby.

Just a last question, do all rooms have balcony?

YanJan

Yes ::yes:: all the rooms at Wilderness Lodge have balconies, unless your room is located on the ground floor level then you would have a patio.

I'm finally at the part in my trip report where we check into the Wilderness Lodge. The trip was in mid-November. I have quite a few exterior photos, photos of the inside of the room and of our view room # 4090. The next couple of episodes will cover some of our experiences there, including dinner at WCC. If you enjoy trip reports at all, please stop over and see the pictures and/or read the report. We start out at ASMu for one night then transfer to WL. Thanks everyone. I really enjoyed the Lodge and everyone's info here was very helpful. :thumbsup2

I think I might have finally talked DH into staying at WL!!!!! :cloud9: I do have a couple of questions, however. Is there a WL website out there somewhere similar to tikiman's Poly site? I also would like to know the earliest in the am we could get ADR's for CM and CRT and still be able to use the boats or bus and get there on time. We will have a car but I emphatically DO NOT want to drive to the TTC if we can avoid it. TIA everyone.

We have booked CM and CRT for 1 hour before park opens and had no issues getting there. But that has been a couple years ago, so I can't say whether anything has changed. I would recommend calling the WL directly and ask this question directly to them.

Enjoy the lodge, it is truly the best place to stay at WDW in our opinion. We are kind of bummed, because our family has outgrown the room size now and are looking at the Poly as our resting place. BUT WL will always be our favorite!:thumbsup2

Just booked my WoodsView room at WL , any tips on what I should request?

ETA: I guess I should post my travel dates I'm heading down Oct 13-21. MNSSHP here I come.

Request a room on the North side with a possible view of MK. You can also request specific room numbers, room 5032 has been a great one for people in the past as you can see MK and the fireworks from your balcony.

I didn't know you could request a particular room. Hmmmm....guess I'll be calling the AAA agent back. So far, I have requested North Wing, 5th floor, MK view. I love the view from 5032 but I'm assuming everyone else does too.:rotfl: I put a woods view room on hold on Monday and just got up the nerve to tell DH(who thought I was planning on ASMo) yesterday. He took it much better than I thought, especially after I showed him all the linked pictures from this thread. If Disney doesn't come through with free DDP, we may have to change plans again, but for now, I'm on:cloud9: !!!!!! I know my kids would probably prefer ASMo, but Mom needs R & R too and WL looks like the place for it. I don't know why it appeals to me so much, considering we live in a log home, but I can't wait!

Oh, I actually have a question for all you WL vets. When, if ever, do they have fires in the lobby fireplace? I figure in Florida they would never actually NEED it, but I wondered if they have one occasionally just for ambience. Also, how big are the refrigerators? Thanks.

Hello fellow Kentuckian,

I go to the WL every September and there has always been a fire going!
The refrigerators are the small ones you see in college dormitories!
You can't go wrong with the WL!

Thanks for the quick responses. I know I'm weird, but I was hoping for a fire at the first of October. I'm happy to hear they keep one going just for looks. As for the fridge, can it hold a gallon of milk? Thanks.

If memory serves me well, I think a gallon of milk will sit in the bottom of the fridge but that is about all you will get on that shelf. What we usually do is get the 1/2 gal size (I think) from the Mercantile and it fits in the door portion of the fridge and leaves more room for drinks and other stuff.

Just got back from the Wilderness Lodge Villas a couple days ago.

Even on Thursday when it was really warm outside (high 70's) they had a fire going in the main lobby and in the Villa's Iron Spike room.

The Mercantile sells 1/2 gallon's of milk for about $3 (really good tasting too!) It fit both on the bottom shelf and in the door.

We currently have reservations for the Atrium Club level at the Contemporary for December 15 - 27. Now DH has seen some photos and decided he's not sure anymore especially with all the restaurant changes going on at the CR etc.

This past October we stayed on the Old Faithful Club level and while it was wonderful we found the room very small for 3 adults. Also the boat transportation was slow and erratic compared to our visit in 1997 (no bus to MK due to road construction).

I recently read somewhere on the DIS that WL's deluxe rooms now have concierge access (as of January 1st I think). If this is true then this would be another option for us since we plan to spend more time in our room on this visit. I love the WL, especially at Christmas and would enjoy this resort most of all!

Can anyone confirm that deluxe rooms at WL definitely have access to the Old Faithful Club?

I may have ,missed this on here........does anyone know the extent of the WL pool renovation, i.e. simply painting? enlarging? upgrading? or what? I know it will reopen around 3/31 but that's all I do know.

I'd like to hear about the pool as well and the extent of renovations from anyone recently there--we are leaving on thurs and very disappointed about the pool not being open

We just returned home from the lodge last night. Here are a couple of things I thought I would pass along.

They were working on the pool, but it was not too disruptive. When we were there they were working on replacing the edging all around the pool. The kiddie pool and spa were still open. We used the quiet pool at the Villas one day and took the boat to swim at the Contemporary one day. In both cases the pools were not crowded so it worked out great. The Trout Pass bar reopened on Feb. 6th.

We did see Ranger Stan taking a flag family up one day, so it looks like that program may still be running.
