My mother always preached, "no white shoes before Easter and you have to put them away after Labor Day." I know that rule has gone out the window. She also got upset when I refused to take shorthand in HS. She was sure that I would need it one day!:rotfl2:

Hey wait a minute!!:rolleyes2 I took shorthand in high school and use it to this day. DH is always :sad2: because he can't read my little notes. I actually used it in college to take notes in class. I still use it.

The no white after labor day and before memorial day (Easter in the south) still applies EXCEPT to Florida. In fact, I'm pretty sure that men getting off planes in Miami are required to be wearing shiny white slip on shoes!!! :rotfl2: At least if they're going to Century Village!! :lmao:

It's funny how some things a mother repeats over and over stick with us for life eh?

If anyone looks at me cross-eyed for wearing white I will just tell them my DIS friends said it was ok to wear white in November :rotfl2:

Too funny cause I love the tea cups but have not been on them since my youngest was 11 or 12 I feel silly going on them without a kid :rotfl:

You are welcome to borrow DS pirate: He is 6, turning 7 at WDW. He won't do the roller coasters, but loves the other rides. :goodvibes We'll be there about the same time :cool2:

Oh - and no Mission Space for me!! Didn't know it until I went on it, but apparently I don't do well in confined spaces. :faint: Yuck!

So that's it, the only 2 things I won't/can't ride at WDW - Tea Cups and Mission Space!
Same here! MS green is not so bad, but NO Teacups!

Airfare taken care of!! :cool1: AAAHHHHH!!! What a relief...now I can quit checking Continental every day! I would just be sick if it got any lower....i don't think it will....haven't gotten that price in several years...and if it drops I do NOT wanna know about it!!!
Been reworking my days a bit, so tomorrow or Thursday I am gonna see about changing any of my WS ADRs around if I need to....
Shelly...I will be in on the 7:30 flight:scared1: which means we gotta get up and leave around 4:eek: Geez...we are gonna be FRIED!!!! But,think of the $$$$ we saved, right?!! LOL
Next on the list: packing folders/cubes....I want to get the biggest one (20)for dh and maybe the 18...also an 18 for me and ds14. I will probably get the next size down for ds11 and dd7. A few cubes for underclothes/tees.....and the shoe bag. Also...we have 2 payments left!!!
We started reading 101 Dalmations today...dd wanted to read it when we were close to 101 days! Which is tomorrow....we are about halfway thru the original Pinocchio....don't know if we will finish it....it's just not interesting to them:confused:
After 101 we will either do Peter Pan or Alice in Wonderland!!!!!! Does anyone know which Alice is the best? I thought about just whatever the library has available, but I kinda wanted to buy it! They have so many versions of it.....

I could play like the substitute grandma :rotfl:

Yes it is a great feeling once you have your air all set.....Congrates!

We always take an early am flight and honestly I think you don't notice being tired since your in WDW earlier and the excitement takes over instead of fatigue, well not with my DH but he is always tired :rotfl2:

I subcribed to Touring Plans tonight since I became curious seeing how so many people see to use them or TGM anyhow looking at the crowd calendars I started thinking maybe I should switch around a couple of our days too but I hate to think of trying to get ADR's if I did change plans now :scared1:

Showed DH the article about Via Napoli and he want to try it so I will be attempting to get a late ressie for the night Epcot has EMH

ARGH! Still sweating airfare here. It was close today. I almost bought, but I just want to avoid a layover w/ my autistic son. I'm freaked about him on a plane as it is. I just want to get there (and not at 10pm:mad: ) in a straight shot. It's troubling! I'm envious of those w/ their transportation nailed down!

Just thought I would share... Our local high school is on MTVs "If You Really Knew Me" right now. Well, atleast right now in my timezone. Not sure if its a properly portraying our area. But it is interesting to see how the teenagers here see things.

