The mug debate continues....

My kids drink Sprite and lemonade, sometimes. Enough to make the mugs worth it. They still drink a lot of milk, though. So it's a mixture of sippy cups with milk and mugs with Sprite for them.

Let's try and see if we can go more than 2 pages before someone starts attacking another poster about mugs.

It would be the start of WWIII if I made my kids share one mug.

"he got more than me"
"i wanted juice not soda"
"i don't want his backwash" :crazy2: :scared:

Ok..I deleted the next sentence.

We bought one mug and shared at CSR. I think we re filled it twice so it wasnt a good buy for us. We share drinks every where else, Disney was no different.

Edited to add that we bought the $20 mug at CSR, its 64 oz. I love it since we've been home. At the gas station we go to the offer 49 cent refills in any cup you bring in. I get that thing filled with iced tea about 4 times a day :)

Reply to the "does the design hold up well" question. My mugs have held up pretty well. We put back our ASMusic mugs since they were our first and we wanted to keep them fresh. Our Movies mugs I use all the time. I don't let them soak in dish water since I think this will loosen the paint, but I don't worry about tossing them in the top shelf of the dishwasher sometimes. Usually I do handwash without scrubbing the design. These are over 2 years old. I've not had problems with any of the screen printing on the mugs or souveir popcorn buckets scratching or wearing. Honestly, using these at home just makes me feel happy and they are great to carry out to the deck in the summer.

I haven't done the refillable mug thing. I'm going to keep this light and this post is not intended to make waves. It's even sadder that I'd have to write such a thing in the first place. I think with one family using one mug is a personal choice. You know how much you drink and if you feel the tiniest bit guilty about only using one mug then you should buy more mugs as that would be an indicator you're probably going beyond what the program was designed for. We're not a family that shares because of the germ factor. My DS still gets crumbs in his drink and it totally grosses me out, but to each his own. I wouldn't flame anyone for it because some families feel they are all connected and maybe little Susie & Johnnie have learned not to back wash in their drink. I have friends that share with their kids (yep, my stomach rolls each time I see it). I feel the program was designed as a convenience and budget factor for families. I'm sure they make up for the drinks in other areas such as food/beverages/merchandise at resorts/parks and rooms rates. I wouldn't feel bad for not purchasing a mug for a little one. The little ones can't possibly suck down that much drink to warrant the cost of a whole mug to themselves? I like the idea of buying the mug for the adult - pour it in your kiddo's sippy cup. No harm, no foul. Maybe Disney should consider a child's mug offer.

Yes, all resorts have the mugs.

to add flame to the mug debates: in the resort rooms, you are given the styrofoam cups (at least in the moderates & deluxes from what I've seen) They look exactly like the cups that are used in the food court.

If one was to use those cups from the room and fill it at the beverage station or have one person fill up their refillable mug and pour it into those cups from the room, who's the wiser? No one will know you did it, no one will care, and I hardly think the CMs are going to go around and demand a receipt each time you fill up your little cups from the room. Just a thought to ponder.

I don't know if you got charged for it when you got your room bill, but those mugs cost the same as what you'd buy at the food court counter. It's just billed to your room. Bully for you if you weren't charged for it when you paid for your room, but there is most certainly a cost associated with them. Maybe they forgot to charge you for it. Who knows. I sort of liked this option myself, though. I just took the shrink wrap off the ones in our BC room and used them the rest of the week. It saved me having to pull the room key out to charge it at the food court counter. But I still paid the piper at checkout.

Now I could be wrong, but I believe they are talking about the little water glasses that the resorts provide in your bathroom, no?

I'm not talking about the refillable mugs that are placed in your room. I'm talking about the little styrofoam cups for coffee. Each room gets like 2 of them.

Ummm. Those don't look ANYTHING like the refillable mugs you use at the food court.

If you're talking about using the little plain styrofoam cups from the room at the food court, how can you look at yourself in the mirror? That's just plain old theft by deception. Goodness, pay for the refill mugs and use them!

That's what I thought!! I guess using that philosophy, you could pocket toys at the gift shops and if a CM didn't catch you, hey, no harm, no foul. Honestly, Ooogieboogie, that's a pretty feeble attempt to fire up the thread! :rotfl:

I've never seen those. We've always just had water glasses and ceramic coffee mugs. :confused3

Hey, no matter. Just take one of them down and fill it up with beer from the resort bar's tap. If no one sees you doing it, you're home free! I'm sure the water glasses look the same as the pint glasses in the bar.

:sad2:

{Sarcasm not aimed at you Gepetto}

It just never fails to happen. You have someone come and ask a very legitimate question about the mugs. Then you have some very helpful DISers give some useful advice about the specific question asked.

Then along comes someone and makes a statement that has nothing do to with the orginial question and everything to do with "scamming". :sad2:

And you wonder why these threads get heated and end up getting closed.

Why even bring the glass down...way too conspicuous!! I just sit at the bar and when the bartender turns his back...I stick my mouth on the tap and suck away!!! It's the perfect fix after a long day in the park!! :rotfl:
