The New Lizard Lounge

Hello fellow LLs!

Is anyone else happy the holidays are behind us? Don't laugh - all of my decorations and the tree are down and put away! The kids insist that we leave the outside lights lit until New Year's Day. We put the stuff up way too early and I get tired of it by Christmas. Maybe there's a better way - like Christmas in the islands!

Tammi - I'm so excited for you - the cruise sounds wonderful about now. We went last January - 7-day Eastern - and had a great time. Make sure you share the details when you return. Sounds like you scored at the mall. DD13 and I were at the Mall of America this morning so she could find some new things to wear since she has NOTHING! All I can say is that Abercrombie and Fitch should pay me for shopping in their store. That music has to cause some sort of nerve damage! Your Summer 2006 trip sounds like fun - lots of hopping. You go girl! And leave that camping thing to the others - sounds like some of my family members!

mom_rules - Agree with Tammi about Alana and company. They were great to work with. I only wish our stay had been as wonderful as the planning office was. Now if WDW could just merge the BWI/BC/YC IPO with the GF RPC lounge, it would be a perfect world. LOL

Hockeymom I have heated seats and they are so wonderful up here in the northern climes. Though my DH doesn't like them. We were on our way out to dinner last night - in my vehicle - and about 7 minutes into the ride, he sniffs the air and says, "Does it smell like ham in here?" He really should leave the comedy routine to the professionals! ANyway, here's hoping you get those heaters!

Hope you all have a Happy New Year and that 2005 brings peaceful times, good health, happiness and a Disney trip or two!

Yes, I agree with you all-the IPO gang are the best-worked with them for both our YC and BWI stays this past year-looking forward to trying out the BC.

Tammi-I'm so excited for you-I want to here all about your cruise (we'll be going in March. First timers here and beyond excited!)

Happy Happy Anniversary!! All the best wishes for many many more!!

OH Tammi... thank you so much! Your post totally cheered me up! I think that place in heaven is right next to figureskatemoms.. right? :)

Off to the rink!

Debbie

Yes Debbie, you got that right! Hockey moms, figure skater moms, and anyone who braves the cold (and bad coffee) for their kids.

Debbie Happy Anniversary!
Tammi Have a wonderful time on the cruise. Have a great time at First Night too. My husband has Friday night off for the first time in tears and we were going to go into Boston, but have opted for a neighborhood party. I remember going when my children were younger. We would take the T from Quincy and have a ball.
I can't wait to hear about your cruise.

Please don't take this the wrong way. . .I have been so laughing at myself for the past week or so. When I first saw your siggie pix, I couldn't figure out why your husband was wearing a skirt--I had such a duh moment! After a couple of days viewing it in the posts, I realized it was a jacket tied around his waist! :earboy2: I told you it was a duh moment!

For those of us in the MI area--wasn't it a lovely day--a balmy 40º! At least that four letter word I refuse to utter is melting. . .even if it is ever so slowly! Last week was so bitter! I went to visit my family this past weekend (Dayton area), they had so much snow. Unfortunately, the city wasn't doing a very good job of getting it removed either! They get a piddly little 24 inches of snow and they have no clue how to deal with it! Jeez--they should come for an in service in MI!

Debbie :cool1: ! Happy Anniversary to your and your DH :cloud9: ! Congratulations...quite an accomplishment in this day and age :flower1: :hyper2: !

Have a great cruise, Tammi!

Tess>> It only got up to 35/36 here, but it was still so nice not to here the squeak of the snow, but instead the squish! Yes, everyone, we laugh at the south when they shut down everything for a few inches.... we try not to but can't stop! The only bad thing about the melting is now we see the DIRT that came with it!

Thank you, everyone, for the well wishes! Not everyone gets to go to a hockey practice, sit through an unannounced parents' meeting, then go for bbq sandwiches for dinner! Btw.. they were good! :)

Kerry>> The neighborhood party sounds great! We probably won't go out for NYE, but I think we're planning on making it a theatre/movie weekend and catch all those movies we've been meaning to see.

