Found out back in 2008 my mom was afraid of heights but she really wanted to do Soarin'... she did her research and as long as we weren't in row 1 she's be okay since in rows 2 & 3 you can see the feel from the rows above you.

We did learn back when my dad and aunt tricked her to go on Big Thunder Rail Road Mountain (I was 9 and absolve myself of any responsibility) my mom and roller-coasters do not mix well at all :rotfl:

When you rode Soarin', where did you set? I have rode it alot, but this last trip we got B1. They say it is the best seat so I was thrilled. Soarin' is one of my favorite rides. But let me tell you what, I did NOT like B1 at all! DH said he thought I was going to rip the hand grip off I was holding on to it tight. I felt like I was constantly falling out. I couldn't figure out why after riding it so many times that I had such a issue. Later that night I went back on it. I knew it had to be a fluke. This time I was in C3. I was perfectly fine. I realized what had happened. I have vertigo. I had no depth perception when I was in B1. I was at the very top, dead center. When I am in rows 2 or 3 and in sections A or C, I am fine. The peoples feet hanging down and being able to see the wall makes all the difference!

Anyways, my point being... maybe if you try a different seat, it might help?

But, I am not going to complain about the lines being a bit shorter either! ;)

I originally had Chef Mickeys booked for breakfast but switched to Cape May when we moved to the Yacht Club! Still looks like we will be crossing paths. No doubt atleast at WCC. Wonder if we will notice each other?

Now that I think about it I think we were in the front row on Soarin, all I know was I was terrified , but now that you mention it , I use to love the Back to the future ride at US then one time I had the bad fortune of sitting in a front row car and could see all the way down below and I was so afraid I never rode it again, my fear of heights in crazy since I do not mind flying and I prefer a window seat :confused3

Not sure if I am brave enough to try Soarin again or not
Big Thunder Mt is another ride I rode once and never again

Anyone remember the Gondola Ride? We rode that the first time we went to Disney in '89, I wish I knew what happened to the video of that day since I was totally petrified, sure I was going to plunge to my death at any moment

Needless to say I have never gone sking and never will :lmao:

So, when are you gonna be there? I'll meet you by the Tea Cup Ride!!! That's a favorite of mine. I also loved Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, but poor me, that favorite is gone! My DS18 will ride ToT and EE, RnR all day, but he totally can't do Tea Cups! :sad2: I will do Dumbo and Alladin, but the Rocket ship ride, which is EXACTLY the same, but up much higher, I haven't been brave enough to try. I went up there with DH and DD8 and stood on the side and got lots of pictures. I've been thinking of the primeval whirl in Dinoland! It looks like the drops are really pretty mild. I think the shtick on this ride is the spinning. I'm looking forward to trying it, but DD8 is too short to ride, so I may have to wait til November and ride with my sister. I love the Dinosaur ride (Project Extinction?), but its dark so DD8 is afraid. She is also afraid of "pretend ghosts" so she won't go in Haunted Mansion again. She didn't rule out real ghosts.. just pretend.:lmao:

I remember that ski lift ride! I went on it as a child. I probably was terrified. But oddly enough, when I was younger, I was so much LESS afraid of heights. We had a condo on the 18th floor of a building and I would be all hanging over the balcony railing waving to people!! I used to do the log flume ride at Kings Dominion (similar to splash mountain) over and over when I was in high school. I have no idea what's with me now!:confused3

Oh - and no Mission Space for me!! Didn't know it until I went on it, but apparently I don't do well in confined spaces. :faint: Yuck!

So that's it, the only 2 things I won't/can't ride at WDW - Tea Cups and Mission Space!

Those of us who will not ride certain rides are very popular folks. Those that travel with us get to use our FP to ride their favorite rides more than once in a row and we get to sit and visit with each other.:cool1:

Slightly Goofy

So true. :lmao: DS11 and I love going on EE and RNRC 2X in a row through the FP line because DS8 and DH don't ride those rides!!! :cool1:

Ahhh, its so nice to be back.:surfweb We were camping over a week and without cell service!:scared1: We were real troopers, my husband and I, without our links to the universe. Now that we're back in the real world, Im very happy to inhale the magic that is the November Countdown Thread (remember my daily scope of experiences revolves around a two year old) and get back into Dis planning mode. Really tried to catch up on all the posts, but a week and a half of posts just seems alittle too daunting. Cant wait to catch up with what you all have been up too.:rolleyes1

I hear you about trying to catch up! I am gone from 2 days from the sight and I feel so out of place! :lmao: we have some chatty girls here! :thumbsup2
Welcome back!
I just had a dream last night that we were at Disney and I forgot everything! No autograph book for my daughter, no camera, no plans! We were just wandering around not knowing where to start! It was like a nightmare! :rotfl:
I guess that is my cue, now that summer vacation trips are over I need to get back to my Disney planning!
lol...

Hi all - late joiner here! DH just turned our 10th anniversary cruise into a 10th anniversary Disney trip deluxe:cool1:! I don't know who this man is, or where he's been the past 10 years, but we got a pin code a couple weeks ago that allows us to get free dining on an off week. He took the code and booked us into AKL (where he swore he'd never stay, because it's too far away from everything:confused3) in a club level room, and upgraded dining to the deluxe plan!:goodvibes Then, he spent 3 hours at the computer yesterday morning, got us MVMCP for our anniversary on the 11th, and booked all of our ADR's...here's what he came up with::wizard:

11/7 - Brown Derby
11/8 - Ohana breakfast, Flying Fish dinner
11/9 - Boma breakfast, Yachtsman steakhouse dinner
11/10 - Yak & Yeti early lunch, Artist Point dinner
11/11 - Anniversary! Akershus breakfast, Narcoossee's dinner, MVMCP
11/12 - Marrakesh lunch, California Grill late dinner
11/13 - Tusker House lunch, Jiko dinner
11/14 - Boma breakfast

I honestly don't know who this man is...he who hates Epcot has agreed to tour the world showcase to "sample drinks" after our dinner at the Brown Derby. There's not much I need to mess with here! :confused3 I feel like we've been sprinkled with Pixie Dust!

