Magic, I've good and bad news. First with the bad news....I need to be taken off the Who's going to the lodge in '07 where you thoughtfully put me in for 12/08. The good news is that we have chosen to move up our trip! Woo Hoo. Since we are going in late September to attend Mickey's not so scary Halloween party we've decided to give the Wilderness cabins a try. We are avid campers. So put a strike through my name for 12/08 Thanks! :goodvibes

I am just starting to convice a friend of mine to some along to WDW and think that WL would be just the right place for her (being a huge AKL-fan myself, but thinking WL is a lovely place, too).

We are thinking about late January/early February to get away from grey and cold winter weather. So one thing that would be important for us would be a sunny balcony. As I do not really see the point in paying for a courtyard view, are there any other views where you can have a sunny balcony? The north wing woods view rooms seem to be in the shadow for the whole day? Or is that wrong? Any advice on sunny balconies would be greatly welcomed!! Thanks!!! :goodvibes

And thanks for the advice for Mac users. I am using Camino, but will get Firefox and try it again!!

Herzliche Wilkommen! Having lived in Germany I know what you mean about "grey and cold winter weather." The Woods view rooms face north, so they should be in shade all day. There are Standard view rooms that overlook rooftops as mentioned yesterday that face south and give you more sun. Otherwise I think you're stuck with courtyard - either North wing or the south wing - south-facing.

Anna
You'll still be near the Lodge, and MNSSHP is my favorite time to visit WDW. They are also starting the new Segway tours over @ Ft. Wilderness so that would be fun. I'm sure you'll make it back to the Lodge soon.

Hi all you WL experts! :goodvibes
Our first stay at the lodge is coming up at the end of September (29-Oct3) and we are SO excited! DH and I have always wanted to stay there. Anyway, I know that some of the rooms were being refurbished a while back. Is that still going on or is the refurbishment completed now?

I wish I could make the time fly by... it's so hard to wait!!! :hourglass

Hi - We go to the lodge every year and in reply to your question, all of the rooms have been refurbished, I believe last year. We love it at the lodge and will be there for two weeks, CL, August and September.

Have a great time.

Hi! Thanks a lot for the info! I was afraid that this would be the case... Well, I think I might even enjoy a view of a roof top if I get to sit in the sun!! :cool2:

Hi - I am planning my first trip to the WL - has anyone stayed in both the lodge and the studio villa? If so, what is the difference in size? Which would you recommend - I am traveling with my 3 youngest (10, 8 and 7).

Since the lodge rooms have been renovated, are they a nicer place to stay?

Also, in the photos I have seen of the villas, the carpet and the bedding looks to clash terribly and doesn't at all seem to go - is it like this in person?

Any photos, thoughts, recommendations much appreciated. Thank you.:yay:

All done! Have a magical visit!

WE are going!! I have tried to find rooms at WL forever! Also never thought I could afford it! But hubby and I are going for our anniversary. I have 2 ressies right now (one in my name, one in hubbys). One is 8/29-9/2 and the other 9/6-9/10. I was worried about my mom getting the kids to school on time (4 of them) if we went 9/6 (school starts 9/4). I have a standard room booked for each. If I was to request a room, which one has a good shot of seeing MK from it? This is our anniversary so I want it to be special. But I dont have the cash to upgrade to a nice view. I can NOT wait!

well if you go 8/29...see you there:) we are there 8/31 to 9/4 celebrating , albeit late, DH cannot get away from work til then, with DD1 :)

Yep! I just called and switched from 9/6-9/10 to 8/29-9/2! This way my mom doesnt have to mess with getting them on the school bus. She is NOT a morning person!

HI - I have been going crazy trying to decide between a studio at the villas and a room in the lodge.

I looks like thre is only about a 15sf. difference in size. Does anyone know if it is really worth it?

Given the choice would you stay at the lodge or in a studio at the villas?

Would really like to hear what those experinced people think. Thank you sooooo much:)

Well, I've never actually stayed at either yet, but I would choose the Lodge...to me a big part of the ambience is the beautiful lobby. I think that the biggest difference is the cooking facilities in the studio villa....it could save you some $$$, but when I'm in Disney, I don't want to cook and do dishes....dining around the world is a big part of the fun for me.

Hands down, I'd choose the villas! We love eating breakfast and snacks/late lunch in the room which saves us quite a bit of money. The lobby of the villas is beautiful and it's so relaxing. Off of the main lobby, there's some tables to play checkers and other games. There's also big chairs to relax by the fireplace. Also, there's pics of Walt Disney with his trains around the lobby as well. We love coming "home" after a long day at the park and be welcomed by this peaceful and quiet place to relax. We love that feeling of being off from the main building and in our own little world.

I'd choose the studio if I didn't need the second bed. Since there's a sofa-bed where the second queen bed would be in a regular room, the room feels much bigger.
