Hi princesses! I have a slightly personal question, so my apologies to those who don't what to know this... But I figured you guys might be a good group to pose this to since you are all so knowledgable about a lot of runner things. Are there any busty runners out there that can recommend a really great bra that basically sucks everything down to your chest with minimal to zero movement? Currently I wear two different kinds when I run, and I really would love to just have ONE that makes it easier for me to get ready for runs... It's really tedious putting on both :(. I wear a 36DDD for regular bras, and anytime I've gone into running shops or even just bra stores like, bali's, nothing helps OR fits! I just want to know what you guys have experience with. Whether this means I need to special order from something you guys recommend, or search for it locally. Anything helps!

I have yet to find a good sports bra in my size. I wear a 34F and the best luck I have is just getting a regular one in a size large. Every time I try on the cup size ones, they don't fit right and look awful. The large regular ones push me all together and don't have a million hook-and-eyes to do.

I just wear two of the pull over type. That works best for me. I have one sports bra with cups and when I wear it I use a pull on one over it.

I wear the Glory Bra from Athleta, but it only goes up to DD. I have never tried Enell, but have heard lots of good things about them. I have a friend who swears by them. Good luck in your search!
Thank you! I'll maybe take a look at Enell to see what they have to offer. I'm a sucker for bright colors so that's always a plus!

I am a big girl and wear 42DD. I swear by Moving Comfort bras. :worship: The girls do NOT move at all, the bra is comfortable and I even sometimes wear it on work days. Remember you want your running bra to fit pretty snugly to start with.
AWESOME! There is hope! I will definitely take a peak. I just googled and I'm in love with the colors that came up for images. Thanks so much!

I'm so sad/happy that someone else feels my pain. DDD is the same as an F and E I think? Poor us :(. It's nice to know I'm not alone in this search! Are you able to just wear the one larger size and run with no motion? If so what brand is it?!

Hi All! As a NYC princess in training, the last week has been incredibly difficult. I'm so thankful that we had power and water in my par of Brooklyn but I know many who aren't as lucky right now.

Making the best of a bad situation though! My office wants everyone to come in to work this week regardless of down transit so this morning I'm embarking on a bus to train then a 5.5 mile wall/run over te bridge to my office in Midtown! Wish me luck :)

And if there are any princesses in the city who need help, please please reach out if you need anything!

Soo glad you are ok! And you have power and water! We just got power back today, since monday.

::thumbsup2:goodvibes Your blog and video were huge motivators for me to register for the 2013 Princess! Thanks for sharing again.

That's so great! Thanks!

I think I would like for people to cheer me on. When I did my 10k last weekend(I came in 92 out of 109, so most people had finished before me), everyone was kind of milling around and all I could think was "Holy crap, do you people know what I just DID?" as there was little reaction as I got closer to the finish line and crossed it. I mean, yeah, for a lot of the "serious" runners it might be a little less exciting, but I want people to pay attention to me and give me credit lol. Sounds arrogant, since 20k other people will be doing the exact same thing, but hey, I'll still take it.

I totally get that. This is what happened to me Princess 2011. Julie and I started together, but ran separately. It was my first half, ever, and when I crossed the finish line and got my medal, there was some SERIOUS let-down. You are ushered out into the parking lot where tons of people are milling around. I had nobody there I knew, and I wanted to just yell, "Does anyone have ANY idea how HUGE this is for me?!?!" Some other girl and I offered to take a picture of each other with our medals, and that was about it! Big factor in why we decided to run together last year and screw the time! I will say, though, that when you wear your medal in the parks afterwards, you are congratulated by almost every single cast member you see!

Tinkeramy I LOVED the video!! Looks like the two of you had a GREAT time! I was in corral C also! All your pics brought back such fond memories of when my best friend and I were there...2013 will be with my DD15 - hoping for a beautiful mother/daughter bonding race! Thanks again for reminding me why Im training on these cold, darkoserablf

Fun! My oldest son is only 10, but he is very athletic and I could totally see us doing a Disney race together in the future! My running partner is in Dis now with her daughter and I asked her to bring me back some park maps, so that when crappy January weather coincides with the really long runs, I can look at the maps for inspiration of why I am doing this!

That is the third time I've watched that video and I tear up every time I get to the gospel choir part. I'm another one that was inspired to sign up by how much fun you two seemed to have in your blog and the video. Thanks for sharing!

Oh, my gosh - it's 15 times more amazing in person. The music Julie played for the video kind of covers up the choir, but it's so amazing in person! And if you notice, right as we are about to completely pass by, the girl on the end was really cheering enthusiastically and giving me the thumbs up for the Tinkerbell costume! You're so sweet to say such nice things - if there is anything I would want anyone to get from our experience is that it's as fun as you make it. You can stress about sweepers, pace, whatever, OR you can go, whoop it up and make a great life memory.

Thanks to everyone for the input on the cheering-after-the-race thing. I didn't want to come off as pushing it in people's faces that I had finished already and they hadn't. I do remember my first non-Dis half when I was really struggling - I had pushed it way too much in miles 10 & 11 and was pretty crapped out for 12-13. The finisher's area was in a field away from the race path, but there were still a couple of finishers standing along the route cheering and I thought that was so great - they could have been outta there and on the bus back to their car, but instead they were calling us in.

Blew some cashola on running gear today! Finally broke down and got the Garmin Forerunner 10! I have teeny tiny wrists and it seems pretty okay on mine. I also got a double check on my shoes and after confirming the right size and that I'm still okay in my Brooks, I scored a pair of the Ravenna 3's on sale! Woo-hoo! I am way overdue for a new pair of shoes, so I just went ahead and bit the bullet. (And they're pretty.) :rolleyes1

As a DD, I'm a fan of the TaTa-Tamer II from Lululemon. It has always served me well with zero movement all the way through the PHM!

