Hi everyone,
I have been lurking here for sometime and have enjoyed everyones comments on the GF. I have just booked my trip for March 2008 and I am so excited. I have not been to Disney since 1990 when I was on my honeymoon. Well I am now returning and taking my three year old son for his first visit. I have stuggled with where to stay and have finally decided on the GF. I have booked a Mk view but I am not sure this is the best option, I get confused from reading so many posts. Will I bee guarenteed a MK view? And is it worth the extra $$? Would I be better off requesting a different room type? Please help - Thanks!
I'm bumping this up for you, since it looks like it got lost.
I'm sure others will have an opinion, but it likely comes down to how important the view is to you. A "theme park view" (which is how they categorize the Magic Kingdom view now) will give you some view of the MK park - you could have a clear view of Cinderella Castle, or you could see Space Mountain (or both).
If you're more concerned about proximity to services or something else, then maybe booking that category of room for you wouldn't be the best. Since the MK view is not much cheaper than a concierge room in the Sugar Loaf outer lodge, maybe you would find the complimentary food/beverage offerings, as well as the extra service, of a greater value to you. It just all depends.
I personally probably wouldn't do anything other than GV, or concierge, at the GF. The view is not terribly important to us, so I'd probably either pay more for the food/service of concierge, or go "cheap" with the garden view!
We're at the GF now (5th night). Sorry I haven't had time to post anything.
Sorry your check-in experience was disappointing! I hope the rest of your stay is great!
Serious lurker just back from a spur of the moment getaway with my husband. We had 3 nights in a garden suite at BWI topped off with a night at the Grand Floridian. We have resisted the GF because my husband thought it was too frou frou for him. Well, our one night stay in a garden view room was upgraded to a stay in RPC and he is sold. We walked most of the property and he said he couldn't imagine a room he wouldn't be happy with. The GF is just soooo peaceful. The staff could not have been friendlier, not just the concierge staff, but everyone was exceptional.
What a great upgrade!!! Congrats on converting another!
When I called to schedule GF photopass shoot - CM mentioned that the colors Navy Blue, White and/or Black worked best.
I had purchased matching red shirts as it is Christmas time, but am now thinking that we should possibly wear white tops and navy bottoms or something like that?
Anyone do the GF photopass shoot in other colors? Pictures to share? Any other ideas for best color combination to match decor of the GF and surroundings right after Thanksgiving?
Thanks for any tips you may have to share!
Doing the 4 week dance...
Mike, I'll be doing a photo shoot with my family in just a little over a month. I'm thinking with a lot of the colors in the lobby and on the Christmas tree being more mauves and dark sage greens that maybe the CM was right to suggest those colors. For our group, I was thinking of white/black (just from an ease perspective), and I could see how red
might clash with the GF holiday decor. Just my two cents, though.
Did you have any problems booking? What time are you doing? Did they give any indications as to the locations they'd be shooting?
