The *NEW* Coronado Springs FAQ Thread

I just returned from CSR (less than one week ago :( ). I really liked this resort, but my only complaint was its not themed enough. I didn't feel like I was staying in Disney at times.
But other than that, the resort was nice, spacious, clean and quiet. We stayed in 8B of the cabanas, got all our room requests (king size, waterview, Cabana). Our view was gorgeous. We were on the second floor and had a great view of the Casitas and El Centro across the lake.
Buses were never a problem and I was too tired after a full day to walk to the food court for drinks, so we just hit up the drink machine in our building.

> my only complaint was its not themed enough. I didn't feel like I was staying in Disney at times.

Really? That surprises me - I -loved- the theming of Coronado even more than Dixie Landings, which was my previous Moderate of choice. I loved how depending on where you were, you had different "feeling" parts of the resorts - the Cabanas were tropical, with the white sand beaches and palms, while the Ranchos are more arid, deserty but very pretty. I thought the Coronado pool was one of the best-themed pools on property - we liked it much better than the Dixie/POR pools too. The view of the lake at night, with the lights sparkling across the water -- and El Centro, with all its Spanish tile, fountain, architecture had us swooning. To each his/her own, I guess :)

Oh, I didn't mean theming as far as being true to each section's geographical influence, just the lack of Disney. I had heard that it was less "Disney oriented" than other resorts, but then again, I've only been to All Star Movies and POFQ, so I guess that's where I get all the animated influence!
I still liked CSR too and so did my boyfriend since he's "Disneyed out." PHOOWEY ON HIM!

Ahh, I understand! Yes, it's nowhere near the over-the-top theming of the All Stars! I like pretending I'm somewhere exotic/tropical though, and being able to flop down on a beach hammock after a long day in the parks definitely helped me keep up that illusion :)

does anyone know if 5 yr olds wearing a life jacket can go on the water slide at csr - she doesn't swim well but would enjoy the water slide

am leaving in 27 days for our first trip - any suggestions on last minute items/things to do would alos be appreciated

thanks
cindy

I don't know if you can wear a lifejacket on the slide - our DD was 6 when we stayed there, and she was a so-so swimmer -- she loved the slide and did it without a lifejacket, and me or Dad waited near the bottom to "catch" her when she splashed down. That might be an option, and it's not far at all to the edge of the pool from the splash-down area.

From reading this thread I undrestand that Cabanas 9B is close to the pool, El Entro and the bus stop. Is there a Casitas building that also meets these criteria? I will have 2 boys, 9 and 5 with me, who will want to be close to the Dig Site, but I like the look of the Casitas.

Thanks for your help.

Casita 1 is a good location due to proximity to Bus Stop # 1 and El Centro. It is only about a 6-7 minute walk to the Dig Site.

When DH and I stayed at CSR a few weeks ago, we did not have DS with us. We did notice not as many families and kids at this resort, so maye that could lead to it not feeling as "disney" as other resorts. I saw this as a huge plus!!! It didn't feel at all crowded. I have a ressie for WL for Thanksgiving, but I just can't wait tostay at CSR again. It was like getting a deluxe (minus balconies) at a mod price!

I have to add, however, that the resort was soooo kid-friendly. I kept commenting to my DH (and he to me) that DS would LOVE this place - the pool/playground area had it all!!!!! We were thinking about the BC for May 2004- but I may just want to go back to CSR!!!

We just got back from CSR today. Gosh I miss it already. The Pepper Market was FABULOUS as usual!

I do want to ask if anyone has ever had a problem in the main pool. My friend's DS age 9 got fiberglass splinters in his foot on the slide last Wednesday then Friday cut his other foot on something in the bottom of the pool. We reported both incidents to the CMs at Guest Services but wondered if his feet were just jinxed!

Countdown to JUNE for our next stay at CSR! Hope our mugs will still be valid then. :bounce: :Pinkbounc

"pick up the paper, put it in the bag...." Bump Bump

ENOUGH!!! lol

I came looking for a thread on CSR and sure enough I found one (thanks to tinkerbelle_325 for starting it and everyone elses imput!)

