The Most Expensive Free Trip Ever - TR Link is Up! Pg. 164

Hi Glennbo123, I just came across your PTR and I really love your style, I need to check out your TR, too, just seemed easier to start with the PTR! :goodvibes

I love your tiny spreadsheets and stuff, I do the same and try to condense as much information as possible in really small form to take it to the parks with me! :thumbsup2

I hope you won't mind, but I really wanted to comment something Tribilín wrote:

I just wanted to give you a heads up that even if you are not from the US you don't need to use a travel agent in your home country. I am from Germany and I haven't booked any of my past trips through a German travel agent. This would have made things much more expensive! :scared1: I just use one of the specialised internet-based travel agents (like Dreams Unlimited who sponsor the DIS) to book everything WDW concerned and then get a flight from one of the cheap ticket sites here in Germany (or even directly from the airline). I could always make all my payments with my German credit card without problems. The great thing about using a travel agent like Dreams Unlimited (there are others out there as well) is that they keep trying to rebook your vacation if deals come out. And you have someone to go to with any question and you don't have to call Disney direct. I really can recommend this! :thumbsup2

Well that's the first I've heard tha, er, I mean, Oh yeah, I get that all the time. :cool2::laughing:

I think (hope) you'll enjoy the TR. Go ahead and comment-away on it, otherwise it'll soon have to be moved to the "completed" section.

And, .....:welcome:

Kind of like studying for a test, I'm not sure if it's preparing it that helps (researching stuff, looking at maps, menus, times, attractions, etc.) or actually have the papers with you. Probably some of both. Anyway, it seems to work for me.

Did you catch that Tribilín? Let us know if you find that the internet-based travel agents that Flossbolna mentions could save you money. Others may interested to hear.

imback and all caught up, great deal on the tickets, even if you they went down for outbound the next day.

Thanks Flossbolna, sounds like a great idea, I checked with Dreams Unlimited and they can provide me with the pricing with no obligation, that way I would be able to compare with any local travel agency (their packages have fixed pricing anyway) and then decide for the best price.

And of course I'll let you all know how that went... in a few months ;)

Thanks again!

They went down the next morning and back up by evening. :confused3

How as jury drudgery? Did you bag 'im and tag 'im, nail 'im and jail 'im, derail and impale 'im?

i'd be interested too, being overseas, as well. Let us know!

I'll get on Tribilín's case, er I mean, I'll encourage Tribilín.

Thanks for the report Mr. T. You now have to book a WDW vacation, as a service to all international DISers. ;)

I guess you have booked your trips through Disney direct so far? The change for you wouldn't be so big I think - it is more of a question of using a Mexican (as in Tribilín's case) or German (in my case) TA or going with a US based one. But the great thing I like about it is: I have one personal contact to get in touch with via email if I have a question regarding my reservation, I don't have to call a call center in the US, speaking a foreign language etc.

Also, Dreams Unlimited will keep checking if any discount codes come out and rebook your reservation. So there is no need of searching around for those and then worry about changing your reservation yourself.

I hope they will be able to get you a good price. Of course booking in US-Dollars will mean a bit of a currency exchange rate risk. I have no idea how much your exchange rate varies, but for me the Euro has been going up and down and if I had made payments at better times, I would have been able to save a bit of money. But I am still doing better than booking through a fixed price package holiday from a German travel agency. Also I was able to shop around for the best fare for my flight!

Keep in mind that in the last year Disney came out with one discount or another for I think every week of the year! Even high season. :scared1: So even if Dreams Unlimited can only quote you rack rate, there is a chance that the price will improve if you get closer to your trip... I hope it works out for your!! :goodvibes

I'll be on the lookout for your jury duty update.

Thanks for the info. Flossbolna. I know it is appreciated by the non-US DISers. :thumbsup2

Hijacking your PTR again glennbo123... sorry!

Believe me, this is the subject that sends chills down my spine... in my last trip I charged $1,500 US Dlls to my credit card just shopping around WDW (I like to bring souvenirs to whole family ), when I came back I went and paid in it full, leaving my debt in zeros... then 2 weeks later the dollar went up (against the mexican peso) almost 50%... I barely made it :rolleyes1

This next trip, I'll do it the other way around, I'll use a debit card (with a allotted budget) for all my shopping, credit cards no more.... really... I swear! Cross my heart! :rotfl:

It won't make a lot of difference. Every travel agency I know sells the Disney packages in US dollars  So it will be the time I decide to put down the money and forget about the subject (don't really want to know if the exchange rate gets better after I paid).

The only extra thing to consider is that one travel agency is inside a major department store, several times a year they go on sale (including the travel agency), giving more than 20 months to pay without interest and give back up to 20% in "monedero electrónico" that is money to buy in the same store (only)... so it could be a good contender.

We will see... :surfweb:

Kinda like checking airfares after you've booked. (Which reminds me, I haven't looked today. Yet.) :rolleyes1

After you make a decision you never look back. For some reason the price always seems to go down after I purchase something.

At least on Southwest you can re-book and get a credit voucher that can be used on another ticket up to a year in the future.

Great airfare!:thumbsup2

I love southwest, it's what I usually fly if I can. I like being able to pick my seat..then i give the evil eye to anyone who looks like they want to sit next to me.;)

for once, I can't blame it on MIL.....unless I get really creative.

 there are quite a few stories I could tell about Grandma and her lack of undies.

:rotfl2: There is never a dull moment with Winkers part of your PTR/TR. :rotfl: Winkers, is your back any better? I know just what your going through. Is it slipped disc's or just one of those fluke things?
popcorn:: Would love to hear more stories about Grandma.
I'll be sure to use your tactics for my next trip with the seat thing Winkers, I like your style! :thumbsup2 I was just telling John-DH this weekend I didn't want to fly with anyone else. They always have the best times and rates for what I'm wanting when it comes to going to WDW. I can get there early in the day on our first day and leave late on the last day in the World.

She brings the party, that's for sure!!

The only thing I wish ANY airline would do is let you buy tickets more than 6 months out!!! It's driving me crazy that everytime I go on the site, I can't even get a price.

Hello, my name is Cherie and I'm an airfare price check-aholic.

Looks like I came the right place.:thumbsup2

I did not know that.

Yep-er.

Yes! We are glad to have her here!

Good question...what's the sitch?

As long as they're about Grandma proper....we don't need to get into what she may have or may have not been wearing! :scared:

I just heard a comedian the other day saying that a baby on a plane is a great evangelistic tool -- it can get anybody to pray, even if the plane's going to an agnostic convention. You start walking through the plane with a baby and every head goes down in prayer -- "Oh Lord, just let them pass!"

She brings the party, that's for sure!!

Uh-huh! party:

I hear ya. They're not set up for long-term planners like us. I guess all you can do is sit back and enjoy some shrimp ceviche while you're waiting. ;)

No thanks!! I tried a glass of wine tonight before dinner, and now I"m sitting here trying not to ralph.:eek: No, ceviche in my near future.
