The Never Ending Pre-Trip Report Nov. 11 and New Year's '12!!! - TR LINK! 1/15 Pg33

Hmm. I sure as heck couldn't do it. Go down with a carry on maybe... maybe. But definitely not coming back. Will you do laundry? I believe it can be done (though not by me!) so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say yes, you can do it! Hahahaha

I'll do laundry if I have to. Thanks for the vote of confidence! I did a test run today with a carryon that I have right now and it worked so far!

Yes going with a carry on and having no checked baggage is unheard of and crazy! :lmao:

I really hope you can do it but am afraid my prediction is that it isn't going to happen! You may prove me wrong but I agree with your brother on this one!

:lmao: Trust me, the idea of me being able to do this is crazy. But I really want to do it!

Hey there! I'm sitting in the Contemporary waiting for dbf to pick me up and took a minute to check the boards. Great planso far and LOVE the pirate room!

I hope you're having a great time! :goodvibes

Wow, it looks like I'm a little late to this party but count me in from here. I've read all of your other trip reports and really enjoyed them. So sorry your plans had to change but it does seem like you are making the best of a bad situation. Only a few weeks to go! I love your new luggage but there is no way I could only take one bag. I'm an over packer for sure. Good luck with that. My husband would be so proud .

No worries about being late!

I'm glad that I've been able to get this to work out. I'm always an overpacker, trust me! I just want to break the mold today. :lmao:

Haha, good luck with that!!! A weekend I could maybe get away with just that but for a whole week, there's no way!! I guess maybe if you plan a trip to Walmart to get toiletry items that would save some space?? Happy packing haha. I'll have more bags for my one night stay than you'll have for a whole week!

That would be too funny if you had more bags for one night than I would for a whole week! I'm turning over a new leaf ya'll!

Alrighty then! Let's move on to our day two itinerary, shall we?

This day, Megan and I will be visiting.....

BTW, the Yeti will still be coming along...

Likely we'll hit all of the majors here.

Everest

Dinosaur

The Safari (hopefully minus all of the Brazilians in the picture).

Then, who knows!

I would like to eat lunch at Restaurantasaurus. The veggie sub that I got from there last time was very very yummy. :goodvibes

Then maybe we'll stop and see a show or two.

Up Next: Danielle is completely alone! :scared1:

I think it can be done with just a carry-on, but it will be tricky. We did just carry-on for our August 2010 trip, but that was only for a weekend! I think there are two tricky things:

1.) The weather. If you have a fairly consistent forecast, it will be easier. If you have hot/cold/rain variation, there's a lot more to pack.

2.) Toiletries. I would have a difficult time bringing some things (like a week's worth of sunscreen, for instance) without a checked bag. But, if you can find ones that are small enough to all fit into your quart baggie, go for it! I suppose you can always buy things once you get there, if need be.

Good luck!

Plans sound good so far. I think the solo time will be awesome! I like the idea of wandering the World on your own and doing whatever you feel like!

You're definitely right about the weather being a factor. I'm obviously willing to change my gameplan if the weather takes a turn and isn't consistent. I would definitely not attempt a carry on for my New Year's trip.

I got everything I need for toiletries fit into the quart bag. I actually bought travel size sunscreen. I also figured that if I needed to, since we have a car, we can run out and grab anything we might need.

Great AK plans! Yay on the yeti still coming! :cool1:

I know! He's a member of the family, so you know.....

Yay for AK!!! I was there today...no Brazilians!!! :) I don't think I've eaten at Rest. since the McD's left haha. I'm off to check out the menu and plan my meal :)

You know, I hadn't eaten there before either, but we ended up there in July because it was an indoor option. We all really liked it, so I was happy with it. I liked the veggie sub because it came with sweet potato fries. :goodvibes

Back again - good luck with using just the carry on! I took just a carry on this trip, and it was TOUGH!!! I did learn that medical liquids are different from "regular" liquids, and that if you have liquid medicines, saline solution, asthma inhalers, etc. that there is no limit on those and you can just put them in a seperate bag (you do have to take them out like you would your regular liquids and put them in a bin at the airport to be examined). Also, I learned that deodorant and lotion aren't considered liquids - I carried two hand lotions through in my purse and not a word was said to me! All this being said, I was so happy for my Eagle Creek packing folders and my packing cubes - I managed to get everything I needed and more in that carry on. But boy it was heavy!

We overpacked for our Ft. Myers trip too, so we're heading to USPS on Friday to ship our heaviest stuff back home - trying to avoid that outrageous "overweight" fee.

I think you can do it - just takes some planning!!

That's interesting to know about the medical liquids and such. I wear contacts, so that would help with the saline solution for sure. I've had a trial run and everything seems to be working. I think it will help me out in terms of making sure I don't spend too much money on things.

LOL, that's funny that you are going with just a carry on, I was thinking I'd REALLY like to attempt that the next time I go! Can't wait to see how it works out for you!:thumbsup2

Looks like you and Megan have a fun day planned at AK! I am learning to really like AK more and more with each visit! :)

I think it just makes things easier to just have a carryon. Plus, since I'm going to be by myself on the way out, I won't have to worry about waiting for luggage and can just go straight to the car rental place.

Animal Kingdom was never my favorite either, but I agree I like it more and more. It's just a pretty place to hang out.

So alone. I will be so alone on this day. But that's okay! Chris was going to see if he could switch a shift and his flight to come down Sunday night, but alas, it didn't work out. So instead, I'll have a day to myself. What to do?!

Honestly, I think I'm going to relax. Because I know for a FACT that once Chris arrives, relaxing will NOT be a possibility.

Objective 1: Sleep in.

That's right, you heard me. I never sleep in at WDW. But I think I'm going to on this day!

Objective 2: Visit the pool if the weather permits.

Pool4.jpg

Even if I don't go in the water, I think I'm going to relax, snooze, read, etc. It will be nice to just do that.

Objective 3: Visit DTD.

Most likely to buy some....

CIMG3284.jpg

Objective 4: EOS

Yummy....

DSCN1198.jpg

Objective 5: Ghirardelli

Extra yummy.....

CIMG3709.jpg

I have to leave WDW around 9:30pm to get Chris at the airport by 10:30pm. I figured I would get there a little bit early just in case the plane lands early.

Up next: Harry Potter!!!

Yep - I packed my saline solution seperate and it was very helpful. I just put it in another ziploc; I told them (at O'Hare) that I had a "medical liquid" bag and they just said "put it in the bin ma'am". I'd also packed Advil cold & sinus and Hall's with the liquid center, as well as my contact case and extra contacts (in case I lost one or I needed a new one for some reason).

You can do it!

Thanks! That was very helpful. I looked into it on the TSA website just to see what I could separate out.

Looks like a good alone day to me! That Ghirardelli concoction looks amazing. I am so craving ice cream and chocolate right now...
