Morning all! Hope everyone has a bright, sunny day. A couple of notes:

SNAP - You have to remember to stop losing your 'druthers. Causes all sorts of problems down the road.

Yeah...don't I know it. One time I lost my 'druthers at a really inopportune moment. You may have read about it in the Enquirer. It's really hard to be taken seriously once you've been seen in public without your 'druthers. But I keep tryin'!

Well, we've had a busy weekend. My town's a blaze

The wedding was beautiful. My sister looked so pretty. I cried, we all cried. It was a great day. 10 minutes after they left we got word that our(not really ours but our friends where we live and all of our possesions reside) shed just blew up. Apparently my town was on fire and we didn't know. The shed had 20 gallons of gas, plus all the lawn equiment and a generator, so when it caught fire it blew up. Which caused a raging inferno and the wind(30MPH) blowing it towards the house. At the same time there was another fire near where my parents live. So we left the wedding thinking we had no where to go. Can't go home, can't go to myparents...but when we go to my parents that fire had been controled and was out. It stopped 4 blocks from my parents, 2 blocks from our lot. My town looked like there was a war going on. When it got dark and you looked towards the fire it was an eerie orange glow. Scary.. Thankfully they got it under control the next day...but we're staying at my parents. We were going to be here after Wed. anyway, watching my little brother when they went out of town. We had to stay Sat. night and Sunday night because Sat night we couldn't even get to the house anyway and fires were buring all night, and there wasn't power until Sunday night. And little fires were still burning as of yesterday afternoon...and I'm just not ready for the mess yet. Everything is gone, the backyard was so private and wooded you couldn't even see the other houses, now there are no woods. No grass, no where for the kiddos to play. But thankfully the house was spared. We only lost some lawn equipment in the shed. But how scary. 2000 acres burned, 15 houses destroyed, they even lost a dep. of forestry truck....and started by a 10, 12 and 14 year old. Then there were 3 other fires that same day that they don't know who started yet.

So can someone please PM me with an update on what I missed since Thursday???? Thanks.

Have a good day everyone. :)

How did I miss that you're from Merrimack? And what day is the Bedford Farmers Market? I'll have to check it out. The Deerfield one is nice but small -- it just started last year.

 Hi! I'm neighbors with the Chairman!

Hey, that means I'm neighbors with the Chairman, too!! If you ever want to head south a little bit, Connors Farm on the Danvers/Topsfield line has a strawberry festival in late June (will probably be the 24-25th this year), where they have strawberry picking, and all kinds of strawberry goodies to buy. They have THE BEST strawberries. And you could visit me!! ;)

Frickles, why didn't you get the strawberries LAST week? I could've stopped by to take some off your hands!

Oh no! Thank goodness you weren't home - and good to know your home and your parent's home survived. But how terrible - it's so terrible sometimes how kids don't think of consequences. So glad you and your family are alright.

PP, instead of just copying the link into the body of your post, use the little icon at the top with the world and the glasses. At the first screen, put what you want to SHOW UP in your post, at the second, paste the IRL address. Does that make sense? Try it . . .Easy as pie.

I am so sorry to hear about the fire...how scary and sad for those who lost their homes. Thank God you and your family are OK!

I think PP and GACat are our resident catcher uppers!

So, so sorry to read about your fire fiasco. As you said, thank goodness it didn't get to your house (and that you weren't home), but what a scary thing. I'm sure you were luckier than many of your neighbors.

In terms of catching up, after two weeks of being away, I decided that if it's over 10 pages, it's not worth catching up. But maybe Haley or PasleaPooh will give you some updates. They're good like that :thumbsup2

Hope all goes well while your neighborhood tries to recover!

I am now as caught up as I'll ever be, but because my @#$%%$@#@ computer at home is still on the blink, I keep losing ground in the evenings! (And, it would probably be good of me to get a little work done while I'm here in the office!!)

If I have time, I'm going to book flights for the 'stromers meet today!! Does anyone else freak about flying without their kids? DH and I haven't been on a plane together, without the kids, in at least a decade. It kinda freaks me out. Am I being ridiculous?? :confused3

The Bedford Market is on Tuesday or was last year.

http://www.bedfordfarmersmarket.com/

Yes I'm from Merrimack via Woburn and Burlington MA.

Merrimack Weather

Merrimack.gif

I used to work in Burlington! Still go to the mall every once in a while.

Crappy weather today, but we do need the rain! And if it keeps up, my son's Babe Ruth game will be cancelled tonight!! :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:
It's a shame, but I do find myself praying for rain so I don't have to go to games....especially this year, as his team is horrible, and he is just mortified, because he got put on the Yankees!! He refuses to wear his uniform or hat in public. He changes in the car!! :rotfl2: Supposedly, the other coaches gave his coach this team because he is such a notorius Yankee hater!

