I'll fully admit that I'm PMSing but I just watched your video and I'm sitting here bawling my eyes out. Thank you for sharing that with us.

I did the same thing before my first Princess - I obsessed with YouTube videos and sat here getting all weepy!

Tinkeramy, totally enjoyed the video and your blog. I've read so many blog recaps of Princess and for some reason I've not seen this one before. Ditto for you tube videos. I think your blog pics are some of the most comprehensive I've seen. So exciting!

Thanks! Both Julie and I are complete photo op fixated, so it was fun! I mean, if you pay to race at Disney, you should soak up as many memories as you possibly can, right?

OMG I love this!!!!!!!! :lovestruc princess: :lovestruc

I really enjoyed watching your video and reading your blog post! Thanks for sharing these! February, get here quick!!! I'm so excited!

PS It was fun to see that you ate at Le Cellier after the race - My mom and I have ADRs for Le Cellier Sunday evening after the race!

Thanks, y'all! It will be here before you know it! Le Cellier was YUUUUUUM! Beef & beer to replace the lost carbs & protein, right? We did the Akershus Princess lunch the first year and it was a blast, but we were looking for something different last year and now we might be hooked.

Oh - and I know people are freaking about the sweepers. PLEEEEEEEEEZE don't! You have so many months to train and get where you need to be. If you train *consistently* at, say a 14min/mile pace, you should be grand, and grab some pictures, too. Get yourself in as early a corral as you can for some cushion. Julie and I started in C, did 2/1 intervals, grabbed a thousand photos, finished in 3:24 and never saw a sweeper.

And if you are in danger of the sweeper, try to have perspective. If you get picked up, it may seem like the end of the world, but it's Disney World! A bad day in Disney World beats a good day anywhere else, in my book. If possible, try to soak up the atmosphere, pat yourself on the back for giving it effort and pick up your medal - you still get one. :cheer2:

Here's something about which I am curious. After I finished the first year, I had my medal on and I was walking back through Epcot to catch the boat to our hotel. As I walked through, I was cheering for the people running through. I was yelling, "You can do it!" and "Almost there!" (and not being funny about that; once you are in Epcot you truly are almost there) I got smiles from some, but the Stink Eye from others. So, poll: if you were at the end of 13.1 miles, would you appreciate a finished runner yelling out encouragement, or would you find it irritating and feel like they were showing off?

Le Cellier was our first choice for dinner on race day, but when the ADR window opened up it wasn't available. So, I had booked Ohana. Seeing the comment above about Le Cellier reminded me to check again--- they had availability for the time we wanted!! :yay:

Yeah - we had tried to get it as soon as the window opened but couldn't. Thankfully, Julie kept trying and I guess they opened up a block of ressie times. Definitely one of my first choices; it was just SO GOOD.

Hi All! As a NYC princess in training, the last week has been incredibly difficult. I'm so thankful that we had power and water in my par of Brooklyn but I know many who aren't as lucky right now.

Making the best of a bad situation though! My office wants everyone to come in to work this week regardless of down transit so this morning I'm embarking on a bus to train then a 5.5 mile wall/run over te bridge to my office in Midtown! Wish me luck :)

And if there are any princesses in the city who need help, please please reach out if you need anything!

I'm gonna chime in on your question tinkeramy cuz this is something that got on my nerves at ToT. Of course, ToT was miserable for most but while I was running I thought I was the only miserable one. And I hadn't even come close to running the race I'd planned for so I was already in a bad mood (I now understand my mental failure and hope to never repeat this attitude). Anyway, I hated all of the volunteers telling me I was almost there. They had no idea where "there" was cuz they had been in their same spot all night. And they really had no idea where "there" was compared to where we started (most of them anyway). I heard 1 more mile for at least a half mile. Now the actual runners who had already finished were giving me much more specific distances, like 1200 meters, 800 meters, etc. I appreciated that much more. So after that, I came to the conclusion that I don't want anyone to tell me I'm almost there unless I can actually SEE the finish line. I also don't want to hear anyone tell me how much more to go unless they are very specific. I did appreciate one finished runner who said I know you are sick of hearing this but I promise you that you really are almost there. He understood me. Lol.

As for the Stink Eye, they had probably already heard it 200 times and were by then just feeling lied to. Lol

I do appreciate the volunteers though. Without them most of us couldn't make it to the finish line. Or the start line, for that matter. And they do mean well. They are doing their best to encourage us. And for the most part, they did an amazing job of it.

I did my first half in Sept. and wanted to DIE the last couple of miles. A friend who had already finished jumped back on the course and helped me through mile 12. I was super jealous that she had already finished, but without her support and that of the crowd (including other finishers), I don't know what I would have done. I love the cheering--whether you are a spectator or a finisher--it's the ones who insist on running extra miles back up along the course route after they finish that irritate me.

