Good... We had to put some trips on hold due to the emergency oen heart surgery,so It's nice to be planning again.. We can't wait to get back to the lodge

How is the transportation at WL. How much time should be allotted to get to the parks and how do you get there i.e. bus etc. Thanks

Hello fellow WLers
Does anyone know if the fridge will fit a carton of milk?...and if so ..How much room will be left for like..some juice boxes and a bottle of wine?...

Also
How long does it take to walk over to the FW...from the lodge?..Can you rent the bikes and take them to FW?...I thought my DGSs would Love to ride over and maybe do the petting zoo thing..and then ride back.....Just a thought:confused3

Im loving this thread by the way...Thanks for all the info!:thumbsup2

Good Morning

I glad I found this thread. We have been staying at the VWL since 2002. This is definetly our home away from home. We now have enough points to make 2 trips a year. Looking for being there in May and December this year.

My question is, when we started staying a the VWL we were greeted at the entrance (which I thought was) Humphrey and cub near the bear crossing sign.
Since the hurricane (not sure which one I think 2003 or 2004) the bears are now gone.'
We have asked the cast members there and no one knows. Do any WL Vets have the answer????

Did you get the info you were looking for?
I stayed at the WL in Dec. 2006 and in a Courtyard View room that turned out to be handicapped accessible. It wasn't a bunk bed room and had a king-size bed. The room faced the VWL and was on the first floor near the elevators with a patio instead of a balcony. The shower was a large walk-in, with a pull-down seat. It was my first time in a deluxe so I assume everything else was the same as other rooms.
I hope this is of some help?

We had a half gallon of milk on the door as well as some bottles of water and then canned sodas on the shelves. You should have plenty of room!

You should have no problem , we filled it up with just about everything. :thumbsup2

We are staying at VWL for the first time and are renting points from a DVC owner. Our room is a studio villa. There is my DH, DS (age 5), myself, and we are also bringing along our babysitter who is 14. I am a little concerned that the babysitter will not appreciate sleeping on the sofa bed with DS and wondered if it would be possible to get a rollaway? Does anyone have any information on this?

I'm glad to hear that! The Lodge is very soothing, and I glad to read you're planning again. Take care........:grouphug:

zipuzee,sewer,

Thank you so much for the quick answers....;)
It sounds like I wont have anything to worry about....
I want to do breakfast in the room before we head to the parks....My DGSs normally eat cereal...So I figured Id bring a big box and then have some juice boxes for them for when we are in the parks....The cost of drinks can be alot ...if its hot out...:thumbsup2
and Of course a nice glass of wine with DH in the evening on the balcony, after the little guys go to bed....will make for a nice ending ...of a busy day... :teeth:

I'm not sure about the two bears, I only remember the two moose located out by the entrance. :confused3

Humphrey is located inside the Lobby, he is the base of the totem pole outside the Mercantile. All the other bears at the Lodge are just cousins. I found the link below earlier and thought everyone might enjoy seeing Humphrey in action.

Ok, vets...this one is for you! :goodvibes

I've got two options to choose between right now -

Option (1) - WL - standard room, AAA rate, 9/29-10/7, chance of free dining (big advantage for our family if it happens), MNSSHP, Food & Wine Fest.

OR

Option (2) - WL - standard room, no discount ( ) 12/16-21 (with hopes of extending for a few more days), MVMCP, Osborne Lights, christmas season.

:confused3 Which would you do? We are not a park family, we usually spend 2-3 days at the parks and the rest of the time we spend dining around the world and at our resort. We are me, DD12, DD8 and DS3.

All help greatly appreciated!

Warriorboy

I have found the transportation at the Wilderness Lodge and Villas to as good, if not better than other WDW resorts.

I always allow 15-20 minutes to wait on the arrival of either the bus or boat. Then add another 25 minutes maximum travel time. Most times are less, but the above formula will make sure you arrive at any of the parks at a designated time such as opening or ADR time.

I use time schedule for every resort at WDW.

The bus service from any resort at WDW to DTD is always an adventure and no rules seem to apply.

Remember you are on VACATION relax enjoy the journey, some of my favorite memory's are from unusual bus rides.

Hmm...very tough although the thought of warmer temps and saving money with your Sept dates tip the scales in favor of those from my perspective.

The WL is very beautiful at the holiday time but the Dec weather could be iffy and thus possibly be too cold for swimming. You mentioned liking to spend time at the resort so if you are a swimming family, it would be a bummer not to be able to use the pool due to weather when you had your resort time.

My DD (age 7 at the time) and I went Dec 9-13 one year and had some cool days that prevented us from using the pool. She was bummed not to get decent pool time but understood that weather was a factor.

Either dates you'll have a great time!

Of the two options and your touring style, I think you would enjoy...Sept/Oct the most. Did you want to know why?
As you enjoy time at the resorts you would have more activities available earlier in the year before cooler weather.

You enjoy trying different restaurants, so what better time to visit then during the Food and Wine Festival.

Of the two parties I think that MNSSHP is just more fun to attend, all the candy, costumes and interaction with the cast members. Yes ::yes:: even the parade is better not more beautiful just more fun.

The last reason would be traveling during the holidays is just more stressful, the closer to Christmas the greater the crowds.

With all the reasons I just gave you...I'll be visiting during the Food & Wine, MNSSHP and the holidays for MVMCP, Osborne Lights, Christmas Season.

Another advantage of living in Florida.

Not being able to swim would be a HUGE issue for my family and to be frank, the $$$ is a very big concern. I'm rethinking my b-day trip for the better vacation experience. Thanks for the feedback!

More fun is the name of the game...especially with the ages of our group. And free food just can't be beat. I'm rethinking, rethinking, dialing....:upsidedow
