The New (Part 4) WL FAQ Thread...Just the Facts M'am!

Someone posted this on the boards last year:

"At one point, we did a mid-afternoon tour of the Lodge. We were brought up on the roof as part of that tour. It was informative and fun."

I have 2 questions about this post:

-Are there still mid-afternoon tours? I thought they were all at 9 am. Can you arrange a special tour at other times?

-Do the regular 9 am tours go to the roof? If we strike out trying to be a Flag Family, I'd still love to get up there!

Thanks in advance.

I am not sure if the tours still go up on the roof, but according to my confirmation letter I received a couple of days ago, the "daily lodge tours are at 9:30 and 3:15. Meet in the lobby."

Hope that helps a little. I am sure someone can tell you whether they still go on the roof. Sounds fun!

I was thinking about asking when we check in to upgrade to concierge ? we will be coming from the BCV on 11-5 going to the MK and coming back to the WL that evening .. do you think it would be worth the extra $$$$ if we do this then we can have some of the food offerings for the evening and the morning correct ?

bigsis1970/Michelle,
If there is space available at Concierge and they offer an upgrade for $40.00 it would be worth the money if any more then that I wouldn't spend the money...(even though I love Concierge at Wilderness Lodge) If more you could call Miss Jenny's In Room Dining
Choose from a selection of memu offerings for breakfast, and dinner.Breakfast is served from 7:00a.m. til 11:00a.m. and dinner is served from 5:00p.m. til 10:00p.m. Pizza, sandwiches and snacks served from 4:00p.m. til midnight.
Menu With room service you will have exactly what you want for less money. But if offered at a great rate Concierge is wonderful. You just wont be at the Lodge enough to enjoy it very much.

I think Betsy idea is wounderful (telling your CM at WCC) to acknowledge all his hard work...I also know he loves VVVIDEO Games. :earseek: How about a special trip over to Quest. I'm sure he would love that.

We will either have to make a grocery stop to purchase diapers and pull ups for DD and DS or are thinking about having a small ordered delivered from Netgrocer. A poster on another board mentioned that CSR charged $30 to accept a package for delivery.
Also, has anyone ever had a package of supplies delivered to them at the Lodge? Did you use Netgrocer or another service? What were your experiences with the vendor and the CM's at the Lodge?

Julybride
I believe that the grocery stop would be the best way to go, I have read of other guest using Netgrocer with no problems, also I have never heard of the a charge to receive a package before, but things do change all the time...( I would call the front desk to make sure) I know you will need to have your reservation # and Dates you'll be staying at the Lodge on your package.

Too bad Wilderness Lodge doesn't have tennis courts :( They don't right? Can we use Fort Wilderness (if they have them?)?

Pkdcoastrs,
While staying at Wilderness Lodge many guest enjoy
Ft. Wilderness Resort and Campground
following are fun activities, located just a quick boat ride from the Wilderness Lodge.

Tennis:
Hit the hard courts for a set or two. (Bring your own equipment - rentals are not available.) The tennis courts are located in the Meadow's Recreation Area

Anybody who has done the boat rentals at WL on the Family plan....are there enough boats or does there always seem to be a shortage??? Trying to decide if we should spend the money...and if it is difficult to get boats I think I'll pass...

Zurgswife
I know that the Wilderness Lodge has the new fleet of Sea Raycers and the new rules about the drivers being/or having someone in the boat that is sixteen with drivers license applies I have never had any trouble getting the boats.

Ronald Duck,
Just back and the only time they had listed for the tour was 9:00am: But if hhender102 just recieved this information please check with the front desk Summer time may require two tours.
Are tours of Disney's Wilderness Lodge available?
A unique tour, called the "Wonders of the Lodge," is offered to guest on various days beginning at 9:00a.m. This guided tour provides an informative look at the history of Disney's Wilderness Lodge, including its distinctive construction, theming and artwork. Please call the Front Desk for the schedule of the tour days and availability. (Guest should meet in the Lobby of Wilderness Lodge.)
This tour doesn't visit the roof. The only visits made to the roof would be the Flag Family But you can always ask!!

Hope this helps....
Beckie

Happy B-Day to you!

EDIT: Beckie beat me to the punchline on this one. Sorry! I'm too slow I guess. :) :teeth:

Wilderness Lodge does not have tennis courts and to be honest, I'm not sure if Fort Wilderness does so someone else might have to answer that one.

