I'm a little confused... We tried today to switch from a Pirate room to a room with 2 queen beds and the Travel Agent said that she was told that those rooms won't be completed until January? Has anyone else had this problem?:santa:

They are not available for booking yet. Some of them are finished and being used, but you can not actually book a 2 queen room until they are finished/close to finished the entire resort.

She's kind of right, in a round about way. Disney isn't advertising that the CBR has queen beds yet but we on the Dis know that there are some buildings that have them already. You could have your travel agent change your booking from a pirate room to a standard room and request a refurbed room. Whether or not you were assigned to a refurbed room would be luck of the draw until all of the villages are completed.

**Edited to ask: When is your trip?

December 12-18 :)

December 12-18 :)

There's a possibility that they may be on the village of Martinique by that time. Half of Martinique is standard and half is preferred. Or, at the very least, they will have all of Jamaica, Aruba and Barbados complete by that time. They are working on Aruba now and it's taking about two months to complete a village. So, your likelihood of getting a refurbed standard room in December would be pretty high.

Guess this isn't a question that has ever been considered?? Will they store hubby's laptop -- we can't afford to leave it in the room. It is our livelihood. Hate to ask twice but i really need to know how we can handle this rather unusual situation.:confused3

Yes, they will store your laptop in the safe at the Custom House. Simply ask when you check in and they'll let you know how it works.:thumbsup2

I check this link for any events.

https://www.espnwwos.com/events/#view=calendar

Then if there's an event going on during a specific time frame, I then check that particular groups website for the details of where their package has them staying.

Thank you! Great link! What a relief that there isn't something until the day we leave. Were at All Star Music during a cheer competition and dealt with some VERY rowdy teens keeping us awake during the night.

I just called and spoke to a CM @ CBR and he said that no guests are using the upgraded rooms at this point??? Something smells fishy here...

When you call the line, even if you think you are talking to the "front desk" or "CBR direct line", you are really talking to a customer service rep that is located somewhere totally different - normally even a different state. All they can do is check their official internal information. You get much more reliable information from people on these boards that are actually at CBR.

When we took the Keys to the Kingdom tour, one of the questions that was asked of the tour guide (who had worked in various WDW departments) was "where are we calling when we are trying to book a Walt Disney World vacation?". Her answer was that most call centers are in Orlando or the surrounding area. Like AmyKat said, you really aren't calling WDW when you call the Disney Travel line. Unfortunately, most CMs aren't up to date on what's going on at "the world". I was told that there was absolutely no construction going on at the CBR during our travel dates. I knew this was incorrect because someone on the Dis had reported staying there and seeing the construction. I called again a day before we left and was told the same thing. Guess what? When we arrived, the refurb in Jamaica was underway which didn't surprise me since I already heard it on these boards.

what is the significance of this? I would love to decorate our room- is it just because??

Just because! It's fun! I made some posters for ours and my moms rooms. The characters are our MDE icons! (not sure why the lines showed up on the poster, but they aren't there on the printed one :) :artist:

Please don't think I meant anyone on the board was fishy, I appreciate all of the help I get! I called the # listed for the actual resort do I thought I was speaking to one there...

I'm not AmyKat but I also saw and responded to your post and I absolutely didn't think that you were saying a Diser was fishy. Just thinking that something fishy was going on that Disney couldn't tell you the correct info. :thumbsup2

We just got back last week. We had a new room in the Jamaica section. I had paid for a preferred room but was able to switch to a new room with queen beds at check in. It wasn't a problem at all. I just asked. They actually have me a credit because I was going from the preferred room to water view room. I got a new room and saved some money. I would love to post pics of our room but can't figure out how. The new rooms really are beautiful and worth asking for. Parts of Aruba are new and being used as well . Just ask at check in. Have a magical time!!! °o°

Thanks for the mini-review! It's good to hear that they worked with you and you saved some money. That's always a plus in my book. :thumbsup2 I can hardly wait until it's time for us to go back to our beloved CBR. Do you have a photobucket account? If so, you can upload the pictures to photobucket and then post them here. If you'd like to email them to me and let me post them, that would be okay too. Just send a private message and I'll pass along my email address.
