The New Lizard Lounge

Floridafam>> I left a big long post, that got eaten by the disboard monster earlier, saying that maybe you should grab a reservation for the 25th onward and salvage some of Christmas. It didn't go through, and I'd revise what I said anyways to.... How about the whole family fly back up to Michigan and spend it together in the snow! Your last post just sounds so ominous, and it sounds like you all need to be together as a family. Please let us know how everything turns out. :grouphugs:

Angel>>Bring lots of hats and mittens! I have a portion of our hockey team out shoveling the front walk.. in girlie boots! LOL I'd take a picture, but I'd like to live! I had to get them out of here and figured that would be a good way to burn off steam before their game tonight. Why do those boys always end up at our house? ack!

Merry Christmas to everyone, and PD to those that need it! ((hugstoall))

Love,
Debbie

Well, AKL is officially off.

DH needs to spend tomorrow packing, buying a suit, etc. I just couldn't go and have him leave less than 24 hours after arriving.

So, I tried to modify the reservation to check-in on Saturday and the CM says "then you'll miss the Safari" which is part of the reason we are going. Plus, he didn't have the FL Res Rate available to add days.

DH will fly back into Orlando on Tues. eve so we are at WL CL from Sat.to Tuesday.

We WILL get to AKL eventually! I just spoke with Sue at AKL IPO and she was WONDERFUL!

Now I can help DH prepare to go to Michigan.

We can't all go because the compassion fare was $400 and I just can't stomach $1,600 in airline tickets right now. I'm just glad DH gets to go and be with his Mom. I think he is staying with his Aunt but I may need to find him a hotel near Wyandotte. He's going to have to spend a lot of extra $ right now that we weren't planning on but everything should be okay.

Thank you all for the prayers and thoughts.

My Grandma was put to rest at Mt. Carmel Cemetary in Wyandotte (where my Grandpa still and always has lived... on Mulberry st across from Pulaski Park.) Last time I went through Wyandotte (hockey game we picked up my Grandpa for so he could see his grandson play!) I will miss that church this Christmas Eve, as many midnight masses were celebrated there. I don't remember any good hotels nearby. I think towards trenton on I75 they had some new hotels/motels.. or you can always just grab near the airport which is a short drive to Wyandotte.
PD to you, DH and your whole family through this time.
Debbie

Floridafam: I am sorry about your DH's grandfather and your change in plans...The AKL trip just does not seem to have been "meant to be"...WL CL sounds wonderful. The AKL will be there for you next time :)
We ret'd yesterday from an absolutely wonderful trip! Disney was beautiful, we had incredible luck with transportation, the Cast Members were exceptional and everything was very beautiful. I was so happy that it was cool/cold. It made it so much more festive!
AKL now has an even BIGGER part of my heart!

Floridafam, I'm so sorry to read about your loss. My grandfather passed away a week before our Disney trip. He was 86 and lived a good long life. My grandmother passed away in 1972 and I lost my mother (his youngest daughter) eight years ago. I know he missed them terribly and it's comforting knowing that they are all together now. There will be another time that is "right" for you to go WDW. It sounds like being together as a family is the most important thing now. You have my blessings and prayers.

Tammi

Floridafam, Sorry about your loss. My mother in law passed away last week. She had been in a nursing home for the last 3 yrs. Not knowing any of us. So sad. She is in a better place. Our DD passed away 9 yrs ago right before Thanksgiving, it has taken me this long to find a little joy in the Christmas season. We are thankful that my DMIL did not get sick while we were in WDW. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you that has had a loss during the Holiday season. :grouphug:

floridafam so sorry about your loss; just go with your instincts and everything will work out. I hope Disney can work some "magic" for you and your family.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I heard from WoodysRoundup. She is fine, very busy preparing for Christmas and the arrival of her baby. She is also having difficulty logging onto the boards lately and doesn't know why.

This is probably my last visit until after Christmas, so keep warm everyone and enjoy the long weekend!

floridafam- I think you did the right thing, even though it was a tough decision. I hope you and your family enjoys the time you do get to spend together at WL. Prayers and PD to you...

To all of my lizard friends! Merry Christmas - and if you don't celebrate Christmas, Happy Holiday to you! It's so cold here right now - we had wind chills of -26 yesterday. Florida sunshine sounds pretty good! I hope you all have a peaceful time with family and friends this weekend and that the magic of the season shines bright for all of you!

floridafam, I so sorry for your family's loss. I can understand your disappointment. The WL was beautiful earlier this month. I hope you and your family have a special vacation.

Lori

floridafam, I am so sorry for your loss. It seems that everything is falling into place, I am glad about that.

To all of my Lizard Lounge friends: Have a very Merry and Blessed Christmas.

Hugs and Kisses,

Thank you, everyone, for the support.

I think we made the right decision. There is no way we would have been able to leave for AKL today. We did manage to go out last night and get DH a new suit and attempted to look for an overcoat-not much luck in Florida.

Sue at AKL was so nice when I called her to tell her we had to cancel.

Have a safe and sound Christmas Eve. :flower1:

Merry Christmas

We are off to Orlando in a while. DH is sad, the kids are sad but we are going to try and relax.

Have a wonderful day!

... A question about BC CL-when we stayed at the YC they mailed a special elevator key for us to use to check in upstairs when we got there. Is it the same at the BC or do concierge guests check in at the front desk like at the BWI?

Taking a quick lounge break and didn't want to let this one slide... Yes, mom_rules, when we went to BC CL in August, we got the 5th floor key through the mail and checked-in upstairs at the CL desk. Hyacinth was as pleasant as can be... :)

floridafam... Thinking of you and your family... my own grandfather passed away on Christmas Eve 16 yrs ago and my own mother has been in the hospital this holiday season. Families, especially the kids, need a little extra "care and feeding" when hard times hit during the holidays. Here's hoping your time at the WL is special...

 Yoo-Hoo, remember me. Got a brandy new lap top today.
Prayers and PD for all who may need it.
Hope all of you had a wonderful Holiday.
Can someone PM me and give me a heads up on what happened. I know its seems dumb, but I missed it all and feel like I need a little understanding on the whole situation. Is our old thread totally gone?
Hope to hear soon!

Goofy's Muse-how far in advance did you receive your key? Did you contact them or did you hear from IPO first? Thanks.

mom_rules... Out trip was booked through a AAA TA so IPO did not have our contact info (not that we knew it)... Goofy actually called the IPO Office at around 120 days out just to inquire about their procedures (got the contact info from the DIS) and they were glad we did! From that point they mailed us a packet (which included "the key", maps, questionnaire on our pre-planning needs, etc) and we exchanged e-mails on a regular basis...

Mom_Rules, you are going to be working with the most incredible group of ladies. I just can't say enough nice things about them. Even when we had the room problem upon arrival, I was able to call Alana and she had it straightened out within minutes. I probably won't book the Yacht Club again, KerryCM has convinced me to try the Boardwalk, but I know they all share the same planners.

I'm days away from our Disney cruise. I went to the mall this morning and I can't believe the sales. I got some new tops and a dressy outfit for dinner at Palo's. I even found a fleece Tinkerbelle top at the Disney store. It's lime green, so I should be easy to spot. It had been marked down from $35 to $9.99. I couldn't have spent more than $60 dollars and I got 4 outfits. Now I just need to pack. We're flying out of Boston on Monday night and thankfully the weather is looking good. We're going to spend the night at the Hyatt in the airport and then trying out Southern Elegance for a ride to the port.

It will be depressing to have no counter when I get home though! We're supposed to be doing a big family trip in the Summer of 2007. For Christmas, I purchased baskets for each of my sisters and filled them up with park maps, lanyards, pins, Disney piggy bank, autograph books and the Passporter planning guide. My sisters haven't been to DisneyWorld in 20 years and they totally don't understand my obsession, but after looking through all the stuff in their baskets, they've decided to try for the Summer of 2006 instead. I think we're looking at potentially 16 people ranging in age from 8 to 42. The only problem is that they are campers. They plan on renting one, driving it from Boston and staying at Fort Wilderness. DH and I plan on flying and staying concierge. This is not going over very well with my oldest DD who thinks that it would be so much fun if we were all together. I've tried to explain that there's a reason why my sisters and I no longer live in the same house and we get along great with only seeing each other once a month. I can't even imagine being in a motor home with that many people, in Florida, in July. That's a recipe for disaster right there. Nope, DD and DS are more than welcome to embrace communal living with their cousins and aunts. DH and I are going to take youngest DD and try our hand at resort hopping. I'm thinking a few days at AKL cl, followed by BWI cl and then perhaps a brief stop at WL cl before finally ending up home, GF RPC. All in all, it will be 2 weeks at Disney. Of course that pretty much means that after this cruise, there won't be any more vacations until the summer of '06. I don't know if I can make it. I'll try to be strong though. I can't even imagine spending 2 weeks in Disney, that will be so awesome.

Goofysmuse what's the Goofy family doing for New Years? We're going into first night. I love the way they do the parade and the family fireworks. We've been doing it for years and even though the kids are older, it's nice being back at home by 9pm. The weather is looking okay and hopefully it will stay cold enough for the ice sculptures this year.

big wave to everyone! Nice to see the goofy's, samnbilly, and momrules, too!

Today is our anniversary.... where will we spend it? I am leaving for the dentist, then coming back, picking up hockey star, and leaving for the hockey rink while DH works late! argh! There could be some great light at the end of the tunnel though. There is a 2005 Eddie Bauer Explorer with my name all over it if I can get out of my lease early! Two words.. HEATED SEATS! I have been begging and begging for heated seats, and somehow DH, who never wears dresses, didn't see the need. I think he finally sees the light!

Have a great night, LL's! Have a champagne toast for me, please, since I will be drinking bad coffee!
Debbie

Debbie, there's a special place in heaven for hockey moms and I'm pretty sure they have heated tile loungers! Like the rest of us mom's, this probably isn't the first anniversary dinner that you've had to wait for. I just hope you don't have to wait too long. Cheers to you and your DH.
