You are going to be visiting during one of the busiest time of year...but you should defiantly make use of the EMH you will be able to do so much in just that one hour...then if the Park you are at becomes to crowded leave and go to another park that didn't open early that day...remember they have been known to close the Parks once they reach capacity during this time frame so if you're going to the parks go early, stay positive, and enjoy every minute.

Have fun.

It does take twice as long to arrive at the Magic Kingdom in the afternoon, so I believe everyone should be awear of this. Plus there is always the Inner-bus route that will take you to the TTC and the Monorail but not sure if that would be much faster.

I am soooo excited :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: I just made our reservation for WL for Feb. 12-19. I cannot wait!! I want to thank you all for your wonderful posts and all of the valuable info you have all given. I have spent hours and hours reading the posts (they are quite addicting!). I was unsure of where to stay until I began reading this section, so thank you all very much!

Does anyone know offhand if the only smoking rooms are in the North Wing B? We requested smoking and woods view. We are hoping that's where we'll be. I was "guaranteed" (Her words) the woods view, connecting rooms, and smoking. I also requested bunk beds, if available in a connecting room. Just a request, no guarantee. I didn't even think to request the North Wing b/c I thought I read somewhere that it was the only smoking location, but there are so many posts, I am not sure where I read it. Does anyone know? I would really hate to call back to add another request if I don't have to. I don't want to be a pest.

Thanks again for everything. The countdown now begins...:hyper:

Has anyone gone in the earlier part of Feb.? I am just curious about other people's experience with the weather. Unfortunately, there was no "guarantee" about that! ;)

No matter what, I am sure the weather will be better than it will be back home in WI. Unless something freaky happens...no don't think that...only happy thoughts :p

We stayed this past Feb. 27-March5 and the weather was PERFECT! It's probably too much to hope for the same, but I don't want it to be "freezing."

Thanks, all...if you can't tell, I'm a little excited...Sorry for rambling

Yes smoking rooms are woodsview on the 5th and 6th floors of the north wing. Not sure how many connecting and bunk bed rooms are within that area so I can't help you there. My parents were on the 6th floor this past May trip and had smoking with a view of wishes and the castle every night.

Hope this helps.

We have done quite a few times of year. My favorites have been mid to late September and mid to late January. Weather is perfect and park attendance tends to be low compared to the rest of the year. These are off peak times and rates are usually cheaper as well.

Take care and ask away!

Hi, Yes ::yes:: all the smoking optioanal rooms are located on the Sixth Floor North Wing.

I went to the 6th floor last week and the smoking rooms start right by the elevator that comes up near Roaring Fork North side of the Lodge room #'s are Woods View: 6034,6032,6030,6028,6026,6024,6020,6022,6020,6018,6016,6014,6012,6010,6008,6006, & 6004 Courtyard View: 6031,6029,6027,6015,6023,6021,6019,6017,6015,6013,6011,6009,6007, & 6005 there are no Jr. Suits on the sixth floor. The higher # rooms are closest to the eleavator.
When we rode the elevator up from the first floor at Roaring Fork you could smell just a little of the smoke when you got off the elevator...after you walked around the corner back to the main building and lobby you couldn't smell it at all...

Your dates are around the same time as Speedweek at Daytona...cool...Also keep that in mind if you are driving. Over 200,000 NASCAR Fans can make the drive fun also the airports busy. So I will say yes you will have weather. The weather can be from chilly in the morning to freezing the weather could be rainy or sunny with highs in the 70's. We have been though all the mentioned all in the same day. Avg Lows 50, Avg High 73 avg. Rain 3.1"

Hope this helps.:wave:::yes::

Thanks, Majestic and Magicinmyheart. But now I am kind of afraid that it will be swamped with people from the Daytona 500. Here I thought I had done such a good job avoiding holidays, etc. What are your opinions? Will it be awfully crowded if we go that week? We can't go as early as Jan. If we can't make it that week we will have to wait until mid/end of April. Would that be better? It might be worth the extra $ if it is less crowded, etc.

Thanks again for everything!!

Room only codes just came out! I saved almost $300 going from my AP code (I now don't have to buy the AP at $403) :-)

The code is XOA. I had to call CRO twice. The first CM did/couldn't find the code, but the second one was successful!!!!

Go get them!

You should be fine. I would stick to early to mid Feb if I were you. Attendance is low during those times but I do recall a busy period around the President's holidays? (Someone wanna help me there??)

I would guess you are better off with Feb than Apr. Walk on access to many rides and attractions. How does THAT sound to you? :)

as you can see from my signature, I stay each first week in February...I wouldn't have it any other way...no crowds, cheap as all get out and cool weather...well.. I am from S Florida, so cool is relative...I wear shorts and sweat shirts, but northerns are swimming the crazy kooks!!

......for the info on MK in December. I am trying to put together a workable and somewhat stress free (sounds impossible, doesn't it?) schedule for touring the parks. I will take your advice and hit the parks with the designated early morning entry. We have a 5 day pass and I am thinking about doing all parks once except MK, which we will do twice. Hopefully this will give us an opportunity to take in most of everything we want to see and do. We also have two wp passes to use. I'm hoping BB will be open during this time. Again, thanks for the tip!