And if you watch it... YES, I have the accent! I probably fall into the trendy, yet creeker crowd. And I have never went hunting. LOL

Disney Tickets
Disney raising ticket prices once again
Featured, Jason Garcia, Tickets and Deals — By Jason Garcia on August 3, 2010 at 5:02 pm

Because of incorrect information provided to the Sentinel, an earlier version of this story said rental prices for lockers, wheelchairs and scooters would also rise. Disney says those prices will remain unchanged.

Walt Disney World is raising ticket prices once again, despite a still-weak economy that has the resort continuing to use discounts to lure travelers.

Disney announced Tuesday that it will raise the price of a one-day, one-park adult ticket to $82 — the first time any of Orlando’s theme-park resorts has charged more than $80 for a base ticket. It amounts to a 3.8 percent increase from the current $79 charge.

The resort will also hike prices for multiday-ticket packages, which it sells in far greater volume than single-day tickets. It will tack another $2 — from $52 to $54 — to price of adding a “park hopper” feature to base tickets allowing visits to multiple Disney theme parks in one day. And it will increase annual pass prices, too.

The new prices go into effect Thursday.

“We continuously monitor the marketplace to ensure pricing that reflects a strong entertainment value,” Disney World spokesman Bryan Malenius said. “Our guests continue to agree that a day at a Disney theme park is a great entertainment value.”

Malenius said Disney’s guest surveys have continued to show that nearly 90 percent of resort guests rate the value of Disney parks as “good, very good or excellent.”

Disney typically raises ticket price each year near the beginning of August. And while this year’s round of increases are smaller than last year’s for some shorter ticket packages, they are steeper than a year ago for the more-frequently sold packages of four days or longer.

For instance, the price of a five-day park hopper — one of Disney’s most popular ticket options — will rise from $280 to $291, an increase of 3.9 percent. The same ticket rose just 2.9 percent last year.

Disney’s move could trigger a round of similar increases at Universal Orlando and SeaWorld Orlando. The theme-park rivals have traditionally raised prices in lockstep together, though neither announced increases Tuesday.

“We’re not going to talk about our pricing strategies,” Universal spokesman Tom Schroder said.

“At this time, we have no plans to increase prices at SeaWorld,” added SeaWorld spokesman Nick Gollattscheck. “We run our business plan independently from the other theme parks.”

Jason Garcia can be reached at jrgarcia@orlandosentinel.com or 407-420-5414.

Below are the increases Disney is making to base ticket prices:

1-day: $79 to $82 (+3.8%)
2-day: $156 to $162 (+3.8%)
3-day: $219 to $224 (+2.3%)
4-day: $225 to $232 (+3.1%)
5-day: $228 to $237 (+3.9%)
6-day: $231 to $242 (+4.8%)
7-day: $234 to $247 (+5.6%)

To add “park hopper” or water-park admission to base ticket: $52 to $54 (+3.8%)

Annual pass increases:

Premium (incl. water parks, etc.), non-resident: $619 to $629 (+1.6%)
Regular, non-resident: $489 to $499 (+2%)
Premium, Florida resident: $489 to $499 (+2%)
Regular, Florida resident: $369 to $379 (+2.7%)
Seasonal, Florida resident: $249 to $259 (+4%)

I'll be joining you on the exhausted first day at WDW. Our flight leaves Pittsburgh at 6:15am :scared1::scared1: I didn't really know that hour existed :rotfl:

So, the cube thing...I've been considering it, but not sure. What made you decide to get them & where are you getting them? I've been watching the prices on ebags. Prices aren't bad, but I'm just not sure.

I read about the ticket price increase yesterday on the Disney Parks Blog

http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/magic-your-way-facts-on-walt-disney-world-prices/

I had planned on ordering tickets from Undercover Tourist before the increases which were rummered to be coming on the first Sunday in August, but unfortunately held off due to the possiblility of Ddil coming with us in Nov and she can get 3 of us in for free so if she does not go I will be paying Disney a free more $ like so many others :rotfl:

Waiting now to see what UT new prices are since I will still most likely buy from them if need be.

Just keep checking! I usually buy around 12-13 weeks out..so you have a few weeks before you need to feel panicked!!:rotfl: I really was surprised they had dropped...and if I were u....a little more $$$ to keep him from melting down and dealing with layovers would be worth it!! It'll work out!