Still laughing about Tess' comment!
Debbie

Happy Anniversary #1 Hockeymom and I will send some PD your way for those heated seats! I got them in my Volvo and my husband doesn't understand the need for it. I will never go again without them!!!! I am so glad my DD does gymnastics-one word says it all- INSIDE!
Trying to book another vacation. I'm having a hard time deciding where to stay. Whoever said they should put the BC/BWI/YC planners at the GF hit the nail on the head. I will not be going back to the BC for a while. It was very nice, just not the GF for me.
I hope you have a wonderful cruise Tammi. I read your trip report and I was so happy you were able to pull off that surprise. Sounds like it was a great time!
Happy New Year to all of you.

Morning all! As the week wears on I'm feeling the need for an ever-larger capp... :drinking1 I'll be trying to do this from memory so if I forget any mentions, please forgive...

First off, many thanks to Tess for the chuckle -- I SO needed it this week!

#1 hm... Happy Anniversary! I've shared many of those kinds of celebrations myself minus the BBQ, so you DO rate! :smooth:

minniesota... I'd more than welcome any spare clean-up energy you can muster... I usually leave (and enjoy) our decorations till little Christmas but am feeling a bit overwhelmed by the clutter about now...

Lastly, Tammi... No First Night for the Goofys this year, though I must say the weather looks mighty inviting. We'll be going to a kid-friendly party at a friend's house which has become sort of a tradition. I was never much of a party animal on New Year's Eve and have become even less so over time! But I join the others in the lounge who are wishing you all the best on your cruise and even your plans for the "far off family trip" peaked my interest! I'm with you on the resort hopping thing which we plan to do this summer. My DS fell in love with the game room at BWI (anyone know if they enforce it for DVC only during more crowded times?) We are still deciding on our MK resort. We did enjoy the GF but were surprisingly attracted to the Poly on our brief visit there. In fact our Christmas photo card was a hammock shot of the kids with the castle and Space Mountain in the distance (reminder to self about trying to post some photos from that trip). That Hawaii building lagoon view was definitely shouting my name! The WL was beautiful too but since we love to travel without a car, I'm thinking the transportation situation would wear thin for us. Can't believe how nice it was to have easy MK access from the monorail resorts (duh, huh??)

Ahhh! I know where you are coming from-I was both a competitive figure skating mom, and a hockey mom and wife. Really get to appreciate those radiant heaters in the stands!!

Now it's just the hockey thing (It's been tournament week here-we're going to semi-finals tonight yipee!!)

Debbie, Happy 20th. Jerry and I will celebrate our 20th in '07. Should I start planning now? Maybe a Disney cruise for our family? You will love the seat warmers. I use them everyday here in the wintertime. If my 3 children are being loud in the back of the Town & Country, I just flip on the seat warmer and pretend I'm getting a hot stone massage. Pure luxury!

Minniesota, is your husband related to mine? The ham comment cracked me up. I really chocked on my coffee. I love my husband because of his sense of humor. He keeps me laughing.

Tammi, I think you are so smart to camp your way around WDW CLs. That is really roughing it. It will be interesting to see how quickly your other children want to go to the Lounge. After day 1 maybe?

I still can't get GF RPC but I will keep trying. We are going the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. I need 3 nights, but will still be happpy with SL. Our cruise is on RCCL. We have about 50 members of my mother's family going on this cruise. She is one of 12 children and I have 32 cousins. It just keeps snowballing. We're having a get together (food) on New Year's Day , so I will get more info. on Sat. Thanks for all of your help. Enjoy your CRUISE!

Lori

Thank you, everyone, for the well wishes!

Radient heaters.. oh yeah..but you're at (fill in name of our rink). It is a joke among us parents that when you pay for the ice, you don't get heat! The rink isn't all bad... we stay there for the great parents! As any of you sportmoms know, parents matter a lot in a team sport when you have to be there most of the time. Our rink definitely has great parents.

