Duh me... I just read, it's in her cast. BE VERY CAREFUL WITH SWELLING IN A CAST. My dBil had a pretty bad break of his upper leg but no nerve damage or loss of function or feeling...then he had post op swelling and they didn't get the cast off in time and bam...he still cannot feel his foot and has limited range of motion (but he was very dedicated to getting full "walking" back and has and then some, he can even slowly jog now, he has just learned to compensate).

NOT said to scare you, just make sure she doesn't feel badly about making her discomfort known and also that she doesn't take it too lightly. If the swelling gets "big" enough, it can start to cut off blood flow and pinch nerves and compress nerves etc.

All of that said, my Dbil was in a little hospital (and I use that term loosely) and he had a very inattentive nurse who didn't respond to his reports of pain...

Caution is the key!!

I'm very nervous because she isn't going back to the er tonight, even though it was hurting her again. She said she will just stay off and elevate it. But, what if it swells too much in the night? Surely my dad would have the presence of mind to just hacksaw off that cast...............maybe I should call and suggest that if it becomes an issue. She did say she'd checked, and there was still room around her leg in the cast..........but there might not be room further down. I was going to leave on Saturday. Luke will be tired tomorrow evening, and my foot is still sore. It's okay in the mornings, but the brake pedal causes some discomfort in the afternoons/evenings.

Stomach is feeling just okay this evening; I haven't thrown up, but it does feel a little icky.

I was glad they didn't vote that Sundra girl out. Those guys annoyed the heck out of me. Well, the thing with them stepping away from the girls to make the decision...that was insane!! They are a team...why didn't the women get to input at all? Then again, they just stood there watching...weird.

Did anyone else think that the the teamas were not really fairly cast? It seemed to me that the black team was at a huge disadvantage. None of them are very athletic. This season's rigged!

Okay, I just called her back now that her pain meds have had time to work. She said her last one had worn off about noon and she had just taken another when I talked to her. Well, it's working now, so she must be okay. Last night she said even that didn't stop the pain. I get myself worked up when I am not there to assess things. Sorry about that, cousins.

I love the Amazing Race & Survivor. Dancing was pretty good - I thought it was going to be too girly for me but I liked it.

Paige, just point out how serious it is and then trust that she won't do anything to hurt herself permanently. And yep, I bet your dad does have that presence of mind. I bet a single phone call wouldn't annoy them and I bet it just might make you feel better.

So Saturday you will be on the road as well...and I bet you will be even happier to see your mom's face then I will be to see Mickey's...