I have multiple opinions about this. Sometimes I love it when people are cheering me on and sometimes it seems patronizing. Usually when it's crowds, it's good. When I did TM 2 weeks ago, some of the people in our wave would race down a hill or whatever and then stop and wait for the rest of us (while they have a chance to catch their breath). They'd cheer us on but it felt patronizing. It felt like they were bragging that they got down before us. In reality, I never stopped, I kept going except to stop and help others. But some people do quick spots and then stop and I kind of wanted to say "You didn't finish any sooner than I did so quit bragging" as they were motivating us to "catch up with them." That, I found patronizing. But normally cheers from the crowds, I like. The "You got this!!!!" and "Almost there!!!" stuff is usually motivational for me. Does that even make sense? :lmao:

For the PHM, just remember, when you hear/see the gospel choir you're not hallucinating...you really are ALMOST THERE...PROMISE! (well, as long as they don't move it from where it's been in previous years!) :littleangel:

After I used the Clif bloks, I felt like I was picking that crap out of my teeth for miles.
:lmao: Right?! I really can't focus on pace and form when I'm in fear of losing a crown to a Shot Blok!

Okay, ladies - I know there are lots of new Princesses and I want to get you pumped up! I remember how much time I spent poring over everyone's videos and pictures, getting all teary.... so here you go!
:thumbsup2:goodvibes Your blog and video were huge motivators for me to register for the 2013 Princess! Thanks for sharing again.

I think I'm something of an anomaly, but I LOVE encouragement from anyone, at any time, in any way they choose to phrase it! And I'm totally anti-social when running in every other way. :rotfl: Honestly, I don't much register just what anyone's saying, so the "almost there" doesn't bother me in the least.

Consider it a training run! Hang in there - many, many good thoughts to the NE from this FL hurricane survivor. :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

It is a big old muscle knot! I was freaked out so I went to my doctor last night after work. he is a runner so he knew exactly what it was. So I've been trying to work it out and it seriously does hurt like mad! On the bright side, my shins feel great other than that knot! I'm going to try to do some running tonight and I'm very excited to get out there!

ETA - By the way, I love your blog!!
YAY! And thank you! :goodvibes

This princess will GREATLY appreciate all the cheering towards the end of the race. So everyone who will complete before 2:45... please come back to the finish line and motivate me on ! I plan on grabbing my drink at race retreat and going back to the finish line to cheer on those behind me.

I'm a caboose runner and I have no problem with finishers cheering me on. As long as they aren't swinging back to mile 8... Lol. That's a little depressing

But in miles 11-13, I'll take it!!!

I think I would like for people to cheer me on. When I did my 10k last weekend(I came in 92 out of 109, so most people had finished before me), everyone was kind of milling around and all I could think was "Holy crap, do you people know what I just DID?" as there was little reaction as I got closer to the finish line and crossed it. I mean, yeah, for a lot of the "serious" runners it might be a little less exciting, but I want people to pay attention to me and give me credit lol. Sounds arrogant, since 20k other people will be doing the exact same thing, but hey, I'll still take it.

Tinkeramy I LOVED the video!! Looks like the two of you had a GREAT time! I was in corral C also! All your pics brought back such fond memories of when my best friend and I were there...2013 will be with my DD15 - hoping for a beautiful mother/daughter bonding race! Thanks again for reminding me why Im training on these cold, darkoserablf

Happy Training, Princesses!

Oh - and the song "A Dream Is A Wish" by the Cheetah Girls on Disney Mania CD is awesome inspiration!

That is the third time I've watched that video and I tear up every time I get to the gospel choir part. I'm another one that was inspired to sign up by how much fun you two seemed to have in your blog and the video. Thanks for sharing!

I hope all our NE princesses in training rode out the storm ok and are doing well! I can't believe that they're going to hold the NYC Marathon this weekend considering how bad the situation there sounds. Hope you all get cleaned up and back to normal quickly!

They actually announced about a half-hour ago (or at least that's when I heard it on our local news) that they finally decided to cancel it. I think it was the right decision, just a little too late...especially considering people are already there attending the expo! :faint: What a mess.

DH just mentioned that to me. Definitely the right decision, just way too late!

Hi princesses! I have a slightly personal question, so my apologies to those who don't what to know this... But I figured you guys might be a good group to pose this to since you are all so knowledgable about a lot of runner things. Are there any busty runners out there that can recommend a really great bra that basically sucks everything down to your chest with minimal to zero movement? Currently I wear two different kinds when I run, and I really would love to just have ONE that makes it easier for me to get ready for runs... It's really tedious putting on both :(. I wear a 36DDD for regular bras, and anytime I've gone into running shops or even just bra stores like, bali's, nothing helps OR fits! I just want to know what you guys have experience with. Whether this means I need to special order from something you guys recommend, or search for it locally. Anything helps!

I wear the Glory Bra from Athleta, but it only goes up to DD. I have never tried Enell, but have heard lots of good things about them. I have a friend who swears by them. Good luck in your search!

I am a big girl and wear 42DD. I swear by Moving Comfort bras. :worship: The girls do NOT move at all, the bra is comfortable and I even sometimes wear it on work days. Remember you want your running bra to fit pretty snugly to start with.
