The NEW WL FAQ (Part 5) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY! Part 2

Hi! I'm staying with my family of 4 (DD 11/DS 6) at the end of May. We are driving down so will have our own car. The boat service looks pretty quick to the MK but what about boat service everywhere else? We plan to hit all the parks plus both water parks. I checked out the times on www.ourlaughingplace.com and the travel times on the bus were pretty long, if the information is accurate. Is it easier/quicker just to drive or are the buses from WL a better choice?

I'm wondering the same thing. We are also driving, so will have a car. And I'm trying to figure out if we should plan on taking the buses or the car. It may be a wait till we get there and see how it is going kind of decision. I would love to hear all the WL vets opinions on it though.

It's official now! Before today, we were planning on the WL from dec11-18th. now it's booked! I am so excited! it'll be me, DH, DS(7), DD(5) DD(4), and in a connecting room, my mom and dad, well, in order to manke the resservations, I have my son staying in my parents room. that way we have 4 and they ahve 3. We are staying in the woods view. I actually wanted to book standard, but they said there wasn't any available. She said that they only available is woods view. Actually, no courtyard either! i cna't beleive that it is already that booked up for december. crazy!

So, what do we request now as far as room location. Are their any MK or firework views int he woods view sections? And when do we make the requests?

I am so so so excited to be going when the christmas decorations are up.

but now I"m worried with the way the rooms are so unavailable...is it going to be crazy busy a tthe parks?

Let the countdown begin!!!!

Why drive for any reason. You're on vacation. Are you really in that big a hurry? Driving is the least relaxing thing in the world to me, and on vacation, that's the last thing I want to do. The buses are very efficient from WL to anywhere on WDW property. By the time you go to your car, drive to the park of choice, park, and walk from the parking lot, you may be saving 5 minutes. Why not let someone else do the driving for you ? Sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.

We LOVE WL and have never had a problem with any of the transportation.

I just wanted to say that IMHO you can definitely make a meal out of the concierge food offerings (Old Faithful Club). I just returned from a trip with my DM and I had to cancel 3 dining reservations 'cause there was just too much food available. We were paying for it so we chose to relax and eat the food offerings at the OFC instead of running here and there for a dining reservation. It was such a huge convenience that I've changed our reservation in Oct (Woods View) to the CL. And there's nothing better than a cold brew or glass of wine when you get back from being in a park all day!:drinking:

I agree with this as we were on the DDP and had way too much food! :goodvibes

BUT I also had another guest complain to me (while standing in the lounge)that the offerings were nothing like he expected, and he was going to have to go to the desk and see if he could book someplace to eat that night :confused3 He threw a couple peanut butter uncrustables on his plate in digust, and left fuming, so I don't know if he expected a five course spread, or if he was on a special diet and nothing there suited it, but wow :scared1: Unhappy camper there!

Honestly...the little time you are in your room, the view doesn't matter..sure, i love it when I see the main courtyard or woods to the north, but I am actually on my patio about 2 minutes the whole time I am there...

You can always ask if an upgrade is available..i have gotten them everytime I have asked!

How much did they charge you for the upgrade?...If you dont mind me asking..
I can see us using our bal. alot in the PM while my DGSs sleep...
But as long as Im not looking at a parking lot Im fine...
I wouldnt however turn down a free upgrade...:cool1:

By the way...LOVE your Name!:thumbsup2 ;)
Is it hard for you, to find anything with your name on it......Im always finding "Betty"...BUT no "Betsy" to be found.....:confused3 frustrating!

TTFN

For MK, I would take the boat (nice and relaxing) or bus. This way takes you directly to the MK entrance. If you drive, you need to park at the TTC and then take the boat or monorail to MK. There's also a quick boat ride to the Contemporary.

That said, we found the car to be a great time saver when dining at other resorts. Have fun!

We LOVE WL and have never had a problem with any of the transportation.

We were there last July and never needed to drive anywhere. Even tho I thought we might need it to get to some meal reservations, we always had time and used the disney transportation. You just need to pad some travel time in to your schedule.

Has anyone that stayed in a Lobby room found it to be noisy from WCC or any other lobby activities?

We stayed in a lobby room this past Dec. and LOVED it. We were 4094 right above the check in desk. Never had a problem with WCC. Once in a while we would hear a loud holler, but never when we were in bed and only occasionally. We loved being able to walk out of our room and be in the great big lobby right away. There were also rocking chairs right outside of our room we could sit in and watch everything going on in the lobby. We had a small fireplace and couches at the end of our floor right over the main doors coming into the lobby. There was also an outside patio deck that overlooked the drive up area of the hotel that you could sit out on.

We will be going to the WL from Dec. 16-23 for our honeymoon! I can't wait...this will be my 3rd time to go to DW (haven't been in a long while though!) and my first time to stay at a deluxe!!! I'm so excited!!!! :cheer2:

I know my question has probably been answered several times, but I have read many pages and not found the answer yet, so here goes!

My family and I (me, two teens) are staying at the WL for the first time next month, we have courtyard view w/bunk beds reserved. I originally requested non-smoking, north wing, upper floor on our room requests, but have decided we would rather have a room near the lobby. Are there bunk bed/inner courtyard rooms that also overlook the lobby?

TIA for any help.:sunny:

Before the remodel most of the "Bear Face Rooms" (courtyard view off the Lobby) had 2 queen size beds, with a few king size bed rooms. I had never read of anyone staying nor have I ever stayed in a Lobby room courtyard view having bunk beds. I do know that since they remodel they did add additional bunk beds so ya never know.:confused3

Feet1

When I book a Woods View I request: North Wing, 5th floor, near the elevator, overlooking the otter pond. This location would probably give you a view of the Magic Kingdom and Wishes.

MAGICinMYHEART - Thank you for your help. If you don't mind a follow-up question: can you tell me where most of the courtyard view/bunk bed rooms are?

It sounds like I should stick with my original requests! One of the reasons I had considered changing the requests was that I had read that the only smoking rooms were on the north wing, 6th floor. Since I have asthma, I try to avoid smoke at all costs, and moving to another area altogether might give me a better chance of avoiding it. (e.g., in the elevators, hallways, etc.)

We are really looking forward to trying the WL, even though the pool will be closed during our stay. We have made a reservation there 3 times previously, and had to cancel for various reasons - this trip, I decided nothing was gonna stand in our way of finally staying at WL! ;)

While the smoking area at Wilderness Lodge is located on the sixth floor North Wing, the smoke smell isn't noticeable even if you happen to get off the elevator that is next too this area. The hallways that are near the area have no smell at all.

If you request a room in the south wing you may receive a courtyard view overlooking the Villas pool, so be sure if you request South Wing, Inner Courtyard View.

Thanks again for your input, it is very much appreciated! :wave2:

I think I may stick with my original requests, as I had read the north wing area was very convenient. It may be a moot point, anyway, as we won't arrive at the Lodge until around midnight. By that time, the other guests will have already snagged all the best rooms, anyway! ;)
