I requested the Magnolia Bend area and was wondering which building is a good location. I was thinking of Oak Manor. My DH is a smoker and they seem to have alot of DSA's around that building.

I am so excited. I just booked my family of 5 at POR. We have been DVC members for years, but had to sell because of a layoff. DH is back to work now thankfully. It has been such a long and trying 6 months. I told hubby we need to plan a cheap vacation. Anywhere !!! I never thought Disney was even possible. I homeschool. So when free dining was offered during Homeschool week, we jumped on it. Value season, event tickets and free dining !!! :cool1:

I have to say I read the whole POR thread.
Andre has done such a nice job. I also looked at Andre's site. Now I am just wondering if I should request a building or not.

Anyway, I just wanted to say Hi

 Ana! You're going to have so much fun planning! Some of the AB blgs are quite far from the main bldg, so you might want to consider requesting blgs that would work for you... 18 & 27 are very nice bldgs as well as 14, but 14 is requested most often. 15 really is not bad either. But be sure to look at the map, enjoy Andre's site and go with what you're family might enjoy most. Then see what you are assigned at check-in. (If it is bldg very far, just ask if they might have something closer - you may have to ask the to please check as some CM's will simply say nothing else is available without even looking.)

I'm a little concerned on the bus transportation. It seems like the buses are always crowded (picking up at POFQ 1st and then POR). We stayed at ASMU last year and had no trouble with transportation and thats a Value Resort. Talk me down I think I'm getting PTS (pre-trip stress).

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. I will see if I can request building 14 or 15.

Ana - I can relate to your excitement! We are all so very excited to be going to POR for the 1st time at the end of April.

Twinglemum - Only THREE DAYS!!! You lucky duck! Please post to this thread when you get back to let us know how you enjoyed it, your room location/preferences, crowd levels, weather, how well all 5 of you fit in the room, if you used the pool(s), etc.

Best wishes for a great trip full of great memories of Disney!!

C.D.

You are the coolest parents ever! :thumbsup2

I'm actually thinking of surprising my kids with our fall FD trip, as we will have just been in July & they probably won't assume anything for a long time after that... just gotta hope that a grandmother doesn't spill the beans!

Have a great trip!

No beaches at POR. It's very rustic Panhandle/Bayou on one side and old Southern Style Mansions on the other. :)

Hey, everybody! (Hi, Dr. Nick...okay, I'm done!) We just booked plane tickets to go to Disney for 5 nights, August 20-25. We are definitely staying at POR but just haven't booked our room yet. When we do (next couple of days), which area/building in Mansions would put us closest to the first bus stop? We are not keen to standing up on a bus at 8:00 am before running around a park all day, so we want to make sure we get on at the first POR bus stop.
Thanks!

The closest building for the South (main) bus depot is actually Alligator Bayou #14. Of the mansions, Oak and Parterre are about evenly spaced for accessing the bridge which take you over to the main buildings, but you'd need to get a room the correct side of the mansion building as they are quite large (see map in first posting of this thread).

I'll be there at the same time as you.

Andre

Hello!
We are staying at POR for our first trip at the end of April. We are bringing a car and plan on using it to get around for the most part. Should I request a room near a parking lot? Or are the parking lots close enough that it's not necessary? We are a family of 5 so we will be in AB right?
