My 3 boys at MK today

While everyone is showering I thought this would be a good time to give my AKL report.

I think AKL is a beautiful resort. It's the perfect place if you're looking to slow down, relax, and enjoy the animals. I am impressed with the club lounge, and the food and drink offerings. We have really enjoyed watching the animals from our balcony, and we've taken tons of pics. This resort is great for families and also for adult travelers. The down side is I don't feel it's a good fit for people who might be park commandos, or folks trying to cram in a lot of park time. This is due to the slower pace of things, the longer bus rides, and the long walks from the rooms. It takes about 4 or 5 minutes just to get from our room to the central part of the resort. This is a lot different than most other club levels where you can more easily access snacks and drinks. You lose the feeling of a club "level" because the rooms aren't on the same floor and they're mixed with other non-CL guests. This is not a make or break fact, but it is something to take into consideration.

All in all I would stay here again, but I think 3 days tops. Once you've seen the animals, enjoyed the cuisine and culture, you might feel ready to move onto another resort where you can be more in the middle of the action. That's the reason we always love the Epcot resorts, it's great to be so close things.

AKL is my personal all-time favorite but I think this is GREAT advice and very well said

Mine too.. But I am the kind that likes to hang at the resort since we are there so often.. We spent a week there last June and a whole day by the pool!

I'll tell you something I LOVE about AKL, the removable shower head with multi speed and function! I think this is the only time we've ever had one at WDW that I can remember.

The Jedi Mickey dinner tonight was great! The character interaction was phenominal, if your kids like Star Wars this is a must do! We were visited by all of them at least 2 times each. They joked around and did lots of silly poses. We had a later dinner so the restaurant was really clearing out by the time we finished. That gave us even more character time.

I agree on the Epcot resorts. I have found since the kids have gotten older they love the option of walking to 2 parks and always having something to see or do around the Boardwalk area. I love it too
I HAVE TO ASK! where did you get your son's 'Murica shirt? My hubby would flip over it!
Hope the transition to YC is easy peasy and painless tomorrow.

Thankfully we found a Best Buy not too far away so I could buy a replacement! And this time I got the protection plan!

That 'Murica shirt came from American Eagle, so did the "Stay Classy" one.

Just checked in to YC CL! Our room is ready and it is EXACTLY what I asked for!!! Daybed and stormalong bay view!!!!

They just started offering a "Welcome drink" two days ago, which is a delicious strawberry champagne. Yummmmmm

Also in the lounge they now offer a juice blend called the Captain's Stormalong Punch. Non alcoholic blend. Daily from 11:00-4:00.

I'm following along with interest -- thanks for posting. We have not tried AKL CL yet and it's on my radar....but my holdbacks are (1) the resort location (2) the rooms, and (3) as you said, CL rooms being somewhat blended in with regular rooms. We like a dedicated CL area/floor/building. In any event, back to your live trip -- enjoy!!
