Just wanna BUMP this up, too! I'm not leaving for another 4 1/2 months, but I'm so excited. . .I REEAALLYY hope that AP rates come out for the period that we're staying there. DH said that he hopes that the AP rate for a standard is $200 or less a night---or else we may not be able to stay there :(. What do y'all think?

:wave2:

Erika,

Yes ::yes:: the AP Rate when/if it comes out should be less then $200.00 a night for standard room.

Thank you so much, Beckie! I am relieved to hear that you think the rate will be under $200/night. Now I'll just have to wait n' see if the AP rates DO come out.

:wave2:

Erika-

Don't lose heart! I saved nearly $450.00 when AP rates came out for WL and I thought they would never come! I'm already holding my breath for AP rates for JANUARY for Heaven's sake!

have you tried booking your ressies with an AAA rate? I believe the discount for October is 10%. The discount won't get you under $200, but it should get you to about $215.

Babybunrab-- You are so sweet. . .thank you for giving more hope. You DID save a bunch!

julybride-- Thank you for the great suggestion. . .I forgot about that until you mentioned it. I've talked about this option with DH in the past, but he doesn't think we really need AAA, so consequently we aren't members and can't apply a room discount . I'll try to talk to him again about it this week ;)!

Did you see your sweetie on the Tony's last night! Bet you were jumping when he won best actor in a musical!

:cheer2: :thewave: :cheer2:

I don't know if this helps you or not? But I just got a AAA standard room rate of $186.89 which includes tax for Sept. 17??

I booked 5+2 package and wanted to add another night!

Just for your information........We booked a courtyard room for December 19-31, using AAA rates for $212 per night. I am not sure if you are a AAA member but it might help to find out if the rates are still valid. If they are, you might want to join. I think you can get a standard rate of under $180 using AAA.

I really hope this helps and best of luck in securing a good rate for your trip. It is never too early to be thinking about the great times you will have at WDW!!

inthemood-- Thanks for trying to help; I appreciate it :) . I'm glad you have that rate. We are staying at WL from 10/20-10/30--that's regular season, and we didn't book the package (we just aren't "package" people). But thanks again  !

SpeechGuy/Mick-- Thank you, too :) Sounds like you have a great deal at a fun time! We are going in October, and we aren't AAA member--I think DH feels that we really don't need it and that it would be silly to get it just for discounts--but I'll try to talk to him because AAA sounds like a great program anyway ;) . I may call CRO and ask what the AAA rates are for our travel dates. And I agree with you-- it's NEVER too early. . .;)

You all are so helpful here. Thank you!

:wave2:

Aesalsa (Erica)....You're very welcome!

Doesn't hurt to check it out. You might want to ask a AAA travel agent if it is worth getting a membership in order to use the discounts.

Sounds like this will be your first time staying on Disney property, too. I can understand your excitement and anticipation, even if it is 4 months away. Our trip is two months beyond yours and we are getting our plans together. The planning is really the exciting part of it, although the actual vacation will be special, too!!! From everything I've read and heard, WL is the best resort when planning a first on-site stay at WDW. Keep planning away and ENJOY!

Mick :wave2:

Please be forewarned!!!

Once you stay at WL, you'll never want to stay ANYWHERE ELSE!!!

I justr returned from 5 nights at WL. I had a very enjoyable time.

Here are some of my pro's and con's about the WL:

Pro's:

**stunning building, beautiful grounds, a wower of a lobby, and was in my room by 11am the day i arrived.
**awesome view from my STANDARD lobby view room of the MK, CR. Poly, Castle, monorail, space mtn and Wishes. Was in 5084. I was given a complimentary upgrade to an interior courtyard view but after seeing the room, I really wanted a lobby room and they gave me a great one. Now to specify these views, CR, Poly, monorail, space Mtn and wished were very clear, you could see castle in the distance at night when changing colors. Great rooms these standards are and worth the price in my book. The folks 4 doors down from me had the same view and they were as pleased as I was.
**housekeeping was top notch. Turn down service every day without having to ask and some really cool towel animals.

Con's (be gentle on me pls):

**room was extremely small but again the room was fine for 2.
**resort was overrun with kids hence being unable to get a chair at the pool and when you finally did get a chair, the kids were running buck wild screaming. Not very relaxing. Kids were everywhere and speaking of pool, its WAY to small. lifeguards were excellent and really watching the kids. took away the deluxe feel of the resort having so many kids there.
**dam beds were always tunning into my shins
**morning wake up call from lobby eatery was really bad when they would ring the bell and yell come and get it.
**bus service was never direct. Always stopping at ft wilderness campgrounds enroute to most parks which meant bus had to back track to lodge area to catch the highway. for example, from WL to Epcoy yesterday took 45 minutes. Boat launches were efficient but again, always had to wait as we went to ft wilderness. getting back to resort meant multi stops and my gosh, the bus to DTD took on the average of 50 minutes from the time we boarded till we made the rounds at every hotel (poly CR, GF and good ole' ft wilderness. now there was an emplotyee at the bus areas everyday timing busses. she told me they were making alot of effort to improve the bus situation. To be honest, the average wait was about 10 minutes between busses but once on board you had to allow at least 30 minutes to get to your destination. Boat launch took about 25 minutes to get to MK due to stops at ft wilderness. Oh yeah, often they would hit Ft wilderness on the return route first because the other launch wuold still be docked at the WL. GRRRRRR frustrating.
**MY biggest gripe**** no food after midnight. WAS AS IF THEY FIGURED NO ONE EATS AFTER 12..

ok so once again, I truly had an enjoyable time and appreciate everyones imput with my questions regarding the WL. I hope I was able to add tp the info regarding the standard rooms. Oh yeah, the lobby standard rooms are 89-81 89 being closest to the driveway. I would stay in a standards anytime there. It is not in my opinion to get a courtyard or woods view. My standard view was priceless.

ps about the weather. HOT HOT HOT HOT OMG was it hot. Almost unbearably hot. Rained every day around 530 for about an hour. some wicked lightening. I got sdo much color . Oh ye4ah, it was HOT HOT HOT