Still no word on the new vehicle. DH seems to think there is a fine line between over miling mine (which is about to happen), to its payoff, to leasing new....I think we're two months on the wrong end of that line! I just keep with my mantra of.. heated seats.. heated seats... *but no hams.. please! LOL*

WOOO HOOOO! Taking the old Explorer into the city to bring home..... da ta DA! Heated seats (on the Eddie Bauer 2005)! We don't really need them today as its 55 and even the sun peaked out for a few seconds, but I know next week I'll be loving these when I get into my car at 6:45am! Thanks, Lizards, the PD worked! :)

Happy New Year!
Debbie

PS... I managed to move that "line" over a few months through begging and pleading and something about a great birthday present!

AWRIGHT Debbie! Congrats on the new wheels. I think the seat heaters are what I miss most about our old Volvo wagon - that and driving home on a snowy afternoon, Christmas tree tied to the luggage rack, with "A Charlie Brown Christmas" on the CD player. It just wasn't the same with the tree in the back of the Highlander!

It's nearly 60 here, so I guess our annual New Year's Day Brunch & ice skating party will be modified somewhat - maybe I'll tell everyone to bring in-line skates if they have them.

DH has agreed to a sort of last minute late Jan., early Feb Disney trip, if I can get a ressie. I planned to treat him to a Disney get-away in February as a Valentine's treat, but he has a big job that will consume most of that month, no flexibility to travel then. I will take any time frame I can get, though - even with our oddly warm temps here, I would much prefer the Florida clime.

Happy New Year everyone!!!

It was 58, the windows were down in the front, but we had on the seat warmers! :) DS and I declared this one the best yet. Funny, he thinks the fake wood trim is the cool part... he obviously didn't grow up in the 60's and 70's, eh?

Inline skate party sounds like a winner! It is nice to get rid of most of the snow!

Happy New Year, everyone! May we all have a safe, happy, and healthy new year, and get to meet more of each other!

Happy New Year Everyone!

Hi to everyone! I am back from warm, balmy, sunny, Rhinelander, Wis :rolleyes1 We had a good time with our family and did not freeze anything too important off. Next time, I'm going to reserve a suite and have everyone fly to WDW for the holidays. Of course I'll have to hit mega bucks or something first. :D

Debbie - Happy Anniversary and Congrats on your new Eddie Bauer with SEAT WARMERS. So glad your DH finally came around and realized the importance of warm bottoms. Seat warmers were a life saver while we were in Wisconsin. ::yes::

Donna - How was your trip with your nephew? We still have our trip planned for the Poly in May. However, I am waiting for AP rates to come out for after April 17th. Anyone have an idea when to expect it?

Notice - I still have my Christmas decorations up. The rule in our house is.....you can leave it up after New Years. Along as it is down by Valentines Day!

Angel

Good morning Angel--last year the APs post 4/17 were released around March 9 (2004). So far, no "general public" codes for the spring have been released either. Those came out around February 22, 2004 last year. There's a "wait" post on Resorts that you might want to attach yourself to so you receive quick notification when (and if) discounted rates are released!

Tess - Thank you for the information. I will get on one of the wait posts. I like your new picture Tess.

Wishing everyone a great first day back at work!

It is :umbrella: here. Big time raining.

Good morning all - stopped in to leave some Green Mountain Southern Pecan coffee out with plenty of fruit and homemade scones.

Angel16, our Dec. trip was good, though the parks were way more crowded than we anticipated, much more so than during the same time frame 2 years ago. Our nephew enjoyed himself tremendously and wore both DH and myself out completely. Each time I've seen or spoken with him since the trip he greets me with, "Anniedonna, Disney World was really fun." This is in place of "hello" "Merry Christmas" or any of the other more usual greetings I expect from the nieces and nephews. The subequent converstion also usually includes a "When can we go again?" We do have a trip planned for Dec. 2005 with his whole family - mom, grandmom, and his three sisters - but DH and I need a grown-ups trip in between!
