The NEW Official November 2010 Countdown & Planning Thread ~ Come join us! (Part 2)

First words out of DS's as he came down the stairs this morning -
"Can I take a Mickey head off of the wall?"

What a good kid! :lmao:

Be proud. You have raised him well. :lmao: that's really sweet!!! i love the kid anticipation!!!!
QOTD: I will hopefully be finished on Thursday...minus the makeup and flatiron, etc!! I can't pack up seasonal clothes like most of you do. We wear lots of stuff year round depending on the weather pattern we are in at the time!! Last year, we had the shorts packed away in mid Nov....not sure this year...snacks, toiletries, stuff like that will def be packed/shipped...our flight is on a Sat morning at 7:30, so we have to be GONE from home by 4:30:scared1: So, I need Friday to be as less-harried as possible so we can try to go to bed at a decent hour. Anyone think 5or 6 is too early?:lmao: I really have considered at least being in bed with pjs by then!! At least we are immobile and maybe our minds/bodies will think it's time to sleep!!!! Can y'all tell this is gonna be a major issue for us?

Just wanted to stop by and say hello!

I will be at our favorite place November 14-18 again this year, our first stay Deluxe though--at the Poly:banana:

Got the 40% PIN and, well, we just had to come back:rotfl2:(like I need an excuse)! The Poly has always been my dream resort, ever since my first visit waaaaay back in 1980 when my grandmother stayed there one night as a present to herself (the rest of the time we were off site, couldn't afford on-site at the time) our first visit when I was 4 years old. I still remember walking off the monorail into "paradise!"

It will be a "girls only" surprise trip for my mom's birthday (#57), just the three of us--Me (34) and my two year old daughter. My grandmother will be with us in spirit for sure, we went the same week every year when I was a kid on our way to visit her in Sarasota. She died of breast cancer when I was 11, so most of my memories of her are wrapped up in WDW somehow.

Thanks for letting me share why WDW will always be so special to me...I am glad I have a place to go to where people "get it".
And, all of you know that November is THE BEST time to visit, too!
But, we really should try to keep this secret to ourselves a little more, dont you think? I don't think I could handle waiting in a line for more than 10 minutes anymore:scared1::rotfl:

Cheers! Hope to see some of you there!

QOTD time!! When will you finish packing?
I will finish probably at midnight the night before we leave which will be fun because I think I will have to get up at 4 am!!!

When we drove down I was finishing packing around midnight(while everyone else got a good nights sleep) and up by 3 to leave since we wanted to miss the NY traffic like it mattered much since we always hit the Maryland/DC traffic anyhow :rotfl:

But now that we fly and stay the night before at a hotel near the airport I finish up sometime around noon(the day before)after dropping the dog off at the kennel which is a project in itself, since I have to pack up her food and toys for her stay then we head out to start our journey(hour drive to airport) 4-5 pm, check-in, have dinner then to bed early for our am flight the next day.

I do so love flying , before I was tired and frazzled by time we reached WDW, now I am relaxed and rested.

DS suggested driving this year to save money(he is so cheap):scared1: I said are ya crazy? My days of a two day, 10 hour each day drive are a thing of the past, once we flew the first time that was it for me

Welcome !

I think the Poly is a lovely resort , and you described it exactly how I felt the time we visited to go to the Aloha Dinner Show ("I still remember walking off the monorail into "paradise!")
I only wish DH felt the same way he has no desire to ever stay there.
I have never been to the world in November but have my fingers crossed it will be everything everyone says about November visits.

I will finish probably at midnight the night before we leave which will be fun because I think I will have to get up at 4 am!!!

Not sure when I'll finish, but I'm going to start very soon!!! :woohoo:

I will likely be finished with everything except the last minute items about a week before we leave.

:welcome:

We are staying deluxe for the first time as well, due to the 40% off PIN! :thumbsup2

And yes, I agree November is the best time to visit!! :cool1:

QOTD time!! When will you finish packing?

Probably not until the night before. lol I am pretty much packed for the most part now. But there are a few things that I will finish up the week we leave. Mostly "winter" clothes, since they will be in full swing by then.