So, I think that I have learned the following (PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong!)

If I want to stay in the middle of things, I should stay in Cabanas (9B or 9A) this is a short walk to the Dig and to the El Centro (is this correct?) It is not the favorite as far as themes go ( I saw the pictures and feel they are bright, but they look nice!)

If I want to be close to the Dig Site but far from El Centro then I want to stay in Ranchos (which looks FABULOUS!) Oh this also has a "quiet pool" too, correct??

If I want to be close to El Centro but far from the Dig Site, then Casitas would be my choice!

All are extremely nice and all have their perks as far as location and theming so it will be a tough choice, but maybe you guys could help out with my decision just a bit more, please...

Tell me a little more about the buses and the bus stops. Does one bus (for each destination) stop at each section (i.e. cabanas, casitas, or ranchos) or does it stop at all three? I am trying to figure out if the buses are going to be crowded and if they stop at all three, which section do they stop at first? Also, how is the transportation, did anyone find getting back to the resort at night too crowded, lines too long, etc...???

I can't thank you guys enough because if I had any doubts about this resort before, I sure don't now! My kids chose it due to the pool, I was thinking of POFQ, but thank goodness I decided to listen to them, this resort seems like it's the "hidden mickey" if you ask me! lol

Oh one more thing, GREAT web site links you guys provided too! You guys are WONDERFUL!

OOPS FORGOT, Does anyone have a link to a GOOD size resort map? I can only find ones that are tiny and blurry.

Hi LoriZH,

We stayed in Casistas #3 in December. I did not know at the time I could have requested another building but we were very happy where we stayed. We had a very nice view of the lake and a small fountain in the courtyard. We had a short walk to El Centro and bus stop #1. We loved the place so much that we are going back in November. We unfortunately were not able to use the pool then, my DD had an ear infection on the day we landed so swimming was out of the question.

As for the buses, when the buses come to pick up the start at Bus Stop #1 and go around to the other stops, four in all. Each bus that comes is for the different parks and for downtown Disney. The buses come fairly quick, we never had to wait more than 10 minutes for the bus we wanted. The returning buses start at Bus Stop #2 and end at Bus Stop #1. We never encountered a lot of people on the buses when we went but I guess it depends on the time of year you go. The only thing we did not know at the time when we went to other resorts you could not get a bus back to your resort, you either had to go to a park or to downtown Disney and catch the bus from there.

I am not sure if anyone has a map that you could see better. When you check in they give you a map of the resort and the layout. I know when you scan things it does not show up very well.

Here is a link you can try to see if you can see the resort and some information about CSR from Deb's All Ears.

Thanks for the info! Now, I wish I could get a resort map that I could see so I can make my final decision, lol

I am really looking forward to staying at this resort I cannot wait! We are not going until next May (dh wanted to take a couple of years off, so we did) You're going to have to let me know how the pool was in Novemeber (that is a GREAT time to go!)

Thanks again, oh and one more thing....I noticed you are a Bon Jovi Fan, did you see them at the Fleetcenter recently?? I was there AND I just got back from their show in Buffalo, NY (OH YEAH THEY ROCKED!) I don't understand how Jon KEEPS getting better and better with age, it's amazing oh and yes they are coming back to Boston this summer, I just got an email for the presale  :teeth:

LoriZH

if you click on my CSR website below, you will find a resort map on the left side with the pictures. It is the last one.

LoriZH ------ if you haven't already figured this out (it took me a little bit to do so) when you go to Buzz's website and you click on the map link, if it shows up small click off of the map and onto the white part then go down to the bottom of the map (I think on the right) and click on it a little box with arrows will appear if you click on this box it will make the map larger.

I hope this makes sense. I was having the same problem as you until somehow I figured this out.

I love your site, wonderful pictures! I did however find a larger map (my eyes are too bad, lol) here is the link...

I believe this is Epcotfan's site, there is a map there that is really big!

Thanks again! Keep the great info coming!
