There was no discernible pattern to how the buses picked up - it was all over the place.

Glad you had a good time. AB 14 is a wonderful place to stay, it's my favourite too. Did you request it, and/or use online checkin?

The bus service is a regular query with POR, but as you've observed it's hard to give people any sort of definitive answer as the precise routes change depending on demand. They also use a computerised GPS-based tracking system to help route the buses, so often the drivers can't even give you a consistent answer until they've received their instructions.

Erm, I count four of you, but that could just be my brain playing up... :) Put in a request for AB if you want the trundle bed, but be aware it's not guaranteed. There's online checkin of course, but no one really knows if this will work any better for requests or not. I'd suggest calling the resort in the morning before you fly and ask to speak to the front desk/room allocators (ask specifically; all incoming calls are picked up by a generic call centre first).Andre

Oh, sorry to be confusing. My husband will be arriving separately from work. Since we truly are a party of 5, will the trundle bed be guaranteed for us?

Thank you for your answers to all of my questions. You have been most helpful. :)

Hi all!

Just 7 weeks to go, I'm getting really excited now!

I'm starting to plan our evenings so have been on "Bob's" website to see what nights he performs in the lounge at POR. It says 8pm - 12 midnight, but doesn't mention which days - does anyone know?

Thanks!

Bob plays Wed-Sun and just returned recently from surgery (I think something to do w/ his heart). Hoping to see him down there in a few days!:cool1:

Not necessarily. There was a post on here a few months ago from someone who was really angry. They were a family of five, so assumed they'd be in the Alligator Bayou section with a trundle bed. Instead they were given a room in the mansions and the resort brought a roll away bed in. I was at PORS in early Sept and I know the thread was posted just before I left for my trip, so this occurred sometime in August, I guess.

Well, I would be okay with that. I would be fine with a roll-away at any of the hotels, but they supposedly are not allowed to do that. It would mean that we could actually stay at the WL or CS, which we are not allowed to book as a family of 5. I'll be happy where ever they put us. Just don't make us pay for two rooms! :)

Thanks!

"Ye Haa" Bob plays at the River Roost Lounge from around 8.30pm to midnight, Wednesday-Saturday normally. He will be returning after a month recuperating from back surgery this Wednesday (18th March). Give him a great big "Yeeee Haaaaaaa" from us! He's also on Facebook if you want to follow him (yes, it is him not a fake).

I suspect they only do it at the POR mansions to allow for cases where they have had to accommodate a party of five in the Magnolia Bend section. It's not an ideal solution to be honest, as the "roll-away" beds are wheeled fold-up types and they take up quite a bit of space even when they are folded up - whereas the Alligator Bayou "trundle" beds simply slide away under the main bed and take up no floor space at all during the day.

With five people I'd push for an Alligator Bayou room if you possibly can - and calling in the morning on your arrival day would probably be your safest option. Explain that you won't be arriving until quite late and you'd like them to ensure that you are allocated an AB location from the pool of rooms that are due to be vacated during the day. You may need to speak to a supervisor or room allocator to do this though, as the front desk CMs generally only seem able (or willing?) to check the current Ready Room status.

Andre

Just wanted to add my 2 cents about the roll-away - we did not mind it in either our FQ or CBR room. It fit nicely behind the door. At FQ housekeeping would make it and fold up everyday, but at CBR they made it up, but did not fold it.

Oddly, even though CBR rooms are a bit larger, it fit better in the FQ room. Possibly because CBR had a connecting door, not a wall - perhaps that changed the wall enough that the bed did not fit flush and stuck out a bit by the door, so we could not open the door fully.

Good luck and I'm sure you'll have a great stay!

Hi,Andre ~ since calls go to a call center, not directly to the front desk, perhaps they can only access currently available rooms? My friend works in the call center answering "front desk" for resorts and they do not put guests through easily. Even calling from the room reaches the call center, not the front desk. I so dislike this system from the room. Once a guest is in their room they should be able to reach the front desk directly. We have been put through a couple of times, prior to arrival, but it was for medical reasons concerning room assignment.

No, Front Desk CMs also seem to have this problem - they just see the pool of currently available 'Ready Rooms' on their DPMS screen. As you say, it's not easy to get past the call centre anyway - and it's very annoying when calling from a resort room. Just say that you think your toddler is running around the hotel lobby with a marker pen and a paintbrush, can they walk around and look for him. :)

What specific drinks do they have for refillable mugs in the food court? Do they have lemonade - is it regular or lite? Hi-C flavor? Any juices? My 3 year old doesn't do pop?
Thanks

We leave for POR in 5 days and I am so excited to visit this beautiful looking resort for the first time. I requested a room in Alligator Bayou because of its location. When I did on-line check-in there was a place to note special requests, but close to transportation or food court was not one of them. I'm wondering since we are a party of 2 will we be put in the mansions? From what I've read there are a lot of rooms that sleep 5 in the AB section. Are they all for larger parties? Also about how long after we arrive at the resort should I expect our luggage to be delivered and do they deliver it straight to the room?
Thanks-

Hello!!! We arrive in 7 days and will be staying in Alligator Bayou. Can't answer your question about the Mansions or AB because we are a family of five and always stay in AB. Just wanted to say hello, and maybe you'll hear us coming... I have 3 VERY EXCITED daughters. On Sunday we found out that the lady who my MIL(79 w/ alzheimers) was going to stay with is sick and went to stay with family and cannot take her in!!! Was going to have to cancel 11 days out. Girls were CRUSHED!!! My BIL stepped up and agreed to have her stay with him for half a week and then she is off to stay with her other dear friend. Not sure what I would do without them. I really need a break and this the best news yet!!! (just found out last night, after we told the kids trip was off).

DH and I went in Dec and we got an AB room with a trundle and it was just the two of us. I would say it would depend on how full the resort is.
