I am posting this partly as a warning, and partly in a state of confusion.
I decided to do Rosa Mexicano for breakfast. I went back and forth between the buffet and the Churro Waffles. But, as I wasn't particularly hungry, I went for the Churro waffles. Which, to be honest, that was the way I was leaning anyway.
I had seen multiple videos on these Churro waffles. Multiple videos, multiple articles. They were cinnamon-crusted, mini waffles, served with Mexican chocolate, strawberry sauce, and whipped cream. Even the menu itself says waffleS, plural.
So, I ordered the Churro waffles. I was so beyond excited. Imagine my vast disappointment, when what was brought to me was a single round waffle. Not crusted....it was dusted with a cinnamon sugar, but certainly not crusted at all. So, I asked the server, as I was certain there was some sort of misunderstanding. She told me that no.....I could have Mickey waffles, which would be regular waffles. Or churro waffles, which is what I got, the round waffle they gave me.
Let me first and foremost say.....the waffle itself was good. It was cooked pretty perfectly. Light and fluffy. But, not something I would go out of my way for. It was served with Mexican chocolate and whipped cream. No strawberry sauce.
So....while the breakfast was perfectly fine....the whole situation just niggled in the back of my mind. On my way out, I saw a manager standing near the host stand, and I asked her. In fact, I even showed her an ACTUAL photo of the Rosa Mexicano Churro Waffles that I pulled up from online. An actual photo. So, I said..."Do you not do this anymore?" And she is like, "Oh yes, of course we do." So, I told her, well I ordered the Churro Waffles, and it was just a single waffle. Her reply? "Oh! Well, the churro waffle is just one waffle. These are just the regular Mickey waffles." Folks, they were not. They were Churro Waffles. Not only because the person who posted it SAID they were Churro waffles.....but you could see they were crusted in cinnamon sugar.
I walked out of there feeling very confused, disappointed, and kind of...well....like I was being gaslit.
Has anyone gotten the Churro Waffles recently? I mean....I suppose if there was a change, okay, I get it. But, I would have thought people would have posted about it. OR that the employees would have said, "Oh yes, we used to do it this other way, but now we do this instead."
