My mother (1st timer) and I are arriving on Sunday and will be there until the following Saturday. I've got us booked on the Concierge Level. She doesn't have a clue! I told her to check out the DISboards and AllEarsNet if she wanted to get a bit of information before she left and she stumbled across the Concierge description for the WL. She's quite disappointed we're not going to be staying on the Club Level.:rolleyes1 I've got my LGMHs. I'll have one on my bag and maybe stick one on our WL room door.

Just made my downpayment for my trip this September! One quick question - why is a courtyard view room considered better (and more expensive) than a woods view? I would think the courtyard would be nosier while some of the woods views see the Magic Kingdom? Thanks!

The courtyard of the WL is beautiful and the view is great, however we prefer to stay in a woods view room facing the Magic Kingdom. We have always been lucky enough to get a room with a great view of the monorail and fireworks at the MK. Nothing beats watching Wishes in your pjs after a long day at the park!

I'm hoping to have your kind of luck in October. That's exactly what I want, too.

Tinkerooni, sorry no answer to your question but I am looking for a favour. If poss could you check for me if there is soya milk/non dairy products available at WL as we are planning a trip in May and DD19mths has terrible eczema triggered by dairy? Thanks in advance from Kirstie

I just had time to mosey over to the boards now. Were you asking me to check on this for you? Happy to. Funny if you were because my DD is lactose intolerant and I will be looking for lactaid. I don't think I mentioned that here did I? I was told that I had to call in advance and they would have what we needed. Two more days WOO HOO!:cool1: Two more days WOO HOO!:cool1:

Thanks so much tinkarooni. When I saw that you are going soon and I thought I would impose on your good nature. How spookey that your wee honey has the same problem, we have only know for three months and are scanning the supermarkets for dairy free products (not the easiest thing to find).

Have a fantastic time (I know you definately will!!!) and thank you so much...from Kirstie

Gee all of you are so making me want to go back now!! We were just there this past Nov./Dec. Our next trip is the same time frame this year. I'm hoping there is a DVC in our very near future!!

Wonderful news about DVC, sending Pixie Dust for you and your family. Which DVC resort will you be purchasing SSR or AKV? Or maybe a resale @ VWL?

I love DVC.

So give me the inside scoop!! Just how wonderful is DVC? It is so funny...my hubby never wanted to go to Disney at all!! EVER!!. He just never understood the "Magic" Over the years the kids and I have gone many times with other family members. This past Nov/Dec was his first time in. (And the way I got him there was he asked me what I wanted for our anniv. and I told him a week at the WL, just the 2 of us) Well long story short...HE FELL HEAD OVER HEELS IN LOVE!! I couldn't have planned a better place for us to stay than the WL!! All he talks about is Disney and the lodge. So this Nov/Dec we are taking the kids and staying at the villas. Our kids are 22, 20, 19 and 17 and this will be their first time in Disney with their dad!! (I know, sad :sad2: but better late than never!! This very well could be our last family trip with just the 6 of us.) But you ought to hear them now. It is hillarious!! You would think they were all 6 years old including daddy dear. I love hearing them and and their dad planning everything we will do and see. Especially discussing the rides. He has mentioned a couple of times that maybe we should check into DVC. So ya'll keep your fingers crossed for me.

For the amount of money that you will be spending at the WL:scared: you could be putting a substancial down on a resale contract that you can use for years to come.. think about that:idea: . We were going to be spending $2800 on our Sept trip (just DH & I).. Instead, we put it down on a DVC contract.. Now we are going in Sept (and taking our teenagers) and going in Dec for the Christmas decorations ::yes:: Start doing you home work girlfriend.. There are soooooo many contracts up for sale right now at the Time Share store. When DH saw the math, he didn't hesitate:goodvibes He knows that I am not going to get over my Disney addiction EVER ! So it was the best move for us. Besides, I like the 5 star feeling way better then POP Century ;)

Okay, let me try and understand this. We can take the $ we will be spending on this stay, put it on DVC and still go in the same time frame? We would't have to wait? What about tickets and the dining plan?

I would think you could :scratchin being that your dates are still 9 months out.. worst case senerio, you would get wait listed or have to stay at one of the other DVC resorts.. but I think it wouldn't be a problem. Buying thru Disney direct is much faster but we didn't want 150 pts (usually just DH and I) and we didn't want SSR. We had to have VWL so we bought a resale of 100 pts. I think you should speak to a guide and get the information sent to you.. or call the TTS they have great literature they can send explaining everything.

oopps forgot.. Tickets are still purchased by you and DVC members get great discounts on AP passes . DP can also be added to your stay just like at any resort

Thanks for the info. I'm really going to have to do my homework!!

I keepchanging my mind about where to stay on our Sept/Oct. trip and WL has just popped up as my current favorite. Our wallet is definately screaming "VALUE!!!!" but I have been jonesing hard for the Poly. Now that I've looked at WL a little more closely it is looking awfully appealing, too. I have to decide soon so we can go ahead and book. After reading the last couple of posts I was wondering about the DVC thing. I have absolutely no knowledge about how it works or where to find info. Any ideas?

There is a DVC forum on DIS. Just head to the main forums pages and scroll down until you find it. Plenty of discussion on buying into DVC and how to rent points.

Best of luck and here's hoping you stay at WL, and become an official Log Head !!!

I first went on a tour to The Vacation Club back in 1994 (now OKW) I thought it was great but the location didn't do anything for me. We always stayed at the Poly back then and had just found the Wilderness Lodge so as far as location...there wasn't even a close comparison. But I loved the size of the villas.

In 1998 I book the Boardwalk Villas for a large family visit, I did this without knowing that the BWV was a DVC resort. :confused3 This trip I started thinking more and more about DVC.

In 1999 back over at Wilderness Lodge we received a room in the south wing and saw a large construction area right outside our room. Now most guest may have requested a new room or complained, not me...large cranes, backhoes and bulldozers can you imagine what a 4-year fan of Bob the Builder would prefer. This trip was with my 4 year old nephew the two of us would go back to the Lodge and sit out on the balcony for hours watching them build The Villas @ Wilderness Lodge. I told him I thought we needed to purchase part of the new building, he agreed so I did it. The best of locations and the size of the Villas all at Wilderness Lodge.

I love being able to visit anytime I want and knowing my family will continue to enjoy Disney many year too come.

But watch out two years later I pruchased another contract over at the BWV's.

My only regret was not buying in 1994 when the price per point was $57.00. That's why most DVC'er say..."I wish I had purchased earlier."

My family and I will be at VWL (our first trip) in May 07. Just wondering if there are life jackets by both pools? I've read that life jackets can be held onto for the length of your stay but wasn't sure if this was true for all the resorts or in our case VWL? Any info would appreciated. We have 3 kids ages 7,4&2). Thanks in advance.

Amen! DVC can't be beat, particularly when you're paying deluxe prices (and they just keep going up...:scared: )
