Balcony and seating area off the 4th floor where you can watch the fireworks

From csaribay

There's a large viewing balcony just off the Grand Canyon Concourse, with the accompanying music played softly over the speakers. You can access it on the north end of the concourse, just beyond Fantasia. There'll be two doors leading outside, and there are some benches out on the balcony.

Alternatively, you can actually use the tower access stairs and watch from up there.

In terms of the Monorail and the walkway to the Magic Kingdom, that solves any problems going to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. To arrive at Epcot you take the Monorail to the TTC and then go over to the Epcot Monorail. As for Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom and Downtown Disney the buses that go there also share with the Polynesian and Grand Floridian, so you will also be sharing bus service with guests from those Resorts. However the Contemporary is where the buses will always stop at 1st, so you will have the best chance to get seats.

Hmm... didn't realize that about the bus service being shared. Can you share your experiences on how long it usually takes to get to AK from CR? We will spend the majority of our time at the MK so this isn't a big deal, but just wondering. We stayed at the All Stars last trip and the buses there are just very difficult to deal with.

Newly refurbished Lobby

This orange area is supposed to eventually be the permanent home of the Contemporary Grounds. There seems to be no timetable on it, but was told that the plan is to be a full-blown coffeehouse. I had already been told by a manager that they planned to have an oven (I thought a small one) to make cinnamon buns and such, so we'll see!

Update: 2/11/08 Joffreys is planning a real coffee bar (like a small Starbucks type) in the lobby, but I don't know if there is a date set for construction.

The last time I went to the Animal Kingdom in the morning the Contemporary shared bus service with only the Wilderness Lodge. Sometimes that will happen in the mornings, but in the afternoon's the Contemporary will go back to sharing with the Polynesian and Grand Floridian. I would say it took about 20 minutes total because the bus did not spend to much time at the Contemporary and the Wilderness Lodge, in terms of waiting for any extra guests running to catch the bus.

Thanks so much! I think no matter what the bus at the CR has to be better than the All Stars were. We just can't wait to walk to the MK too!!!!

Thanks again!

I was just wondering when Chef Mickey's Express opens up later this year, do you think they will have those kiosks like they have at Captin Cook's in the Polynesian where you order all your main food items? My thinking is since Captin Cook's went threw that major renovation would that be something they are willing to try at Chef Mickey's Express, since it would be a brand new location.

Kelley, they will close the Concourse Steak House in May (some have said June) and start on CME. Then the 4th floor should be done. It should all be finished by December when you arrive.

OMG!
I just booked our September stay at the contemporary!! I have always wanted to stay here but could never afford it in my past trips! I am soo excited. The cast member gave me a great package deal with dining and 7 park hopper tickets (2 adult, 2 kids) MK tower view (requested 11th floor)...all for 3400.00! Thats a savings of 500.00....I was waiting for the free dining promo but now I dont have to since it will be included in this package!

Im sooo excited.
I will be checking this thread often.:cool1:

Congragulations. :thumbsup2

Thank you!
Question-- I read that they are closing the concourse steak house...do you know why, or what will replace it?? and when will the renovations/refurb be done?

Concourse Steak House will be replaced by Chef Mickey's Express Counter Service to replace the old Food and Fun Center. The Wave Restaurant (Table Service, Asian Theme) will go on the 1st floor wher F&FC was. The Arcade also moved to the 4th floor. Right now it is all scheduled to be done by August, but I think it may be a bit longer. Please see the first post for very detailed info on all the renovations at the CR and the construction time-line. It has tons of good info and links to pictures.

BTW, has anyone told you that you look like Vanna White?

Thanks triplfigs! I will definitly go back and check out the first post. I am so new to CR that I have absolutly no idea about anything. Im just glad I talked my husband, sister and BIL into upgrading from a MOD to THIS deluxe!:goodvibes

No, no one has ever said I looked like Vanna White LOL, guess I will have to ask my husband what he thinks about that.;)

You're going to LOVE the CR. We've stayed at the GF, Poly, and CR, and the CR is our favorite. This trip, we're doing a split stay with the Beach Club too so my triplets can swim at Storm Along Bay.