I am with you on the early hour thing!!! People that know me make comments if I am up that early, I must be going to the airport!!! I usually get up around 7ish....we homeschool so I don't HAVE to be anywhere super early....any earlier than that and I am just dragging!!!!
I was looking at them on the Eagle Creek website...the Container Store has them and I have found a few cubes at Target. I am getting the packing folders/envelopes too.If you go to the EC website, they demo it with a video. I read about them on another thread and was curious...dh can NOT pack according to my standards! So, since it's always a bone of contention between us, I figured I better do something...he is a super overpacker....I know this will help him a lot..plus keep me from feeling all crazy!!! He honestly packs so weird that I feel antsy just looking at that suitcase...and he packs so much, he as to pay the overage fee:scared1: so...what he will spend on that twice..plus the worry and aggravation is worth it to me!!
I have always put stuff in Ziplocks~one for each persons socks, one for underwear...all toiletries......just kinda grouped together like that.....if I get a few cubes I know they will last me longer than my beloved Ziplocks!!

Good morning. I only bought 1 of my AP vouchers so far, meant to get atleast 1 more before the price increase, oh well (atleast it's only $10 each).
I need to get my 100 day countdown calendar done today, need to go get some sticky back velcro (I'm making it reusable this time, since we need one every year.) I'll post a pic when it's done.

Well, I've got good park news and bad park news. The bad news is we're all going to miss "Storytime with Belle" at MK...it's going away! The good news is we'll be there after the new character interaction opens! It's going to be characters from the new movie "Tangled," a spin of the story of Rapunzel.

New character interaction opportunity to debut in October
By Leah Zanolla
Aug 3, 2010

"Storytime with Belle," a character meet and greet opportunity in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World will hold its final performance on September 12th to make way for a new "play and greet" interactive experience. The new residents of the Fairytale Garden will be Flynn Ryder and Rapunzel from the upcoming Disney animated film "Tangled." Beginning on October 15th, guests will be able to interact with both characters from the film that retells the classic story of Rapunzel. The movie, featuring the voices of Zachary Levi (NBC's "Chuck") and singer Mandy Moore, is being developed using both computer animation and Disney 3D technology. Even though it is a different way to tell a classic story, there are some Disney "heavyweights" behind it: legendary composer Alan Menken and animator Glen Keane, both of whom worked on "Aladdin," "Beauty and the Beast," and "The Little Mermaid."

I read that this morning. When does Tangled come out? I haven't seen a lot of advertisements for that movie yet...only previews at other movies???

I miss one day and now I am pages behind. Unfortunately I am way behind on lots of other things too and do not have time to read it all.

I see I have competition as the Official Disney Grandma. Humph!:lmao: I carry a bag of small prizes to give to the children I meet in the parks and I save parade seats for families with children so that they can enjoy a couple of more attractions. As my 'readers' will tell you, "The only thing that The Reading Lady likes more than books is children". I am taking about a dozen three year olds to an activity center next Monday. I provide the funds and they provide the entertainment.

If you stay at the same resort as I do I will gladly read to any and all children poolside. My dream job would be Fairy Godmother who goes in and stays with the children while their parents go out for the evening and watch Disney movies and read to them. Sheer heaven!:littleangel:

Slightly Goofy

My Granny died when I was in High School and I still miss her...wanna move down here and be our Granny? LOL...I love the Fairy Godmother idea!!! I too love reading and little kids!!!

Congrats Shawna!! :cool1: I hope you guys aren't too tired for a quick meet-up that day! :goodvibes

WOW that's an early flight! :scared1: I don't think I've ever seen one quite that early out of PGH. Ours is early too, but not quite that early! Oh well, we will all be so excited to get there, so hopefully that will over-ride the exhaustion. :rotfl: I'll be fine as long as I don't end up with a migraine. :headache: I usually get one when I fly.

Just an ice cream ? Sounds like a bargain to me :rotfl:

Me too! My kids would be talking you into buying them more Star Wars stuff!!