Go Sox!! :cheer2:

Hmmm no sign of Tink yet she must be jumping in the water with the cable guy.

{{{{{SLAP}}}}}

I'm near Burlington, MA too! On the North Shore! I used to live out near Concord...but had to move for DH's job.

I LOVE that the Burlington Mall now has a CHEESECAKE FACTORY....mmmmm!

OK, so this was my first time selling anything on eBay, and I've only bought something twice before - but I had some expensive purses I decided I never used and the money would come in handy for The World.

Well, I get an email from the winning bidder who bid quite a bit of money, and she says she was bidding on 2 purses at the same time, never does that, never wins them, can't believe she won them, and she's going to go with the other one - sorry!

Sorry?!!! I thought on eBay if you bid on it, you had to pay for it! And I probably screwed myself by being nice and offering a return policy, so even if I got her to pay for it, she could just return it. So I'm trying the Second Chance Offer thing - but I am extremely non-plussed right now!

OK, sorry, vent over - thank God this board is perpetually OT!

Thanks Nicole Marie.

I am writing the epilogue now and am a little befuzzled as to how much detail I want to go into. I sat at the computer last night and just typed like a woman possessed and then reread it and thought 'There's no way I can post all this'. Really deep stuff. Not on my jolly trip report. It's like once you start, you just keep going deeper and deeper. It could be pretty dark. But I don't want it to be. Dark, I mean. So I will have to work on it some more. A lot more I think.

Anyway, I use Photobucket and it's really easy. Hey, if I can figure out how to upload video to Photobucket, you know the site's easy to navigate. Check out the tech board here and they can give you the low down. Or you can PM me if you have any specific questions about it.

LY/MI

Really gotta run now.

Thanks LaLa -

I signed up with Photobucket and now the Tech Support board info makes sense. I have some video, too - I may post it to my report. Except my voice is in most of it which CONFIRMS that I am a redneck. EEK.

And yes - I understand about getting deep. I don't recommend it. I kinda did in my last installment and after three responses, I am WAAAAY down on page 2 of the TRB. :)

Hi Ashclan, Em's Mom, JW, Paslea, Mommy P, brandt, 2infinity and Ed...Have a good one

Hi All! I'm baaaacckkk! YAK!

Did you miss me?

Had a really busy weekend, Kidlets made their first Communion and we had a big celebration with the relatives afterwards. It took me 'till today to get back to normal.......Maelstromin'

I actually went back and read all 50 or so pages that I missed and I thought I'd post a synopsis of what I read.

Warning: Long Post. You guys are a busy bunch!

    (another busy bunch!)

mickman1962 Welcome to Maelstrom. Provided a insightful quote for all of us to live by, "It's 5 o'clock somewhere".....which could mean outta work or it's happy hour!

Jamal started out lurkin' while workin' Thought Lil Grumpy was Frank McCourt - could be some truth to this?? Stopped back in on Monday. Jamal is "the fixer"

Shelby5554 Stopped by Sunday to say Hi, wondering where everyone was. Chatting probably.

MUSH Something going on between Snap and Mush, but we'll let them work it out.

2infinity & B-ond stopped by to say hi. Gave more love to Grumpy. 14 banana men are the absolute limit here at Maelstromers. Gave a nice gift to Maxbon at #5442

BratTink Another lurker convert. Not Tink's relative.....we think.

brandt79 out of town for 3 days and now out of it. Despirately trying to catch up. Provided yet another quote for the book.....decided to stop lurking "cuz all the cool kids are doing it......" Slapped us back to reality with a couple of really detailed questions. Maelstromers came to the rescue.

Frickles MIA until Sunday night, with story of her trip to Atlanta. Frickles Sista - my DH would say the same thing to me about going to Maelstrom Meet! Maybe you guys could chip in to pay us to transcribe the Maelstrom thread into a book? Then we could come. "If you pay us, we will come"

Mumbler gave us words of wisdom for reading other threads. Stay here or move on with caution!

Bliss 3 poster looking for edit feature to join in on the fun

Maxbon tag=tutored! Out of lurkdom, or under a alias??

MIA this weekend: MommyPoppins ZZUB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did I miss anything important??
I hope this helps the lurkers catch up.

MAELSTROM.........is a fastpass?

OK - I just threw up a little in my mouth.

I don't think so .... dh and I are flying separately to the meet. Really only because we have FF miles on united for one ticket, and a credit for SWA for another, so it just makes sense. But it doesn't at all bother me that we're going on different planes, just for that reason. You know.

YAK - thank goodness you're back. I left a lot out when I sent MP her PM.

How could I forget the pole dancing?
