The MAGIC-al 12/03/05 Cruise - Trip Reports & Pictures Page 6*

What is the deal with these Medals? Does DCL give them out for contests? I have never heard of this prior to that last trip report......:)

Vanessa- The medals are awarded on the cruises for superior performances at the various events on the ship. For example, the Vegetable car race, the Disney Legs contests, ping pong tournament, 80's night etc. It is a common cruise industry practice. I have won medals on RCCL as well. The TurkeyDay Dis group won lots of medals.

I doubt that this is a new practice. I won a medal on our 11/04 cruise, and you can read the Live From 11/19 thread to see how many medals were won be the TurkeyDay group.

BTW does your name mean that you are a UF Gator? If so, so am I!

Absolutely! DH just announced this morning we should go to the bowl game...although I am not sure about that!
Was just up there for the game - and it was the best it has been all season!

I didn't know you could go twice? How did you swing this?
We hada group brunch with the Chicago AAA Group we traveled with and once on our own.....for dinner, we had 2 staterooms so two resies....but we are now also concierge and they can also get you additional times.

Another way is to call PALO around 5:30 to see if they have had any cancelations for that night......'Big Fish' Jim had a lot of luck doing that last Christmas.....

How are the seas? Sounds like you guys have smooth sailing.
As Tenor would say "Like Butta!"
Extremely smooth.....

Sitting here with chichi honey....we had our second PALO brunch today :hyper: ....Popovich Gailyn and her family were there....last night, Hannosdad and cjsmom97 & DH went to the Magician Show  - Freddie Fusion - which was great.

Hannosmom and I went to the 'dive-in' movie at 10 pm after sailaway...Finding Nemo :fish: ...it is sooooooo cool to sit under the stars and watch the show......

chichi honey brought the kids menus for cjsmom97's kids who missed dinner....

chichi honey and Hannosmom went to the studio seas and built gingerbread houses....although Sarah ate the chimney.... :rotfl:

Just went to the Tequila Tasting :cool1: (non-drinking) with Hannosdad and moochinkassarole and her DH which was fun...I am saving myself for the Martini Tasting  at 4.......

Lumiere's tonight for Formal Night....... ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

Hannosmom won AGAIN :earseek: at bingo....she can feel the big money today will be HERS... :smooth:

as Sarah says "We are LOVING this Cruise :boat:!"

sounds like fun - glad the seas are smooth for you all. I can't wait to see the movies by the pool! That will be so neat, and what is with this chocolate souffle stuff? Is it that good?

Not sure if you guys have already been to Costa Maya or will be soon, but if you want to see some great sites...take the public transportation (yellow/orange vans) over to Mahaual & then walk a few steps to the Cat's Meow Restaurant just across from the beach. That's where you can hook up w/ "David & Ivan" for the Chaccoben Ruins tour. Ivan was wonderful and the tour was great...a highlight of our Turkey Day Cruise!!

Also if you've yet to go to Palo...REQUEST ZITA for a server! SHE'S AWESOME!!!! This was our second cruise w/ her as our server! LOVE HER!!!

Please tell ZITA, PJ, & DANIELO (the awesome Palo Bartender) that Laurie & Davis from Atlanta, GA say HELLO!!!!

Thanks!
Laurie :flower:

We're live from Grand Cayman. We tendered in and had a wonderful tour of the island. Jeff absolutely loved the sea turtles! We did some shopping and are heading topside to enjoy the pool and sun! Well...at least I am...I left Jeff snoring in the cabin! :confused3

We have a Royal Caribbean ship right next to us and everyone keeps commenting on the extremely large dent in the side of it. One person commented that it was "Titanic" waiting to happen.

This trip has just been a blast. Wasn't really thrilled with Key West but have enjoyed everything else thus far. Managed to even get Jeff to try some escargot last night at Lumiere's. I also really enjoyed the Golden Mickeys last night.

Well...off to the sun and more fun...and more food.....

Signing off for now.....

Hi DisFriends!!!! So glad you're having a MAGICal time!!!!! Glad you could manage it "without me" :earboy2:

Wow, Cat 3 upgrade?! No slumming for you and Sarah, Pat!

Linda, stinks re: Atlantis - you are SUCH a good sport! I'll make it up to you - come over when you return and we'll make John and Ed pour us umbrella drinks and deal us blackjack! :rolleyes1

Also, glad to see you took my advice about winning at bingo! :rotfl:

Hi Sarah and Jeanna! Keep on having fun in the sun, and safe travels this week!

Wow, what a show tonight. Twice Charmed was absolutely fabulous....but this is Disney....everything first class.

Having a fantastic time....will update from Costa Maya tomorrow!

I'm looking forward to seeing Twice Charmed for the first time in August 2006, also interested in what you have to share about Costa Maya as we will be stopping there in August.

Thanks so much for slipping in some time to share your adventure. Did you tour Grand Cayman through one of the DCL excursions, and if so, which one?

We're heading that way ourselves on the 17th.

Have a fun day today in Costa Maya. Let me share a little secret. The first shop that you come to as you enter the shopping village has a great collection of monkey statues. None of them have any prices on them. You see the sweet one here in my photo? They tried to make me pay $200 for that baby. Luckily, I know how to bargain with the locals, so I got it for $150. Men, these make great Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa gifts for the DW's. I can't wait for Christmas morning when Mrs. TCD unwraps hers!

Have fun at Pirate Night tonight! pirate:

There had better be some Diser's in the dance competition!

We have traditions to uphold here people! Don't let us down!

Hello everyone......
Chichi is right beside me...we are in Costa Maya, just hanging out on the ship...hannosmom and dad went to the 'ruins' - which ones I do not know....
BIG hello to PoohJen..we miss you...yes, Cat 3 is pretty cool even though I am sleeping in a 'nest' in the Living room..have to ask sarah about that one!

I am a witness that Kris' Jeff ate snails :earseek: ....still no calamari but ya never know :confused3

Grand Cayman was great, did the Butterfly, HELL, Turtle tour - very cool...still LOTS of evidence of the hurricane last year.
Got great reports from beach people and snorkeling people and sting ray people..I did some sport shopping myself.

DVCruiser and Mouse of pain and family have been winning LOTS of stuff - bingo, medals for Putt Putt competetions....I think that crew might be up for the Legs contest.

Pikey has such FOND memories of the Turkeys...I think the poor guy will never be the same!

He also mentioned that the 8:30 showing of Golden Mickeys had a quite ....ahem....'enthusiastic' crowd cheering when Tarzan came out...
well, he is AWFULLY cute in that loin clothe...so maybe the response was a little 'Un-Disney"

Went to PALO for dinner at 6:30 and did not get out until 9...so we missed Twice Charmed....bummer!
Chichi says it was great....a little scarey but GREAT!

We have been served 3 times by our favorite - Aleksandar from Croatia - and PJ is as charming as ever.

.......and not to be outdone - we told our cabin steward Nicole from Jamaica that we had 'seen them all' in terms of towel animals so we wanted REALLY cool ones...so far we have had a Dinosaur! and very attractive Lobster and last night - an Angel! WoW - never saw that one before.

More later.....

We did the Stingray City and Island Tour - had a fabulous guide. We got to go down in a glass bottom semi-sub and the guide for that portion rounded up the stingrays so we could get pictures and etc. Also got to see Chilly the Barracuda (called that because he just chills out there in the shade). The water was soooooo clear - it was beautiful. Others went on the Stingray City trip that allowed them to actually swim with the stingrays and said it was great!
