The New (Part 4) WL FAQ Thread...Just the Facts M'am!

Oh I remember the ducks in the pool! We asked the lifeguard about the chemicals in the water and were told they will not hurt the ducks, but still keep the pool clean. Early morning by the pool is my favorite time at WL. Well, one of my favorite times ;)

Sarah-if you have a car, it would be very easy to stop at a grocery store to stock up on water on the way to WL. I was always the one that wanted to buy and pack everything but DH has worked hard at getting me out of that habit!! Many towncar companies offer 30 minute grocery stops.

Beckie-thanks for the character info. If it happened on this trip I would be the one to get the biggest thrill out of seeing them!! DSs are 14 and 15 and more interested in other things now. :(

DS will turn 16 while at WL. I think breakfast at WCC may be in order for that morning!! He loves to edge on the CMs there. I bet they could give him a really hard time turning 16!!

I'll never forget when he was about 12. He was giving the CM a hard time (all in good fun :teeth: ) and the CM made DS get in the middle of the room and lead the Hokey Pokey as a punishment!! It was so fun and as I said, all done in good fun and good taste!!!

I now have two nieces in love with their CM Billy the Kid they even ate waffles with ketchup on them to please him...(gross)

I read somewhere that there was a wine shop at WL. If so, do any WL experts know if they specialize in wines from the Northwest, or are they from all over? I think the non-Disney DH would like a present from WDW, but not in the form of Mickey ears.

Artist Point offers one of the most extensive collections of both Washington and Oregon Wines in Florida!

Ah yes, Cindy, Artist Point is clearly what I was thinking of. Unfortunately, I cannot fit any more PS into my schedule without eating the entire time we're there! I will make my parents and sister go with me in January, then. (I figured if Fred had never seen a wine shop it probably didn't exist...)

Thank you!

Sarah

...have a safe flight tonite, and have a great time in Puerto Rico M-M-M-M-M-WAH!

OK, I did look for this information, I promise, but couldn't find it.

DS desperately wants to rent a surrey bike. Does anyone know where the prices for such things are listed?

AC-Enjoy your trip! I'm hoping for nice weather for you.

I'm not a WLVet, but "G'mo'nin'" to you, too! I love that G'mo'nin'! That's exactly what I say to DH and my Baby Pooh (chihuahua), minus the G'.

AC-- Have a great time!

for Cindy, Beckie or any of the WL vets who do a great job answering questions about the "Lodge."

I saw on one of the threads that many of the resort rooms stay fairly warm during the evening hours. It has something to do with the way the air conditioning system is set up (to detect motion in the rooms). I was wondering if WL stays very warm during the evening, too? Being Michigan residents, we tend to like things a little cooler, especially during the evening while asleep. Does anyone know how warm/cool the temps are in the evening during December? Do the overhead fans help? Thanks for any info you can give us!!!!

Sarah,
Surrey Bikes at Wilderness Lodge:
2 seater: $16.90 per 30 min.
4 seater: $20.65 per 30 min
Bicycle: $7.51 per 60 minutes
$20.65 per day

SpeechGuy,
I have never had any problem with the air conditioning system at The Wilderness Lodge to my knowledge the Lodge doesn't have that type system that uses the detectors that senses movement in the room. I just set the thermostat and let it go. :p

AspiringCindy,
Have a great trip. We'll keep an eye out on Kimmar.

Mick/SpeechGuy,
Sorry I missed the second question, In December our average High is 73: Low is 51: AVG Rain 2.2":
It can also go below freezing then make it back up to mid-70's in the same day.

This is just an option, while staying at The Wilderness Lodge we enjoy renting the Bicycles and riding over to Ft. Wilderness and visiting the petting zoo and stables...but when we rent the Surrey Bikes we love to rent them over at the BoardWalk

.......I knew I would get a quick response. When I read how hot some of the resort rooms got at night I became a little concerned. My wife thinks I am crazy but I have been known to kick on the air conditioner in the middle of a Michigan winter. Guess I'm a little weird, eh? Thanks again!

Aspiring Cindy....Have a great, safe trip!

Mick :wave2:

Thank you, Beckie! Looks like the Boardwalk would be a lot of fun with those bikes.

I just changed my plane tickets yesterday so that we're flying out the night before and staying at the airport Hyatt over night. This will get us the most out of our very first day! I just couldn't take waiting until check-in day to fly down...

I think we'll use this day to do DTD and stuff like hang out by the pool, rent bikes, etc.

That also meant I had to fix my count-down, of course.

KarenB-During my past two stays at WL (10/01 and 8/03) I havent seen any characters roaming around the lodge.
I do remember when we stayed there in 10/96, Artist Point had a Pocohantus character breakfast. One afternoon we were at the pool the characters put on a performance by the pool.
John Smith was climbing the rocks by pool shouting out for Meeko. Meeko was hiding on one of the balconies.
Gov. Radcliffe was by the lobby shouting out for Pocohantus, and she was hiding in the rocks. It was a pretty neat "show"
I wish they still did that!

....:scratchin

AspiringCindy,
Have a great trip. We'll keep an eye out on Kimmar.

Keep an eye on ME?????

I just saw this posted on another thread, does anyone know anything about it?

""I also heard that WL has there concierge rooms "blocked" from reservations for some reason... maybe upgrading the lounge? Any news on this? Thoughts or opinions? I got this from a Disney travel agent."

I wonder if this is true ? We have a trip booked in SEPT...

... we'll have to see?

After visiting with each other Fred called upstairs and arranges for us to take a tour of the 7th Floor Concierge. Marqueta has to rejoin her family and says good-by for now. One of the Concierge CM’s Daisy comes down to the lobby and escorts us to the 7th floor. We where met by the Guest Service Manager over Concierge Mark Newman, he was very nice and we received a warm welcome. After introducing us to the other CM’s on duty Mark gave us a tour of the area and went into detail of all the upcoming changes to the 7th floor at The Wilderness Lodge.

Mark has already started plans for two new lounges to be added to existing dead space areas on the floor. The designers have come up with some beautiful ideas, Mark also has several plans to update the Lodges offering by possible adding all the Jr. Suites access to concierge as well as all or parts of the sixth floor for guest who prefer the open balconies. We where shown one on the Deluxe Honeymoon Suites it was much larger then standard room and it has a beautiful bath area.

Looks like maybe Mark got the OK to start....