QOTD time!! When will you finish packing?

It is highly likely that I will be putting the last items in the bag as we are putting them in the car to go to the airport...:yay::yay:

QOTD time!! When will you finish packing?

The clothes will be half done as soon as the darn weather decides to stay cool on a regular basis! I'll finish up the rest a day or two before we leave, depending on the weather forecast. I've already started the medicine/toiletry bag....which seems to have a ridiculous amount of stuff already, but I'm sure I'll forget something and have to pay triple the price at the gift shop!:rotfl:

QOTD-

While I started a while ago, I won't finish till the day of (you know the hairdryer, brushes, makeup) all that stuff we use every day. The plan is get DH off to work and the girls all off to school then pack the car and the cooler and get myself ready (I like an as late as possible shower since it will be 24 hours in the car.) DD15 gets off the bus first. She will go though her books and get the things she needs for homework and dump everything else. Then DD11 will do the same quickly. I get them in the car and DH will join us. We will head to DD8's school and pick her up from school and head out from there. So, their stuff gets packed last minute as well. We will be on the road by 3:30 so I have the day to finish.

Im curious what WDW phone apps everyone is using free/paid. I found a free wait-time app but not sure how accurate it is. I must admit, I have checked it every day. Does anyone know of an app that organizes adrs and confirmation numbers? I would love to hear from anyone who has used them this year or after their early Nov. trips.

DD found Mickey wallpaper and screensavers and put them on my phone to add to the anticipation. Im waiting until 50 days to start getting obnoxiously:lmao: excited.

My husband and I both have the Undercover Tourist Lite (it's the free version) on our Iphone & Ipod touch. It does the wait times and lists restaurants and yes, we've checked times several days just to 'see' what they were like. :rolleyes1 It lists all the restaurants & their menus too in case you don't have that information handy.

I don't know of one that organizes but my Ipod Touch has a note section where I could put that info in or even on my calendar and pull it up while in the park if I wanted to.

QOTD time!! When will you finish packing?

Sometime the afternoon before we leave. I hope to have the car packed up & ready at a decent hour. We usually leave around 4am since it's a 13 hour drive however our WVU Mountaineers have a game the night before and hubby will need to get some sleep, I'm not sure what time the game is but I hope 7 or 8 pm. I may just have to get him in the passenger seat and take the first turn at driving so we can get out of here!

And I can't pack pack until I do our warm weather to cool weather switch out and our weather has changed so I need to do that ASAP but I'm still not sure I'll pack for WDW until closer to time so I can check the weather report just to be safe.

QOTD: When do you finish packing?

Well, for me it is complicated. Since this is a surprise trip for the kids, I have to pack when they are in bed or when they are in school. The day before we leave (Monday) I have class until 10:40 am then I have to drive to south Jersey to drop off the dog at my sister's house, before working 3-9pm. So, it looks like I'm not getting too much sleep that night.

But, I am hoping it gets cooler and stays cool :worship:, so I can start packing shorts and tanks (if needed). I have been buying things for our trip and putting them directly into the suitcases.

The "Back Yard Brawl" will be going on during our last day/drive home. DH is not very pleased about that. I told him I would hop on the phone with Bill Stewart right away and ask him to postpone it till we get back.

I can't believe September is almost over!

We got tickets for the Christmas party on Nov 11th. At first we thought we would just skip it but we've never been to it before so we figure we should do it at least once!

I will start packing the before I leave and finish right before the bags get put in the car.

Aren't we all Disney Crazy?

In about a month I will bookmark Accuweather's 10 day forcast for Orlando and check it several times a day untill I'm on the plane!

Last year we went at the same time of year and I didn't bring enough clothes. I must remember that the temp. changes a lot during the day and I will need to bring clothes for layering!! Although if I "forget" I can just buy more things to wear while I'm in Disney:cool1:!

I will probably finish almost everything at least a week ahead of time... just add the last minute stuff the night before. I'm a little OCD when it comes to that... I've started packing already!
