The Mad Chatters thread Part 2

Tonight I do nothing. I swear this is true...and I may want to kiss my dentist the next time I see him for doing this...after he saw my teeth (not ground down...SMASHED straight on) he said I had two things going on...TMJ and I was stressed out (huh, imagine, a mom of three stressed out, whatever for?!). Well, he then calls in dh and tells him that MASSAGES and LONG HOT BATHS are his prescripion (along with a TMJ mouth guard thing, crowns on the teeth I managed to mangle and reading some cutesy **but stupid** stress reduction booklet).

GRRR...another $300 of our trip money went to pay the co-pay today on the TMJ splint, grinding down the sharp edges of the mangled teeth and the emergency visit.

Sorry, my interlude of complaining is done...but for tonight, the short answer is, I am doing nothing. I am learning to relax. Hmmm...not a bad "to do" list! ;)

Good Evening! :)

How's everyone doing? I didn't read any previous posts, so if it's important, tell me to read them and I will. Today was just another work day for me. NO FUN! :guilty: But atleast Monday is a holiday and I don't have to work! That means more DISing time! :woohoo:

Nothing important(with me I mean, the rest of the stuff other people posted is of course, important:))...just me being a baby. Paige found out her mom has a fractured hip (slight fracture). Bonnie pointed out how we are close to our 7000th post. Mindy is excited about her upcoming trip (WOO HOO FOR MINDY...she is almost on her way to WDW!!:)). I cannot really remember anything else. Forgive me if I skipped something! ;)

I had a friend with TMJ, but you could hear her jaw click when she ate and talked. Freaky.

Sorry about the money and time, but what a great prescription!

I'm a highly unrelaxed person myself, and I'll never forget going to Lamaze class and the lady telling me I HAD to relax..........."your shoulders are stiff, try to relax, if you don't relax you'll be in much more pain during labor"..........firstly, I hate being touched, and secondly, if you TELL me to relax, there's no surer way to keep me from it..............that was the last class I went to. :rotfl:

Aww... I really feel for Paige's mother. How sad! :guilty: OOH! Our 7,000 post IS very close! Man, we've had a lot to chat about these last few months. :thumbsup2 I wish I were Mindy right now! LOL. I know that she'll have a blast. Thanks for the update, Jay! :)

Well, DS wants to check out NickJr.com. I like for him to have a few minutes a night to play on the computer to unwind. It's also educational. I don't care for him playing X-Box all the time.

Have a great night!

:rotfl: :rotfl: I went to "birthing class" and did the same thing. If you touch me (and I don't know you) you might get your hand chomped off (maybe not with the whole new jaw pain thing...but otherwise, watch out) and seriously, who ever thought telling someone they "have" to relax is relaxing in any way shape or form!?? My first class was also my last class! :)

I've missed you guys, too. I hope this weekend I'll have some down time.

Paige: Before I go, how's your mother doing?

She seemed in better spirits when I called. She has a hairline fracture of her left hip to go with her right broken ankle. They have now stopped trying to make her get up and are teaching her to wheelchair transfer. They said if she can do it, she can go home. She looks forward to that.

Oops..........missed you, sorry. Got caught up in the middle school support thread. Your light was still on when I started typing.

How is she doing along those lines? Is she able to transfer without a great deal of pain? Did the shot help her any?

So you really do fit in nicely with Stitch. :rotfl:

I have had to explain and re-explain my touching thing with coworkers........and some of them think it's okay to still do it and just say, "Oh, sorry, I know you don't like it, but I just HAD to"...........WHY do you have to? Tucking a tag, giving a hug, nudging an elbow, patting a back.........I hate all of it.

The shot completely numbed it for a few hours, but he hasn't given anymore of those. She didn't say anything about how much it hurts when she does it, but she's only done it twice. She says the PTs help her get into the chair and take it really slowly and all. She says when it's time to get back in bed, the aides do it, and they are a little more impatient and a little less able.

She fired her dr. :rotfl: He didn't believe anything was wrong with her leg and wasn't coming in to see her, so when this other on-call dr. came in and actually looked at it and said it didn't "feel right", she asked if she could have him instead. He told her that was her right, so when the other dr. came on Monday, she told him she didn't want him, he was fired...........she wanted the one who bothered to come see her. He told her that he had the xray and ct machine outside and proceeded to just go get them and bring them in and do the tests anyway.

Of course, the one she wanted is the one who tried to schedule an MRI. Which could have been disastrous due to the pin in her ankle since it's a giant powerful magnet!

Oh and as far as the freaky clicking jaw noise...my only does it every once in a while, which is the main reason that it took so long for them to figure out. I am so happy that they have figured it out. I was going broke going back in every few weeks and having even more damage done to my teeth.

Also, I am partial to the long bath/massage RX! :teeth:

Telling my story in chunks here...........anyhow, the dr. she fired told her if her hip doesn't do well she'll have to have hip replacement. So he was in there the 2nd time she tried the transfer, and she was having some trouble..........it was only the 2nd time..............and he told her that if that was all she was going to try, then he might as well schedule the hip replacement now.

Where did this guy learn bedside manner anyway?

However, now she is EXTREMELY motivated to learn to do it, so maybe she needed that push. She also leaves out what she's doing when he said it, so maybe she wasn't doing her best. Though who can blame her, with all she's been through.............

Hi Steph!

Yes, Jay, I think most of the trouble with anything is figuring out what is wrong..........after that, not only do they know what to do, but it somehow just seems easier KNOWING what it is.
