How long does it take to walk over to the FW...from the lodge?..Can you rent the bikes and take them to FW?...I thought my DGSs would Love to ride over and maybe do the petting zoo thing..and then ride back.....Just a thought:confused3

Im loving this thread by the way...Thanks for all the info!:thumbsup2

I don't think your second question was answered. I read the walk is about 20 mins., it's about a mile. Here's the link that I found the info on http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1384308
I also would love to take the kids to the petting zoo too. We will be taking a break from the parks mid week. A stay at the resort day, I think after some pool time we could walk over to the petiing zoo.

Howdy!

Where do I send thank you gifts for the IPO team? Also, what do people usually send? Candy? just a card and a note for the Mgr?

Our trip is 20 days away, and they have been so helpful; I really want to say "Thank You!" to them.

Thanks!

We leave in 18 days for Disney! This is my first stay on Disney property and I'm so excited. We'll be at the Wilderness Lodge from March 30th-April 5th. Any pool updates?? Like when it will be reopening??

Sorry to have to post this but the Petting Zoo located @ Ft. Wilderness Campground has been closed. Two years ago there was an E.coli outbreak here in Florida they traced the exposure back to several petting zoos at two state fairs. The petting zoo was closed and the animals were moved to the Animal Kingdom..

The pony rides have been moved to the Tri-Circle D Ranch

Tri-Circle D Ranch
Open daily in the settlement area is the Tri-Circle D Ranch. This includes a barn tour area and pony rides. While the barn tour area are free, the pony rides are around $4. This used to be the location of the petting zoo, but the animals were removed in the summer of 2005.

MAGICinMYHEART,
Thanks so much for that petting zoo info...
I'm glad I did'nt tell my DGSs about it yet and have them disappointed when we got there....Its not a big deal really. We live in the country and they have alot of their own animals anyway...It was just a place to ride the bikes to and back from....:confused3 ..
They DONT have ponys, so that might be a better option :thumbsup2

Really? Cool! We leave on the 7th, but I'm sure we'll see you in the Lounge. We will be with 2 giggly teen girls. ;p

Awesome! Thanks Jeanne. :)

Finally. I've been asking questions on the wrong threads apparently. I finally found our home. I can feel the LOVE :hippie: .

Our DS is 12. Our other DS is 6. We have requested special accomodations for medical reasons. I was wondering if the bunk beds are large enough to accomodate a very tall 12-year-old. I have to be able to access my DS (6) so the bunk beds would be great. I could assist my DS without waking the older. Are the beds smaller than normal twins?

Thanks.

I'm 6'2 and cannot fit on the bunkbeds.........I'd say 5'10" may be a limit but just a guess. My daughter wanted me to lie down with her one night and it wasn't possible!!!

Yes ::yes:: anyone 5' 10" or under will be fine I'm 5' 8" and I had no trouble on the bunk bed. they are normal twin size mattress.

Does anyone have an answer to my question from several pages back?:

I'm sure this has been asked and answered many times over, but I've heard that the deluxe rooms/junior suites at WL are now considered concierge rooms. Is this true? I recently booked a deluxe room for next January, and this was not mentioned to me by the CM. It's my understanding that this is a recent change, so maybe she was unaware of it. Thanks for any information!

Does anyone have an answer to my question from several pages back?:

Yes, junior suites are now considered part of concierge. You will have all the benefits of concierge. You will have access to the Old Faithful Lounge. Note: the rooms are not on the 7th floor.

When we were there in February, I did notice an increase in guests up in the Lounge. I asked a cast member and they said that since they added the junior suites, they have been very busy!!

Thanks. My DS (12) is only about 5"4. He'll be fine. Does the ferry stop running from FW after a certain hour? We wanted to see the movie a FW or sing around the campfire. We wanted to try the walk from WL and have dinner before the campfire or movie but wanted to make sure we can get back without waiting for a bus.

The Green Flag Boat stops running about an hour after the Magic Kingdom closes for the night. The Blue Flag Boats stop running at 10:00pm. The buses from the settlement to Wilderness Lodge run every few minutes and run very late.

What time is the nightly campfire? Are there evening events at WL for the children? Sorry for asking so many questions but this will be our first time and I've been holding on to these questions for some time now.

Thanks to everyone who is responsing so quickly.

Thank you very much for telling us about the petting zoo. We have a very big zoo where we live with a nice petting zoo as well so it's not a big deal. The kids would be very happy with the pony ride. :)

Thanks again
Vicki