I didn't mean to scare the bejesus out of you...Just wanted you to know about the traffic around Daytona area and the airports...While some of the NASCAR Fans do stay in Orlando, and at WDW with the time of year you still will have lower crowds. Mid/Arpril would put you going during Spring Break...don't change your dates...just be awear...most of the fans will be at the race, as well as many locals. (Most of the fans stay in the Daytona area)

p.s. How cool would it be to be driving on Tomorrowland Speedway and pass Dale JR. Tony Stewart, Mark Martin, or Jeff Gorden.

Again, thanks to Fred and MAGICinMYHEART. After reading your posts, I started laughing. Of course you are right!!! As I mentioned in a previous post (somewhere here), I really had to pressure (okay, maybe they were threats but you can't prove nothing) my SO into going back so soon after returning. Of course, my 3 kids were all on board, but he is stubborn and thinks they will be BORED! I would not be responsible for my actions if I heard "Yeah, real great time to go", etc. :hyper: Just kidding, he wouldn't say that, but he may be thinking it ;)

Anyway, this will be our first time onsite and our second trip to WDW, and like everyone, I just want to make the right decisions about when to go. The crowds are probably more important than the weather...we live in WI. It has to be warmer in FL than WI during that time!! We will be some of those crazy Northerners in the pool!

Thank you so much for your help and the laugh (bejesus got me going for some reason...giddiness?)

You all are the best!! I am now going to relax about our dates.
Does anyone know how I can add a countdown clock to my screen? OOOOHHHH, it's sooo exciting.

Jsut click on the link below, and be sure to follow all the directions. After doing all that, go to the Test Board under the Technical Board on the Main Discussion page and make your first post there to see if the countdown looks right. I hope I didn't just confuse you. . .

Travel Channel played the hotels episode from WL again this morning. I almost yelled for my daughter to come in and watch it with me, but then they started showing WCC. I didn't want her to see what happens when she asks for ketchup.

JBurke-- you wore makeup in THAT heat/humidity???????????????? you're a better man than i am..

Magestic - ok...i just realized that i really do need to pay attention to the transporation posts....i completely forgot about the MK (we drive to all the other parks, but the MK doesn't lend itself to that)...

so....regarding the schedule of the MK boat.....how early does it start running to the MK?.....i ask this because the last time we were at WDW (summer 2002) the monorail and boat from the TTC only began running about 7 minutes before opening (unless you had reservation for the castle breakfast, in which case you could get on the monorail early)....
this was a major problem for us, since we like to be in the park at opening and on the first train (so that we're the first people on Splash Mountain, without having to run there)....

we noticed that the MK resorts were able to get to the park much earlier (the monorail began running there long before the park opened)...
is that also true of the boat?...when is the earliest you can get to the MK by boat (ie. 10 minutes before opening, half hour before, hour before, etc.)

thanks in advance...

Thanks, Erica, for the info on the countdown clock. Boy, it didn't seem that far away when I looked at my calendar ;)

Just returned from WL last night :( and can say without any reservation, this is my favorite resort anywhere! We stayed at WL last summer for one night in concierge and fell in love with it - but I thought maybe it was the concierge that played a part in that...since I read through these threads and see all the other hotels people rave about.
We had a reservation for a woods view but were upgraded to a courtyard view - room 1023 on the ground floor, king bed. At first I thought I may want to be higher up for a view, but I fell in love with this room. Our sliders opened up to a little grassy area with trees and bushes. My son (17 months old) and I sat out there and watched ducks, bunnies, birds and snakes go by. We probably are not supposed to, but we walked right out through the bushes to the pool...most people with these rooms were doing this.
We never had to wait long for a boat to MK. We both agreed we would rather ride the boat than the monorail to MK. It was so much more relaxing! Speaking of the monorail, we went and looked at all the hotels the monorail stops at. I was especially interested in the Poly since people seem to love it so. We walked all around...it was okay. Not special to me, like the LODGE!
WL is so beautiful...when we are there we feel like we are many miles away. Poly looked old to me...sorry Poly lovers.
There are so many things about WL we love I could go on and on. But, I can't - we are on our way to the beach for the rest of our vacation.
There is only one minor thing about the Lodge I would change. And that is the pool music. It is nice and relaxing, but the same exact chorus plays every 2 minutes over and over. Trust me, I timed it...sitting on our verandah...
Anyway, those of you going for the first time - you will LOVE it at this hotel.
And in typical fashion, I will be online for a while now planning our next trip back for September!!!

TOO FUNNY

My friends and I saw you and your hubby walking around the pool. Great looking couple.

I have to agree that the music around the pool could use an overhaul. It is permanently etched in my brain now.

Glad you enjoyed the lodge. We did also.

2 boats from WL.

Large boat (can roll strollers on) starts running 30 minutes prior to opening (approx). It goes WL/FW/MK (any order).

Small boat (fold strollers) runs 7am - 10pm
It goes WL/FW/CR (any order)

If you'd like to get to MK earlier for a PS or something, just take the small boat to CR and either walk or take the monorail (which starts around 7am). We did this when we had our early CRT breakfast. It was quite "painless". ;)
