The *NEW* Coronado Springs FAQ Thread

We celebrated our 25th anniversary at CSR on Memorial Day weekend.
It is now our favorite moderate Disney resort!

We were disappointed with the 1st room we were given.
It was in Casitas 4, on the top floor, overlooking a roof and the "quiet" pool. We were right around the corner from the elevator. At 4:00 am there was a security guard out by the elevator talking on his walkie-talkie. It sounded like he was in the room with us!
I called to speak to a manager at 7:00. Her name is Renee and she couldn't have been nicer! :)
I simply stated that we would prefer a quieter room and she moved us to a Junior Suite in Casitas 1. We were in the new room by 7:30 am!
It was really nice having all that space, and we each had our own bathroom!

We loved the location of Casitas 1.
If it rains, you can walk to El Centro without getting wet, I believe the same goes for Casitas 2. Although it only rained for a very short time during our stay, and we napped through it.

The buildings and grounds are gorgeous.
We had dinner in the Maya Grill. It wasn't great but it was okay.
It was nice to get drinks and sit out by the lake at night.

We didn't spend a lot of time at the resort, I hope we do relax there more next time.

I highly recommend CSR to everyone... singles, old married folks like us, and families.
We have our Christmas week planned at The Boardwalk Villas (renting points from a DVC owner) but I am hoping to plan a Coronado Springs weekend soon!

Thanks to everyone for the great web sites and information about this resort!

Thanks so much for your resort review! My husband and I will be at CSR for the first time in a couple of weeks (woo hoo!) and I really enjoyed your review.

No, not the TV show, but at Coronado Springs. When I was there we stayed in the Ranchos and it was nice. Close to the the hot tub and big pool and away from the more crowded central area. Christmas at CSR. :D The room was steps away from the buses to whisk us away and back again. The week before Xmas we walked on to the attractions with hardly a wait in line at all.

I reserved us as a honeymoon couple and the front desk wanted to upgrade us for free to a fancier room beginning the 2nd night, but why break the spell? I mean, what's the difference: wherever you go, there you are! I think we also got some other stuff free just for being on our honeymoon and telling them that. In my opinion, WDW and CSR are not just for kids. :Pinkbounc Although it does help to be young at heart. :p

Great thread, tink and epcotfan and susy and buzz and all.

This may be a repeat question, but I couldn't find the answer. Can adults go down the slide at the Dig Site?

Pam

Pam -
Absolutely can adults go down the Dig Site Slide. Actually, I saw more adults going down it than I did kids. The only people that were having problems going down were the parents who wanted to slide together with their child. You aren't allowed to go down 2 at a time. Have fun!

Does anyone know if there is a height restriction for the slide at the dig site? I have a petite 4 yo???

I don't think there is a height restriction. Can they swim? The water is 3.5 or 4 ft deep there. You can't double up on the slide but you can wear a life jacket that yo can get at the pool.

thank you buzz2001 for the info..he will have to wear a life vest...SO they have them available at the pool for rent???? or should we cring ours from home..we will be there 9/6-9/13.. :bounce: :bounce:

I will be at CSR towards the end of June for a convention....:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:
I'm curious what the workout/gym facilities are like and what the deal is....I'm assuming it's "extra".
I've been very faithful to a workout program and although I know I'll deviate some while on vacation, would prefer not to abandon it all together!!
TIA

I wanted to thank everyone for all the wonderful information on this thread.

We just got back from WDW on 6/5/03. We spent 3 days at CSR prior to our 7 day cruise and then 5 days at All Star Sport post cruise. At both resorts we were treated as VIP's. Our cards were different then others, had upgrades at both places and were greeted by the manager Welcoming Us Back as guests.

At CSR, we were placed in Casitas 3 in a waterview room (the upgrade), there was a gift in our room, and we had turn down service every night. There were terry bathrobes for us to use. Not sure if that is normally there as I didn't see it mentioned before. The entire feel of the resort is more deluxe than moderate even without the extras. We loved the food court and didn't mind the 10% add on for the extra service. It is nice in Casitas 3 as you can also walk to El Centro without getting wet. Bus service was good. We have now stayed in all the moderates and this won wins hands down. This will always be my first choice when staying in a moderate.

I had tried to get CSR post cruise, but unable to get the AP rates for my time frame. I thought it would be a let down staying at All Star after CSR, but with the upgraded location we had at All Stars (it was the most perfect location) we didn't mind All Stars. However, All Stars doesn't even come close in comparsion to CSR. So hopefully, all my future trips we will be staying at CSR.

Thanks again for all the wonderful information about the resort.

Nancy

I believe we were given the upgrades because we were returning guests to WDW. This must be a new promotion that WDW is doing for us frequent flyers to WDW. Especially since it happened to me both times.

Otherwise, it is hit and miss if you get an upgrade. Of course, they are always willing to upgrade you for a price.

Nancy

That's interesting about the upgrade thing, this will be my 14th trip to Disney, i think its the 12th on site trip or something like that. Anyways, we've stayed at CSR 6 times now.

We can't really get an upgrade unless its to a suite because we have a waterview room already. I didn't know there was turndown service at CSR so that's a cool new thing I learned.

We'll see if I get any upgrades :)

I think it depends on many things. Time of year, how crowded the resort is, conventions.

Just back from CSR. I loved the resort, however did not have terry robes or turn down service. I already had a waterview room, so was not upgraded either. I wonder why some get it and some don't. I have never stayed at CSR before, but have stayed at other resorts. On another note, my birthday was not recognized at all by the resort. I did not expect them to do anything, however, it would have been nice for the CM who checked us in to have said "Happy Birthday."

Thanks to all for the informative posts and links.

Our family just booked 6 std rooms, mostly staying Dec 11th thru 17th 6 nights, some are staying 4 nights.
About 20 people total. Ages ranging from 18 months to 73. (Hope they get the crib to the room on time!)
We've requested Casitas 2 or 3 to be close to food and buses.

The only hitch is discounts. Some of the group have never been to Disney or stayed on site and are balking at the $148 a night. If none are offered, we may look to cancel and stay at one of the Downtown Disney hotels. Or if Caribbean and Riverside offer a discount we may go there. We want to stay at the same place.

We booked through yourmagicaljourneys.com so they will be watching and applying any new discounts. Hope so! ( Would love for the Fairytale to be extended )

Couple of questions.
1. I've read that the pools are heated. Both quiet and dig site?
2. What are peoples thoughts of weather in December? Will it be warm enough to swim?
3. I know the parks are slower the week before Christmas, does this hold true for conventions at CSR?

Thanks again for the responses. This thread is very helpful.

Peace
G4L