Thanks again, Beckie and Betsy! I think I will mention it to our server at WCC but keep it on the QT (that way, if they don't do anything, he won't be disappointed). Quest sounds like a good idea, too, particularly since our first day is a no park day.

I aplogize if this has been asked on this thread before. I just can't seem to find the time to read all the pages.

We will be checking out of WL on Wednesday, July 14. Our towncar won't be picking us up until 3pm or so because of a fairly late flight.

Does WL allow late check out?? We plan on just hanging out at the pool, and it would be great if we could put off the check out time a few hours.

Thanks,
Karen

KarenB First of all , congratulations on being able to get a late flight! We also had a late flight last time and it was so relaxing. Not so lucky for the next trip though-our flight leaves at 8 in the AM! Anyway...................we did ask for a late checkout at WL, and at that time we were told the latest checkout was 1:00 pm, which was great because we had a car, and drove over to DTD for some last minute shopping, etc. Be sure to ask when you are checking in, because apparently there are only so many late checkouts allowed in any area. Maybe you could schedule a lunch at WCC to enjoy the last hours at the lodge before you get picked up? Just a thought. Have a great trip!:Pinkbounc

Hey, what are we doing on the second page???? Okay, this is really more than a bump...it's a really silly question, BUT I figured you all would know faster and easier than calling CRO.

I am currently booked (not until Feb...ugh!) for a woods view room, smoking guaranteed. I did not request a view of MK because I ASSUMED (uh-oh) that all smoking rooms w/a woods view are in the North Wing, 6th floor (I am really hoping that doesn't change before we get there).

Anyhoo, do you think I should call back and request a view of MK or am I pretty safe? I don't want to be a pest, and I fear that everytime I call something on the reservation may become messed up (too many cooks in the pot).

Also, I know that not all of the rooms on 6 have a view of MK and some may have a partial view, etc.

OR should I just wait until we get there and make the request? We plan on arriving before normal check in time (about 11:30).

Thanks ~ The Obsessed One aka Heather

You should be able to get a view of MK from that part of WL. It doesn't hurt to put in a request on your reservation for a room that absolutely has a view or best view of MK. Then when you check in, mention it again just to be sure.

I've never had a problem with the room assignments really. Well there was ONE room that overlooked the service area and we heard too much noise from below but other people have said that they didn't hear a thing.

Just goes to show that one person's garbage is another person's gold. :) (Was that a bad example or what????)

You are so quick!! :p I have decided...I will call and add the request on...just to be safe. I wanted to call and see if the 2005 room only rates are out yet for AAA anyway. :smooth: That's a sneaky way to add it, huh?

Well, I did call and add a request for MK view to my reservation. The CM was unaware that there were views (even obstructed ones) of MK from WL. She seemed very surprised, but I told her I knew there was cuz I had seen your pics, etc.

Also, if anyone is interested, no AAA room-only rates yet for 2005.

Thanks again, everyone, for the help! :sunny:

I shared this in a separate thread but thought it might be helpful to also post it on the "big Kahuna" WL thread:p

MK-facing Standard Room #s:

Moving from the front of the Lodge towards the back, The North (MK)-facing Standard Rooms are 6/5/4089 thru 6/5/4081 (these rooms have balconies that face the MK AND they open up on the Lobby) and also 6/5/4060 thru 030 (even numbers only...these are on the first North Wing, have MK-facing balconies, and open onto a regular hotel hallway).

In terms of getting a room with a view of the Contemporary, MK, and fireworks, obviously the higher the better, but be aware that 6th floor balconies are a bit less spacious and more "closed-in". Some specific room numbers that posters have said have good MK views are 6060 (right at the start of the North Wing), 5084, and 4085 (both opening onto the Lobby).

Thanks, Ronald Duck. Great info! I have seen so much information here that I forget where I have seen it...at times I make notes for myself and stick it in my folder, but that has become an absolute mess! :sunny:

I posted this question in a different thread but was advised to come here :D

Are the boats:boat: to MK in the morning (before park opening) crowded or hard to get on because of them stopping at FW first?

I'm trying to read this whole thread, but I'm running out of time:wizard:

Ronald Duck thanks for the great info...I'll be sure to have it handy when I check in a few days...

Thanks, Ronald Duck! I wrote that unfo down!

Wish I could help you with your question, weluvpluto. . .:(

:wave2:

Glad to share what I've learned from a month or so of gleeful searching on this wonderful thread:)

Zurgswife- Have fun on your upcoming trip...and if you happen to find rooms in the 6/5/4060s or 6/5/4070s, please make note of where they are:confused:
