You need to check out this thread! On the first page are all the phone numbers you might need. There are also photos. I am planning to order the slipper dessert for my daughter and her friend. I think it will be incredibly festive :wizard: Since you're not interested in that dessert, perhaps one of the smaller cakes. One things they serve at the Tea is the precious puff pastry swans with fruit or white chocolate mousse (I think). Maybe they could make a plate of goodies for you and write Happy Birthday on the plate in icing. This thread has lots of great photos, too! Good luck~

BTW, I enjoyed your dining reviews and made a reservation for Roy's in Orlando, since you spoke so highly of the restaurant. We were looking for a change..

You will love Roy's! It's our favorite restaurant here, next to V&A's. Thank you again for all the suggestions; what I'm doing is contacting the manager of the GF, along with the GF concierge managers. We will see if they have any alternate suggestions. I really don't know why we keep giving them these changes; I think that we are just gluttons for punishment. Anyway, I told them in my letter that, if they can do something amazing to correct all these errors, then they can keep our business. If not, I've had it - for what we spend at the GF, we can do a really nice vacation somewhere that really wants our money.

Sorry to keep venting; I feel like an emotional wreck! I really, truly loved going to the GF and vacationing at WDW. I think it's because they are such an escape from reality; we just got back from a trip to NYC, and that was very much in-your-face reality - reminded us why we moved away :) Anyway, we're looking into the Biltmore, which is ironic, since we just moved here from Charlotte. And we're looking into Charleston, as well, since my best friend from college honeymooned there & does her anniversary there every year - she highly recommends it.

Thank you again!

As a side question, I noticed another thread about turn down and it said only club level received this automatically. I thought all of the GF did as a matter of course. Does anyone know for sure? This is definitely something I want!

When we were there in August, we stayed RPC, and they didn't do turndown automatically. We were very surprised at this the first night, since they used to do it, but the concierge staff told us that we had to call specially if we wanted turndown service. Surprising...

Cheers!

Savannah, GA is quite romantic and has wonderful restaurants and lovely B&Bs also! We're debating Charleston, Savannah, NYC, or the Biltmore for my 40th b'day!

I had to comment on this, as I, too, found it so very surprising! We were in RPC this past Christmas time, and got turndown without asking. We stayed in Conch Key in March of this year, and we had turndown each day - I'm pretty sure it was automatic that trip, as well, neither my DD nor I remember making a call to ask for it. How very odd that you were told it had to be requested in RPC!

**BTW - I'm very sorry to hear about your difficulties in booking your anniversary trip. That is so disheartening for you, I'm sure, and I hope you end up with a fantastic trip, wherever you decide to book.

Our recent experiences with turndown:
Sept/Oct-RPC: had to call
January: Conch Key...turndown each night without a call
May:Sugar Loaf...turndown each night without a call

One night when we were in RPC and called, a young CM in the traditonal dress of a GF mousekeeper appeared after the call and remarked in apparent surprise that it hadn't been done. She then left without doing anything. Sometime later an older lady came and did the work. She was not a happy camper.

If I were to venture a guess it would be that there was a young CM in RPC late summer early fall who wasn't doing her job.

I love all of those places! I think Savannah is very romantic; we love having Bloody Marys for breakfast at Huey's and walking along the river. I actually prefer Savannah to Charleston by a smidge.

Does anyone have the contact info for GF's conceirge handy? I was going to try emailing them and seeing if they could organize my ADRs for me..i've been trying to call the reg. # and am on hold forever..which is tough when I'm at work..oopsie :)
thanks!

Does anyone have info on when rooms will be refurbished? I notice GF furniture all over Ebay. I really liked the old decor so I hope they go all out for the GF.:goodvibes

We are all (im)patiently waiting to see some pictures of the rooms that are being refurbished as we speak!

I am feeling bittersweet about the whole thing as we have decided, for budgeting reasons, to change our December stay to the WL. I know, not a bad compromise! But it does save us a lot of money. However, we will be back on at the GF in 2008, so as soon as those rates come out, we are all over it!

Now, to our spies in the field, bring on those pictures! :)

Can you either post the link or PM the link for this furniture to me?

THANKS!

If you go on e-bay, you can simply do a search for Grand Floridian and you'll see it all listed, or go to the e-bay store, Kingdomsurplus. They're the ones who seem to be handling the liquidation.

We (myself and my new bride) will be Disneymooning starting on 7/16. If we see the "new and improved" we will get and post pics at some point

Heather, I just wanted to pop in and tell you that I hope you hear back from the GF powers-that-be soon - and that they step up to the plate. It would be terrible for you to walk away with a bad feeling about the place that was once so magical for you. :sad1: Best wishes! I hope they spread some pixie dust your way.

Well, 5 days after my original email I still have not received a response from the GF IPO :sad2: I just don't think this is acceptable, considering I've always received a response from the BWI IPO within 24 hours, certainly no more than 48 hours.

Unfortunately I have not received a response to my email from Sunday either. I tried calling because I wanted to schedule Golf lessons for my husband and I know they fill up quickly but no luck with the phone either.

I think I spoke too soon by saying IPO was getting better.:sad2:

ClareH37: You should try resending the email, maybe it got lost? I have emailed several times and usually got a response by the next day. It was always someone named Calvin answering my emails, so now I put in the subject line: Attn: Calvin.

I think I'll try resending and see what happens.

Lyn - let's hope we both get responses.

We experienced the same frustration a few months ago. It seems that Calvin is the only person who handles e-mail. He was out for a couple of days and the mailbox filled up and was actually rejecting messages!

Just keep trying, and you'll get through.