Hi BSKelly.

I feel your pain. I'm a 34DDD (down from a 36DDD/F-G thanks to all this running and some calorie counting). I am with the others that moving comfort is a good bra. They have a zip-front one that you can get quite cheaply from Sierra Trading Post in Medium that is a lot like the Enell, but miles cheaper. I have the medium, and it works, though it was a little squeezy at 36F. Though squeezy is what you want. I was able to buy 36DDs in sports bras, which I was even occasionally able to by at Target (!!!). Sizing down helps with the "hold those girls in so hard they can't go anywhere" strategy.

There are a few other Moving Comfort bras that come in DDD and DD sizes. Juno I think is one of my faves. I've honestly never been unhappy with anything I've gotten from them.

Good luck!

Cate

Amy and Julie, such a sweet video! Thanks for sharing it here. It looks like you two had a blast together, and that running together was tons of fun! I remember both of you from last year's thread, and it's fun to see your video race report!

I agree that words of encouragement are welcome at mile 13. Someone yelled "you're almost there" at mile 3 of my last half. It was clearly a joke, so I just stuck my tongue out at them and laughed. If I'd heard that at mile 11, I might not have been so amused.

Getting excited!

Cate

I have to try everything on because what some brands call DDD others call E and some are F or G. Annoying! I think the ones I like most now are Reebok just from Dick's. Because they are technically too small they hold everything in place perfectly. If that makes sense?

I'm a busty princess (38DD) and I love the selection available at Title Nine. They sort bras by size but also by "barbells" (impact of activity, strength of support) which I find really helpful. Currently, my favorite is the 7 Wonders Support Bra but there are a lot of options, including this Moving Comfort style which is probably my second favorite and the famous Enell that everyone swears by but totally does not work for me.

I like that at Title Nine there are lots of "real stories" and customer reviews -- it can be pricey, but I feel good about shopping there. They have some brick and mortar stores, too, but mostly on the West Coast and Midwest. The return policy is generous, though, so it's worth it to shop online.

Awesome! I worked at lululemon for 2 years and it was the best two years ever. I had to resign temporarily due to health issues, but I WILL be back!

The TaTa Tamer is an AWESOME high support choice. So glad it works for you! Be sure to check out your local store for markdowns on the color TaTa Tamers, sometimes they get marked down :-)

Just arrived in DC for a conference and have some time before it starts, and its a little chilly for the running clothes I brought. Checked yelp...lululemon is around the corner! Ruh roh!

My concern with them is they have cups kind of and only go to DD :(. But some of them are so cute! Maybe if I find somewhere local who sells them, I'd try them on. But I'm hesitant to order from them because I hate the hassle of returning, haha I'm lazy! Thank you so much though for your advice!

That's what I usually do is buy a size smaller. Mostly because I don't have a choice! No where in town sells any bigger than DD. I actually looked at the one I'm currently using... It's a moving comfort. DOY. I'm a doof! I put a champion over the top that is another size smaller. And the moving comfort IS great, I just have girls spillin' out my armpits! Maybe I'll have to order a size bigger online from them and see how it works out :). I'm curious about the zipper one too! I looked it up, and it's super affordable, so thank you so much for that site! It's a huge help.

Wow! Awesome! Thank you so much for all the links, I'm definitely going to check these out. I'm always hesitant to shop online because of my laziness in getting it back in time, but if it's generous I'll give it a shot!

Thanks everyone for all of your help. I greatly appreciate it! These girlies WILL be tamed for the princess run!:cool1:

I've been doing my short runs/walks on pavement (3-4 miles 2x a week), but my long runs/walks (up to 7 miles now) on a trail in a local park (dirt and compacted limestone). I'm mainly doing the long runs at the park to spare my legs from the impact of the pavement and to reduce the risk of injury (I am very injury prone!).

My question is whether I should be doing some of my long runs on pavement to get my legs used to it before the race or if the short runs on pavement are enough to "season" my legs. I really want to get to the Princess without major injuries but I also want to be able to finish it without getting injured during the race (I have a 15K I am hoping to do two weeks later). Any thoughts? Thanks!!

I love my treadmill but...running coach has me getting off the treadmill...gasp!...and running on the pavement for the long runs so my legs/body will be use to the pavement. The closer it gets to the PHM....the less of the treadmill I get to use. For me...I have found in my past two 5K races that I am actually faster on the pavement than on the treadmill and my legs/body felt fine.

I know some HATE the treadmill but since I have a workout room I get to watch TV (Hawaii Five O is GREAT to watch while on the treadmill!)

I would say try a long run on the pavement and see how your legs/body perform. Having just got home from wine and food festival and getting to see the course, it is definitely all pavement.

I just finished my 5 mile run today and felt great. I wasn't sure how it would go as its cold and windy and my 4 mile run was awful. I beat my 4 mile run by a good 5 minutes and finished 5 miles in 53:06. My husband is my motivation and keeps me going and pushes me.

I have to say that I enjoy reading everyone's posts, it's nice to see both the positives and negatives that others are going through. I know I'm not alone.

Stay calm and run on Princesses!!!

Thus is me! Short runs on treadmill (with Hawaii 5-0!) and longer ones on pavement. I also go faster on the pavement.

Le Cellier was our first choice for dinner on race day, but when the ADR window opened up it wasn't available. So, I had booked Ohana. Seeing the comment above about Le Cellier reminded me to check again--- they had availability for the time we wanted!! :yay:

Yay!!! Maybe we'll see ya there!
