Thanks for posting the pics. Now I know what to expect. Looks like the walk will be a bit farther than normal to the main pool. Just head for the marina and then make a right, correct?

Is there an extra charge for CR guests to use the fitness center? I understand there is a weight room, steam room, etc., correct? Also, are there showers/locker rooms at the fitness center? I'm considering an early morning workout while the fam sleeps in and don't want to wake them by coming in and showering after. Thanks!

nice pic of the pool area - thank you.

other than the area around the slide/whirlpool that still needs to be landscaped & completed, there is only one other area that appears to be "under renovation". in the above pic, to the right of the pool, you can see a fenced-in section with a large circular area dug out. i wonder if this could be the kids fountain/splash zone area we've heard rumors about. looks like SOMETHING is being done to that area - it couldn't be another whirlpool, could it?

btw - the cabanas look nice

So, is the pool slide open? :confused3 Can't tell from the photos...

Yes, the pool, slide, and "built-in" whirlpool re-opened last week (3/17?). The separate whirlpool is still under construction/rehab.

Thanks for that answer! I'll be there on Thursday, and it's looking to be HOT! It'll be nice to have the pool, slide, and at least one hot tub open.

It's 100% free for the Contemporary guests to use the fitness center and so all you do is sign in, list the time you arrive and what resort your staying at. I am pretty sure there are also showers and locker rooms, although I am not 100% sure about that.

There are two small locker rooms with shower (one for men, one for women), and a shared unisex dry sauna. Serviceable, but nothing like a full-service spa facility.

what are the height/age restrictions for the water slide? My daughter will be 4 when we go and will probably be about 42" (we're going in November). Do you think she'll be able to go on it?

I have not seen any signs about hight restriction for the water slide and I have seen kids around your daughters age going on it. Although I guess the best thing you can do is ask the lifeguards and they can say if she should go on it or not.

Just to let everyone know. I just got off the phone with WDW recreation at (407) WDW-PLAY. Today is the first day they are taking reservations for the cabanas. The rates are $100 for a half day (either 10am - 2pm or 3pm - 7pm) or $185 all day. Prices are higher than the Grand Floridian which I understand are $60 half day and $110 full day.

:scared1:

I'm shocked that they think they can charge that, especially since (IMO) the cabanas are not nearly as nicely furnished as the ones at the GF.

Wonder if the GF ones are going to increase soon ... that was the rumor a while back.

I haven't seen the ones at GF but the CM told me that they basically have the same amenities, TV, ipod player, DVD, fridge, fruit basket, room for 6, etc. I was shocked by the price and it is definately a lot more money that I was planning on paying but I reserved anyway. It's our rest day during the week after Easter and figure the kids (and me and my DW) will need a break. If I get cold feet can always cancel with 24hrs notice.

Do they charge you upfront for it? Or do you pay when you arrive?

You guarantee it with a CC. You are only charged if you use it or if you no show.

I'm not saying the cabanas at the CR don't look nice -- they do! :) -- but the ones at the GF just look like they're better suited for a pool day with kids, as far as having the table, sofa, etc. and not just chaises. YMMV! :thumbsup2

I wonder if the prices are higher due it being a holiday time? There seems to be a surcharge on everything else.

According to the link, they are only $110 for a full day, or $60 for half a day. :confused3
