Just to clear up something about the woodsview rooms for those that don't know.

Some of the recent pictures posted showing the castle and Contemporary Resort are taken using a zoom lens. The WL is not as close as it appears in the picture.

I don't mean to be a downer...but I don't want first timers to think they are getting something that their not if they book a woodsview rooom hoping for MK views.

I always think of the View of the Castle as a pleasant little gift when I walk out on our balcony. The view is no where near as good as when I use to stay over at the Poly, but no where near the cost either.

So please think of the Magic Kingdon views as a extra surprise gift. You can still hear the train whistle early in the morning or late at night. You can see Astor Orbiter spinning and most of Space Mountian, you can see the monorail going in and out of the CR, and the boats zipping around Seven Seas Lagoon and parts of Bay Lake.

Now WISHES fireworks are just as good in fact I enjoy them better from the Lodge as we are higher. Love to watch them from the balcony.

But tardin1964 is right the photo's all are using room lens, I know because Dizneykid's photos from Woods View Room 7056 were taken from my room.

When I stay at the Lodge (not concierge) I love the Courtyard View because I can sit and watch the pool, stream, waterfall and geyser. I love the Courtyard Bear Face Rooms because I also get the Lobby View from my door. (Christmas time the tree is right there) When I stay on the 7th floor they have the inclosed balconys so you can't see much going on without standing. I choose the Woods View when staying Concierge just for WISHES.

Oops, you are right, Sorry I should have noted this on the post.

But, anyway, it was from Beckie's room and the view of the fireworks was simple wonderful. Now, if we only had the soundtrack!!!!

Thank you for sharing info on the Courtyard, I had originally booked a woodsview room, the day free dining came out, I called, but now woodsview available with package, only courtyard, so I shelled out the extra money for the "Free" dining... ( ) and it seems I have "buyers remorse" as most people are able to get a standard or woodsview...

also thank you for reminding us about the power of the zoom lens!! I was one that read posts from this board, and my expectations were way higher than reality, and it shouldnt have been - it was my imagination!! Once I let go of my unrealistic expectations, I settled down and enjoyed our vacation!!

Kimmar...

yep...I just had to go and ruin things on a Sunday morning now didn't I ;) well it's been raining here in NJ so much I just thought I would just spread some of it around :teeth:

Beckie...

I agree with you. If you are lucky enough to get an MK view from a woodsview room you should consider it a bonus. Not all woodsview rooms have views. I just don't want anyone to book a woodsview room thinking they are going to get a view that isn't realistic.

And growing up my family stayed at the Poly 3 times. All 3 times we requested MK view and we stayed in the Tonga Longhouse (I think it's called Hawaii Longhouse now). What an awesome view those rooms had.

So after reading the posts from the last few days, I am now a little confused. Just how many courtyard views are there? :confused3 And are any of them bad? I had booked courtyard because that was all that was available at the time, and when I had to change our ressies to a different date, I just left it. Since we are under the the thirty day mark, should I call back and get a liitle more specific? I should say here that we aren't picky - I'd be thrilled just to get a renovated room. Other than that, I can't imagine anything could truly ruin our stay. :jumping1:

I have a few hours left to decide which resort I want to stay at (free dining! ). I'm now thinking Wilderness. It just looks so beautiful. I noticed when I looked online for a quote only courtyard was left as a choice. Is there any building I should request? I have health issues so I'd like to have the shortest walk to the buses/boats. Also are there any stairs that you have to walk? I have a hard time with stairs and want to avoid them all together. Oh also wondered are the smoking rooms only in the one building 6th floor? I absolutely can't be anywhere near smoke. One last thing. I'm trying to justify the extra money for this resort, is the transportation quicker than Coronado Springs? These are the two resorts I'm trying to decide on and I'm trying to justify the extra money for Wilderness. Is there still a character meal there? Thanks

if you go the first few pages of this thread it goes thru all the transportation options( boat and bus)
there is no character meal at the WL
there is WCC and Artist point ( which is 2 table service credits)

There are two "Courtyard" views..one is of the main courtyard of the WL itself..it overlooks the pool/spring ..the other is of the Villa's and it's pool. This "used" to be a woods view or parking lot view before the Villas were there. If you want to make sure that you get the WL Courtyard..make sure you request "inner courtyard" :) You can call at any time and make requests..as I think they don't assign rooms until the earliest, a few days before :)

If you want the shortest walk, I would request a Courtyard view near the main lobby, this would put you closest to the elevators and not down one of the wings. There is just one big building at the WL.. with a north and south wing, but everything is under one roof. The Villa's are seperate, but those are for DVC members. I'm not sure about if there is a specific "smoking" floor..but just request a non-smoking room. I've never had a problem with the transporation at the WL, but I know some have. It's much quicker to MK from the WL than it would be from CS. Plus, since I know walking is a problem for you, there would be much less walking at the WL than at CS...as CS is much more spread out and as I said before, WL is everything under one roof :)

One thing I did want to mention..I'm not sure it's all floors..but I know that many floors, if you go to the North wing..there are windows which face the MK, and you can stand there and watch Wishes at night :) That would help any of you that don't get a woodsview/north wing room, and really looked forward to seeing the fireworks from the Lodge (I know.. I know..not the same as from your room..but you can see them just the same :goodvibes ) For anyone that has recently been, how did you like the selections in Roaring Forks now? Have you tried the new soft serve ice cream machine? What flavors were they dispensing? Anything new in the Mercantile that caught your attention? Thanks! :goodvibes

Hello all,

So I've been following the recent posts regarding views, room requests, etc. I have not stayed a WL before, so it's all new to me. We have booked a courtyard view room for 9/25-10/2, and I wanted to reserve a quieter room (we'll have 2 little ones with us) with a nice view. Anyway, I called the reservation folks today (sorry, don't know the abbrev. for this) and got what I think was 2 weird responses....

First call, I spoke with "Frazier" (ever feel like they are made up names?!?). When asking Frazier (very very politely, and prefacing my request with "I realize that this is just that, a room REQUEST and that there is no guarantee I'll get it) for an inner courtyard room on a higher up floor, he replied..."you booked a courtyard view, so that's what you'll get. A view of the courtyard". It was pretty snippy I should add. I was a bit thrown off by this response so I just said "uh, ok, thanks for your help". Then Frazier's tone took a 180 turn and he said (all peppy) "thanks for calling Disney! Have a nice day! :sunny: "

So I, of course, called right back (I really hope they don't note all of these calls). Got a woman, and gave her the very same preface I gave Frazier(genuinely of course) and her response was...."I don't know that there is an inner courtyard. But I'll try to put this in your reservation." ???

Anyway, it was just weird. Who knows what we'll end up with. I don't feel like I'm being too picky - not asking for a certain room number, refurb (or not), certain wing, etc. (Not that there's anything wrong with that :thumbsup2 ) I'm just asking to be higher up, away from the noise of the pool, and a courtyard view of the lagoon/geyser, etc. Again, never been to WL so I don't know the exact setup but am going off of a map I saw on here (that does indeed show an "inner courtyard". Anyway (sorry, rambling)....
suggestions?? I should probably just leave well enough alone and just see what we get, right?

I swear my hang up rate with CRO is about 50% right now. On the other hand, the DVC ressie people are superb!