What a fabulous DH!!!! :thumbsup2 he's a keeper for sure!

Do you know what website is TourGuideMike? Is he free? I'd like to compare too.

did I mention I'm leaving in less than a week... arriving the 11th!! OMG.. I can do online check-in.... never tried that... :scared:
LOVE tour guide Mike. I used him in June for our mini 2 day trip and the longest we waited was only one time for 30 minutes for soaring.. everything else we walked on AND (I feel sick even saying this).. came home with fast passes!!! :scared1:

Ewwww.... Tea Cups - No Bueno!!! :faint:

me too.. makes me sick! I swear I get nauseous on swings! :lmao:

YES, Loved that ride.. I remember Grad Night '89 (yes, I am old).. all the druggies RAN from the busses to get on them so they could smoke pot.. little did they know that Disney wasn't that stupid and closed them down for the night..

We are following TGM green days for when we go and our plans are as follows:

Fri- 11/5 - Arrive @Poly around noon.. if room is not ready probably just go to MK for a bit, or swim. Dinner @ohana
Sat- 11/6 - AK all day.. especially since it closes at 5 - dinner at Yak & Yeti
Sun - 11/7 - MK - Cinderellas castle for lunch
Mon - 11/8 - Epcot - dinner at Le Cellier
Tues - 11/9 - Rest day - pool, maybe DTD, dinner at Yatchsmans
Wed - 11/10 - Hollywood Studios - lunch at sci-fi
Thurs - 11/11 - Epcot or Hollywood Studios again- want to see Fantasmic.
Fri - 11/12 - last day - MK Dinner @ Kona
Sat - 11/13 - Fly home

Oh I forgot about Mission Space, I did not like that one at all of course I rode it back before there was the option of two sides, but still not gonna risk it again either :rotfl:

Too bad you will be there after me or I would take you up on the tea cup offer :)

Viva la difference'! If we all liked the same things just think of how many riots there would be?

Momof2Disneyboys, you guys go and ride and I will sit and visit with your 8 year old boy and we will have a good time. I speak boy. ;)

DisneyBoundinDec, in other words you find us to be verbose?:cool1:

Yes!! Are you talking about the little built in concrete benches....also the benches inside the TOT when you walk thru the gift shop are great places to lay down while you wait!!! Last year I had a headache so me and ds11 laid down and waited on the fam!!!

Hello all,

Trying to get caught up a bit. Not sure if I've ever mentioned this, but DH is a volunteer firefighter, and he's out working an 18-wheeler fire on the interstate, so I'm staying up a bit for him to come home. It's just after 1am though, so if he's not home soon I think I'll go to bed anyway.

As far as our park plans, we're following whoever has EMH on most days. I know it's against wisdom in terms of crowd levels, but we're not park hopping, and since we'll be moving slowly w/ a three year old we just want to allow ourselves maximum park hours, regardless of crowds.

11/7 (Sun) - arrive at CBR, 1/2 day at Epcot, dinner @ Akershus
11/8 (Mon) - DHS with PM EMH, Play and Dine @ H&V lunch
11/9 (Tues) - DD's birthday! MK, CRT breakfast, Chef Mickey dinner, hope to catch the electric water parade
11/10 (Wed) - Epcot with PM EMH, no ADRs, Food & Wine festival
11/11 (Thur) - MK with AM EMH, LTT early dinner, MVMCP
11/12 (Fri) - AK with PM EMH, Donald's Safari Breakfast
11/13 (Sat) - check out CBR, MK for CP breakfast and a few last rides, 1/2 day at DTD, then hit the road for home

Rides are gonna be a bit wonky this year. DH and I both like all the rides, but DD will be too short for all the big ones, and those are often the ones that would require me to transfer out of my chair (often requiring a great deal of effort from DH). So some of those we may skip altogether, others I may just let DH ride. There are a couple though (such as Everest) that I've never ridden, so we may employ rider swap for those.

ETA: Booo! :guilty: Just noticed on the WDW Park Hours page that the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh will be closed for refurbishment during our stay. Closure is listed as Monday 10/25 through Sunday 11/14, so fingers crossed they finish a couple days early, and we can catch it Saturday morning before we go home.

I rode the green version and still hated it!! :sad2: It is actually very tame, I just didn't like it when they closed the doors and we were trapped in there and I nearly passed out.

Thanks for posting that, I hadn't seen it. I will add it to the closures list on the first page. That really stinks!! Like you said though, maybe it will open a few days early. :wizard:

Happy Tuesday Friends!! Tuesdays are a good day,...don'tcha think? Not quite as harried and dreaded as Mondays! :goodvibes Well...not much new..just wanted to say hey!!!

Good morning Wendy and Shawna

Kind of quiet in here this morning. Everyone must be out buying tiny toiletries for their trip!! :rotfl:

I was in Target this morning before work and found the cutest vintage Mickey Mouse notebooks. They would fit nicely in a park bag. :thumbsup2They were in the stationary/school supply section. They had 3 designs to choose from. I couldn't decide which one I liked the best so I bought one of each!  I think I'm going to use one to take notes on our trip and save the other two for the girls. Debating on whether to give them to them for the trip or save them as stocking stuffers.
