I miss one day and now I am pages behind. Unfortunately I am way behind on lots of other things too and do not have time to read it all.

I see I have competition as the Official Disney Grandma. Humph!:lmao: I carry a bag of small prizes to give to the children I meet in the parks and I save parade seats for families with children so that they can enjoy a couple of more attractions. As my 'readers' will tell you, "The only thing that The Reading Lady likes more than books is children". I am taking about a dozen three year olds to an activity center next Monday. I provide the funds and they provide the entertainment.

If you stay at the same resort as I do I will gladly read to any and all children poolside. My dream job would be Fairy Godmother who goes in and stays with the children while their parents go out for the evening and watch Disney movies and read to them. Sheer heaven!:littleangel:

Slightly Goofy

Can we adopt you? My parents died 11 and 12 years ago and my DD8 never got to meet them. My husband's parents are still alive but live so far away in Texas. We took Grandma to Disney with us last year, and we had a great time, but Grandma said that was it for her!:scared1: And that was her only visit to the MK since she was one of the first guests to stay at the Contemporary in January 1972

We need a Disney grandma!

btw: What's undercover Tourist?:confused3

Yeah SlightlyGoofy, I wish we would be there at the same time, my DS6 would love it, but we leave as you arrive. I'm sure you won't have any trouble finding children who would love it!

Okay, now I have a plan. I shall just move in with each of you for one week a year and take care of the little ones and then if anyone is going to DW I will tag along too. I can help drive and can pay my own way, What more could you wish for? :rotfl2:

Disney Mommy 3, trust me your grandmother still lives on. She lives on in your heart and memory and her love will never leave. Look around you and I am willing to bet that you have an older neighbor, or two, that would dearly love to have some young folks in their lives. The old and the young have much in common.

This 'granny' had best go make some cookies. So stereotypical huh? I do lots that is not though as I am not so very old, yet.

It's a deal!! :thumbsup2 Can you come tomorrow?:flower3:

97 DAYS!!:cool1: Do I want to do anything special in the room for DH? I would love it, but not sure about him.

I can't believe you guys are already plannign what clothes you'll pack! LOL!!

And PX4, you've GOT to be in my area, I'm going to have message you ;)

Congrats Shawna!! :cool1: I hope you guys aren't too tired for a quick meet-up that day! :goodvibes

Hang in there and keep checking. Good luck to you!! :wizard:

WOW that's an early flight! :scared1: I don't think I've ever seen one quite that early out of PGH. Ours is early too, but not quite that early! Oh well, we will all be so excited to get there, so hopefully that will over-ride the exhaustion. :rotfl: I'll be fine as long as I don't end up with a migraine. :headache: I usually get one when I fly.

Does it look like she is going to be able to come with you guys?

Honestly I have no clue, she left it up in the air since her mom might want to come down too and if so they will get a room on her discount, in fact DH asked me yesterday if I heard back from her but as I told him I don't want to push since I hate when someone does that to me about something. Maybe she had second thoughts after talking to me one night since I told her my plans about letting a balloon up in MK by Splash Mt (my DS's :littleangel: favorite ride) and she told me she did not go anyplace near Splash Mt on her visit this March. I know it will be hard but a big reason I want to go is because my DS and I had talked so many times of going at Christmas time and it is something I want and need to do in his memory, he will be there with me in my heart. I know it will be one of the hardest things I have done since his death but I just feel I need to do it to move on. So if you see a silly woman walking around crying for no reason while your in the parks it just might be me. Ddil told me she started to cry out of the blue as she past the fish & chips place we ate at in Epcot last year.

Me too! My kids would be talking you into buying them more Star Wars stuff!!

My oldest DS was Star Wars, he is 40 now and still loves all things Star Wars :rotfl:

Undercover Tourist in an online site which sells attraction tickets at a discount price WDW and some other places too. I think it is the mousesaves newsletter that offers a special link to the site for even better discounts and from being here on the DIS I found out you can have the tix added to your KTTW card at check in plus there prices include tax and shipping where if you purchase from Disney the prices listed are before tax and shipping, so it is a good deal

I went ahead and ordered 1 more AP today before the prices go up. It is only a $10 increase, but that's one more cool trading pin!
Anyone elses kids crazy about pin trading? My boys each have one of those big black Disney pin satchels. The DS11 had to start putting his pins on the backs of pages because it is completely full on fronts- he has hundreds (DS6 is catching up).
I buy them on ebay so we don't spend a lot on the trading ones and then they each usually pick about 4 new ones to buy.

My kids started the last time we were there. It got to a point where they loved every one they had and didn't want to trade anymore! I guess when we go back with them sometime in the future, I will have to buy some "to trade"!:goodvibes

So I am thinking of booking a dinner at Via Napoli and I know that we are supposed to be able to book starting Friday but does anyone know if you have to call or will it be available to do online?:confused3

I was wondering the same thing , I guess I will get up for 6am and try online and if it is not there then call at 7am since DH said last night he wants to try them out this trip, I haven't seen anything official about being able to book it online:confused3

Got it and replied! Funny how small of a world we live it!

I always dreamed of being fought over but in my dreams it was always a bunch of hunky looking guys but at this time in my life (62) I will settle for you all.:rotfl2:

Momof2Disneyboys and Marshay, do you live nearby me and each other? :) I commute.

DisneyBoundinDec, I will already be there in December and I am sort of hard to miss so maybe we will meet.

I am a teacher, of sorts, and have the pleasure of being a surrogate grandmother to many of this small town's children. Some of my original ones bring their kids now and one has the audacity to bring her GRANDchild. Old, I am very, very old. ;) It is sad that there are so many children without grandparents nearby or available. I have an open door policy but mine have done went and grown up nearly and I seldom see them anymore. The 19 year old calls often though, I am the only person he knows that is allowed to stay up that late.

I am all for making lists of what you are going to wear etc. etc. So what if the weather or times and dates change that is just one more opportunity to make more lists and anything that keeps us thinking Disney is a good thing.

Slightly Goofy

Disney Mommy 3, there is something magical about children and books. Matching the right book to the right child is like the scene in HP where they find the right wand.

The magic moment when a child goes from being read to and then to being a reader is my most magical moment of all and I remember each and every time. I do.

You are a blessing to the children you read to and while you may never know it you are making a big difference in their world. :worship:
