I am planning a trip to the GF in April. It will be 8 nights:goodvibes .... We have a GV room and I was thinking about upgrading the last night to RPC. Would it be worth the extra price for one night? I will be celebrating my 30th b-day so I want to make sure it is a super special trip. This will be our first time at the GF..... 203 days!!!

Since you have never experienced the RPC I say definitely go for it. The service and atmosphere is the best at any concierge or hotel at Disney in my opinion. I would not plan anything major for that day. Check in early and enjoy the hotel and ammenities as much as you can. You can enjoy the lounge even if your room is not ready yet. It would be a great way to end your trip. Plan on spending the evening in the lounge enjoying the food offerings, wine, beer, or coffee and listening to the wonderful orchestra play beneath you. It is so peaceful and relaxing.

I would defiantly do that if it were available. My dad wanted to add a day to our father / daughter trip that is coming up shortly, and this is what we were going to do but there was nothing available at the GF at all. We thought it would have been a great way to end the trip though (well, I did. Dad thinks concierge is  ! Silly dad! )

Can anyone tell me the number for private dining?

And does anyone know if they can do any decorating at the dining location, or would that be someone else?

Thanks!

The GF private dining number is 407-824-2474

If you are staying concierge they MAY do some decorating. It's all at their discretion and if they have the time. I have heard Gifts of a Lifetime does decorating. I don't have any experience with using them, though.

Happy planning!!

Spacec - oh, ya RPC is great. I agree with Minnie My My and Irisbud. Go for it especially since it's your bday. I spent my 40th there and it was the BEST I ever had!!!:wizard:

OK GF experts tell me what you think...
We booked a GV room 40% discount in Feb we are going Sept 20-24 and today we received an email welcoming us to the Sugar Loaf. Is this what I think it is??? If so, how come??

Hi Spacec47 - Having stayed RPC, in my opinion, the upgrade is well worth the cost. Again, in my opinion, I feel to get the true experience of concierge, you need at least a 2 night stay, which would allow time to use the services. If a two night stay is not within your vacation planning, and you choose to stay RPC, devote your last day & night to everything Grand Floridian. Dine at the hotel, relax in the lounge, sit by the pool, and forget the parks and shopping. After all, you will be paying for a RPC upgrade and you should get the most of your dollar upgrade by using the facilities offered at the Grand Floridian.

If you don't decide on RPC, you will still have a wonderful vacation just because you chose the Grand Floridian as your resort. I would review as much information about the GF as you can to decide on which of its offerings you want to experience, and there are many. We have never experienced any problems when staying at the GF. I'm sure your first stay will be magical, and you too will become a repeat visitor like so many of us on this thread have.

Have a wonderful birthday celebration, and a safe trip.

Cinderumbrella,

Regarding the photosession, a couple of questions if you don't mind. Can you tell me if you had any input into the shots/poses or did they just arrange everyone for you? Did you do all group shots or different configurations? Also, can you give us some ideas of the spots/locations around the resort that they used?

We have one booked for next Tuesday (yikes we leave this Friday for our first trip to Disney and stay at GF) and I am trying to get a really good feel for the session.

Each year on vacation we try to do our family photos and so far have been very pleased... so I was happy to hear that you experience went well.

Thanks for taking the time.

Best,

Just bumping b/c I had the same questions. I look forward to your answer if you get a chance. Thanks!!

If so, how come??
If I remember correctly, upgrades to Sugar Loaf were fairly common last year around the same time. I think it was because the resort was slow and they simply closed off a building and upgraded guests. It must be less expensive to do that instead of having a small number spread out across the resort. I imagine that with the rehab going on, plus the fact that they may be experiencing some low occupancy in the fall, that's how come you got sprinkled.

OMG... In 24hrs or so we will be at GF.... WOW...

Ok, I need some more GF tidbits, fun things, whatever you want to share so I can keep my mind off of flying and on the Magicalltime we are going to have!

Thanks!

That's so exciting! I still have 9 more days until check-in time. I have a tip for you. Spend an hour or two at some point during the trip walking through the main building. Walk up the grand staircase and ride the cage elevator. Look at all of the beautiful details like the furniture, the lighting, the woodwork. Soak it all in. It's beautiful.

I need some help and opinions from the GF experts! I know this information is probably in this thread somewhere, but I'm having trouble finding it. So here goes:

1. In your opinion, is the RPC worth the extra money? What benefits do you receive as a concierge guest? Are the rooms any different?

2. What rooms have already been rennovated?

3. Does anyone have pictures of the recently rennovated rooms? I'm curious to see them...people don't seem to be all that fond of them.

DH and I are trying to decide on GF or the Poly. I'm leaning towards the GF, because I like the decor a lot (I know, I know...kind of a silly way to make a decision, but oh well). Thank you in advance for your help! :flower3:

Thanks for all of the advice! I went ahead and changed the final night of our trip to RPC! :dance3: 201 Days.... My DS4 and DD2 are getting so excited.....

Our renovated room pics are on page 381 of this thread. We stayed in Conch Key which was totally renovated as of mid July.

Good Luck decision making on your resort.....I think that is part of the fun!
