The mug debate continues....

It just never fails to happen. You have someone come and ask a very legitimate question about the mugs. Then you have some very helpful DISers give some useful advice about the specific question asked.

Then along comes someone and makes a statement that has nothing do to with the orginial question and everything to do with "scamming". :sad2:

And you wonder why these threads get heated and end up getting closed.

Exactly!!

Why even bring the glass down...way too conspicuous!! I just sit at the bar and when the bartender turns his back...I stick my mouth on the tap and suck away!!! It's the perfect fix after a long day in the park!! :rotfl:

Good idea! I'll have to consider this next time. But I'll still bring the coffee mug with me, so I can stop by the food court and grab some free coffee to sober up after all that illicit beer chugging. :rotfl2:

I don't think Ooogie was being serious or offered his opinion as a realistic option. It's obvious that he's just goofing around and watching how everyone responds!! He's been on the boards long enough to know what pushes people's buttons.

Ummm. Those don't look ANYTHING like the refillable mugs you use at the food court.

If you're talking about using the little plain styrofoam cups from the room at the food court, how can you look at yourself in the mirror? That's just plain old theft by deception. Goodness, pay for the refill mugs and use them!

I just put the thought out there. Like I said, I buy the mugs when we stay at a resort, but conceivably someone could buy a mug, take the little cups from their room and fill up their mugs to then fill up their cups. Or use the cups from the room instead of buying a mug. The little styrofoam cups in the room look exactly like the little cups at the food court if you buy coffee from the food court.

That's what I thought!! I guess using that philosophy, you could pocket toys at the gift shops and if a CM didn't catch you, hey, no harm, no foul. Honestly, Ooogieboogie, that's a pretty feeble attempt to fire up the thread! :rotfl:

Hey, you guys wanted a mug debate like the title says... I'm just trying to fan the flames a little! :rotfl: Made you look, didn't I? :teeth:

That can probably be appreciated by those that would recognize that. But thousands of people read these forums and never post. They will take the suggestion seriously. Oh well I don't use the mugs anymore anyway and when Disney stops the practice, we can all have a good laugh about why they did it. :flower:

What if milk comes from a dispenser in one of the Food Courts? Can you fill your mug with any beverage that comes out of a dispenser?

I think milk only comes in cartons at the resorts. Anyone care to back me up?

milk comes in cartons/bottles. Any beverage that are part of the beverage station is refillable - soda, lemonade, coffee, tea, water. Some places have apple juice and some places have frozen cokes/cherry. Depends. Never seen milk from a dispenser though at the resorts.

I thought I read somewhere that at ASmo there was milk from a dispenser (for coffee). There was also apple juice too. Any All Star Movie goers that can verify this??

I'm staying offsite. Will I get caught if I take a wrapped mug off the maid's cart at the YC and use it while I'm pool hopping?

Disney isn't going to end the mug program anytime soon. They are fully aware of the abuse that goes on. What people don't realize is the purpose of the mugs is to get you to keep coming back to those food courts and buying $7 cheeseburgs ,$6.50 chicken strips, and $2.79 Mickey rice krispy treats. As a food service manager, I'd be willing to give away 'free' soda all day long if I could command those prices. Like many other aspects of Disney marketing, it's all about making you a captive audience. Once somebody forks over $12 for a refillable mug, that preety much gurantees they'll be making mutiple trips to the food court; and odds show that on some of those refill trips patrons will be making puchases (at a tremendous mark up) that they didn't plan on. Besides, even with all the abuse, I'm sure the mug program still shows a tidy profit. They're charging $12 for a 12 ounce mug that probably costs them around a dollar.

I've never seen those. We've always just had water glasses and ceramic coffee mugs. :confused3

I've usually found both ceramic and foam cups in my room, and glas glasses for water.

THere is milk at the coffee station, but it is not for refilling mugs...it is for whitening coffee. What people choose to do with it, however, is a personal choice.

Good answer!

By the way, just came back today after a little trip to Niagara Falls Canada...I would trade what we paid for food for WDW food prices ANY DAY!

Exactly!

Add to that, most restaurants pay more for the cup than what is actually filling it. Drink syrup is cheap.
